I was looking for this comment, LOL. That’s a gorgeous silver Maine Coon, a beautiful cat but looks nothing like a Ragdoll.

as an owner of a 2yr old rag doll cat, i have to disagree. i have had cats all of my life and i would not call a rag doll low maintenance. ours can play for hours and gets the zoomies at least twice a day. she is always near us and if we didnt have a small young dog for her to play with she would be climbing the walls and rubbing against my leg every 15mins to play with a bell on a stick. she plays fetch and does act like a dog sometimes, i know each cat is different but from what i have seen she is fairly typical of her breed. they also only start going limp when held at 2 or 3 yrs old when they start t clam down.

U should try owning a calico cat ..... they never sleep . Imagine having a cat awake and playing for 20 hours a day . Now that’s high maintenance... just saying . And I’ve owned rag dolls and Maine coons , Persians and Russian Siberian .Himalayans , domestic long haired ,Siamese and calicos

Thanks for the personal experience, i wondered if they had an energetic kitten phase like most cats. Would you agree it is basically required to have a companion to a ragdoll to give it enough interaction?

@@tommieholstin5378 Calico’s aren’t a breed. Calico only refers to coat color and patterns. A lot of people also make the same mistake with tabby’s; not a breed just a pattern of stripes that is super common in domestic cats.

My two Maine Coons are very athletic but have mostly laid back personalities. In my opinion they’re the perfect combination of friendly and affectionate but not needy. Not lap cats but they definitely want to be by my side and are curious and intelligent. They’re the best!

@@silvermainecoons3269 don't get me wrong i love my cats. i was just saying that maine coons are not lazy as some of the other breeds. they do nap a lot just as most cats, when when they are awake they moves a lot, which can be a problem when i want to sleep in.:)

You guys need to do a better job of showing accurate photos of each breed. At 0:31 you show a Maine Coon cat NOT a Ragdoll. Then at 5:49 you show a Siberian, definitely NOT a Maine Coon. Siberian cats can have the coat color/pattern called the Neva Masquerade. This is a color point pattern with blue eyes that looks similar to a Siamese cat. Colorpoint patterns do not occur in pure bred Maine Coons. The cat Mollie shown at 5:52 is a typical Maine Coon, but the next cat shown 5:54, is not a Maine Coon either but a domestic shorthair. Coon cats never have short fur.

Then ragdolls might be a good fit. If you want to check how they usually behave, search for Spoonful of ragdolls KZread channel. The owner is a Korean that has 3 generations of ragdolls living almost exclusively indoors. There’s also this American based groomer that has a channel showing how some of her clients behavior during grooming, but that’s mostly a generalized take on each breed. Also three (two are just general pet owner be aware sort of stuff) things I would like to make clear: - medium and above length fur pets need special care, if the hair starts clumping up it can affect the health of the pet or be signs itself that the pet has some problem, allergies and sometimes skin infections can happen because of them if they are too close to the skin and left as is for a while; - flat faced pets will more often than not be able to groom themselves properly and throughly, so those will need to visit a groomer whenever possible, specially if the owner doesn’t have the time to brush, wash and help deshedding, specially when coupled with medium to long haired pets, but short haired ones will also present problems; - and lastly on ragdolls themselves, they are not as low maintenance as the video suggests. It will depend a lot on the climate and how well weather proof and climatized you can make your house for them. Just keep in mind that people’s comfort zone of temperature can be too low for cats in general. Ragdolls also require the same attention as flat faced breeds when taking care of their face, some don’t clean their faces properly when grooming and that can end up staining the path along their noses from their eyes. They are also not as lazy as the video makes them to be, so plenty of indoor toys like towers, hiding place and boxes will help keeping them stimulated.

@@fie4426 my pleasure! If you going to get kittens it’s even better! A few tips from someone that had cats for over 30 years: break into them bathing early on, like a few months in usually works, that way when they have to get groomed offsite then won’t be too much trouble (like when visiting the vet or a pet salon, plenty of pets tend to soil themselves on the way to place they don’t know, specially when inside their travel bag or cage out of stress, so even a simple bath on site might need to be done). Never underestimate injuries! Specially those to eyes, nose and ears! If by some misfortune you can’t get vet attention, small injuries and inflammation to open wounds can be temporarily managed by gently wiping with saline solution and gauzes until you can. On food and drink, try to hydrate the dry pet food if you or someone you living with is alway around when they ask to be fed. That will help them keeping themselves hydrated a bit more. Setting a water fountain for them is also a good incentive, nobody likes stale water. Oh and the groomer channel I mentioned before is called Girl with the Dogs Hope what I wrote helps and that you get your kitty (or kittens even) soon!
