This 10" Kicker Hideaway powered sub has 180w in a compact package. It's a great way to complete your system while maintaining trunk space.
Other sound upgrades to my Accord:
JBL 6x9s in the rear
Polk Audio 6.5s in the door
SiriusXM satellite radio
Noico sound deadening mat and foam inside doors and quarterpanels
3M rubberized undercoating

    I had the exact same issue with my old 2003 Accord - the lights went out on the stereo. Fortunately, it happened with one month left on the warranty, so I got it fixed just in time. Glad you’re happy with the sub!!

    You got lucky with that timing. I've read there's a resistor on a board in the block that blows out and causes the lighting issues. I'm not at all handy with a soldering iron so I found a listing on Ebay for repairs. Think it was around $130. It's been completely reliable ever since. I still haven't found anyone with good long term success with an aftermarket radio in these cars so I'll stick with the stock unit. It's just underpowered for better than stock speakers. That wasn't evident to me until I swapped speakers. This sub more than makes up for it. For the price and size, I'm very happy with its output. I was missing so much from the music until I got the sub.

    I didn't want to play too much music on the video and have YT not allow it for copyright issues. The sub is really, really good. With the aftermarket speakers and this sub, this car has far and away better sound than our stock 2017 Accords. My 2017 coupe has a factory sub in the back shelf, but its sound is almost non-existent. This 10" Kicker makes a great addition for someone wanting fuller sound from their stock system.

    The head unit isnt letting you get out all you can from the sub and speakers. You need a JVC or Kenwood with 5v pre amp outlets to get the best signal you can! Nice setup though. You have some quality components.

    I agree and thank you! I've seen so many people have issues with aftermarket head units in these cars. It is normally some type of HVAC control problem or the steering wheel controls no longer work after installing the aftermarket unit. Everything turned out pretty well. I think I have roughly $600 into everything. It sounds pretty nice for that. I'll be putting a different Kicker 10" powered sub into our 9th gen Accord coupe after Christmas. That should sound good in there.

    @txaccord a really good headunit that plays well with HVAC and steering controls is the Sony ES series. The cheaper one is like 550 but the sound processor on those units is ungodly good.

    The vent mount clip came as part of the SiriusXM radio. I used it to keep from sticking a mount on my dash. The vent the radio is clipped to is closed. Both of the vents above the factory radio are directed toward me. I've used it like this for several years with no issues.

    You think this would fill out a 2007 chevy silverado 1500 classic extended cab nicely? I have an aftermarket radio but I'm just not getting the bass I want from the speakers?

  • @txaccord

    @txaccord

    3 жыл бұрын

    I think so. I said the same thing. I replaced my stock speakers with aftermarket and expected to get better low end. My factory radio just wouldn't push them like I thought it might. I've had amps/subs like two 12's, three 10's, etc. in the past. This sub won't sound like that, but it will fill out wh as t you're missing surprisingly well. I compare it to the "live music" sound. If you go to a concert, you hear that punchy bass people don't get from their stock systems. This won't rattle houses, but it will fill out that sound. I read reviews about the 8" Kicker. Those people liked it, but wanted just a bit more. I think this sub is perfect for what I'm describing.

    I think mine sounds great in my car. One should be adequate. I've had different sub boxes with 10s, 12s, and I had a set of 15s once. Systems like that with a much larger amp are ones you'll hear coming from down the road. This hideaway isn't that window rattling bass like those, but it does provide a decent little thump and bass sound in the cabin that his stock speakers do not. I'd personally try one and see what you think. Plenty of room and a second one would be simple to add on.

    Where do you hook up the blue wire

  • @txaccord

    @txaccord

    3 жыл бұрын

    Blue should be the remote turn on. This amp gives you two option for turning it on. If you have a wire on the radio that is only hot with the ignition on (you should have this), you can hook the blue wire to that so the amp turns on only when the ignition is on. Don't hook the remote on wire from the amp to a constant 12v power source because the amp would never turn off and it would drain your battery. If you're hooking the blue wire to a wire that has power with the ignition on, you'll want to place the "auto turn on" switch on your amp to +12v. If you don't want to do that, this amp gives you another option. If you put that auto turn on switch to DC, the amp will detect your radio is playing music from the speaker wires you hooked to and it will turn on your amp. I previously had another amp in the car so I had a remote turn on wire to hook to. For 7th gen Accords like I have, there's a yellow/red wire to the radio that is on with the ignition.

    I don't see why you couldn't add another sub. There is a warning in the book to not have the sub on without the bass knob plugged in. It will cause the sub to make a loud distorted noise. You'd need to have a bass knob plugged into each sub. I've wondered what it would sound like with another sub in my car, but this one does well enough for me.

    I'm not sure if it would sound different. Some amps have RCA jacks as well as line level input. This amp doesn't have RCAs on it. It sounds fine like this to me. There is no whining sound or other noise from the sub like people sometimes have with amps.

    You prolly didn't get the right ohm load for your factory amp. Most speakers come in 4 ohm and premium factory speakers are usually 2 ohm. If you git 4 ohm speakers it won't be as loud. You can get 2 ohm speakers but the selection is limited.

    KZread removes videos with music because of copyright issues. That's probably why you don't see them here. I just installed a Kicker PTRP10 powered sub in my 2017 Accord. I plan on doing a review/comparison video for that sub vs the Kicker Hideaway 10. I'm going to buy a bass CD and see if I can get some footage posted playing a bass track. The car that this HS10 sub was in is currently getting painted so it will be probably a month or so before I get the sub reinstalled.
