and this is why I hate a lot of those riddles. I can only solve most of the ones that trick your sense of logic, because I know them. (For example bleh, my gear shift pattern is different than the one shown, my reverse gear is pulling up the knob and moving it to the bottom left, further than the 2nd gear.)

When I've heard the riddle in the past, it's usually phrased "climbs 3 ft in an hour, stops to rest, and slides back" in various wordings. (Also heard it as a per day, slides back at night while sleeping, etc)

Yeah he should've made that clear, otherwise by common logic anyone would assume that climbing and falling is occurring simultaneously hence any decent person with little knowledge of physics would use the concept of relative motion.

move the last 1 in 101 over the = sign to make it ≠. The 1's are just straight lines (not with the slanted tip) so it works perfectly. 10 - 102 ≠ 1

In 101-102= 1, you can also do this. Replace the "Equal To" sign with the Subtraction sign. Basically, 101= 102-1

No bro coz. If you use the "transposition" method. Or simply add +102 to eliminate the -102 from the left side, it will require you to put the same number on the right side of the equation with the same sign. You can't magically change the equation without any logical reason or explanation. 101-102=1 101-102+102=1+102 101=103,which is false. 101 is not equal to 103

#4 When you see such a sentence and notice the letters Q,Z, X are all in the sentence, you have to suspect all letters are used, since those 4 do not appear very often in everyday use.

For the last bonus riddle there is another logical explanation with answer 3, 1 is marked as 2, which is number of letters in (1) minus 1= 3-1 so 2, Similarly 3 is marked as 4, three has 5 letters and minus 1 is 4, in this way 5 can be 3 as well, five has 4 letters and minus 1 is number 3. We need to consider that option as well.

In 6:42 we can also take out the one line of the *equal to* sign and we can move it to the *substraction* sign in order to make it an *equal to* sign and the equasion also becomes equal. (101 = 102 - 1)

#6 could have many plausible answers, but you have to get touch with the mentality of riddlers, to know which is likely to be the most popular or favored answer. So really, this tests for ability to think within the box, within the conventions of riddle-making.

How is this explanation dumb? No time parameters were given. The criminal is told to chose a door, but not that he will immediately go through it. Nor was he given a time limit to make the decision. The criminal was never told if the psycho has bullets, only a gun. Or what the psycho did to be put in prison. That makes 2 a gamble, but it's possible that the psycho is only a small child, only uses a specific weapon, or isn't capable of killing others. A psychopath can also be persuaded. But also, is this a death penalty? If you pick a door and never come out, 2 is the best answer. 1 is excruciatingly painful, 3 is a slow death over days, 2 is quick and painless. It's all a matter of perspective.

You can also flip the #2 around and use a mirror which would give you; 1 = 102 - 101. That was the first thing that came to my mind.

In riddle 8 one of the line in equal sign can be put above the minus sign to make it correct too

An alternative answer to the bonus riddle is 5. If you add "2nd gear + 3rd gear" it results in "5th gear". Adding on the opposite diagonal the result for "?" would also be 5.

I have never experienced this type of interview. i really want to face, i solved all of these riddles except last one just coz i don't have a car.

Riddle #6 has a mistake it says that "there was not even moon light" which indicates no sun light either as sun light is above moon light and the sentence says there was no light above moon light

At 6:43, you can also take one straight line from the equation symbol (=) it then becomes minus (-), and move that line to the 1st minus and make it (=), then we'll get: 101=102-1. BOOM.

Directly about riddle one: the man had 16 not 17 birthdays. In the gregorian calendar all years are gap years which can be divided by 4 but NOT by 400. Thus 2000 wasn't a gap year.

The rule is slightly different: It IS NOT a leap year if it divides by 100, so 1800 and 1900 were not leap years. It IS a leap year if it divides by 400 though, so 1600 and 2000 were leap years.

No...the centuries are not leap years....like 1000 2000 were not leap years because the time we have left after 24 hours is added up to make oneore day in Feb which is why "a leap year" but that one more day takes more time than 24 hours so it is subtracted in every 100 years.

move the "2" infront of the 102, but turn it upside down. So you get 101 - 201 = 1 (I can't write the 2 upside down, so imagine it! ;-) ) Now if you look upside down, the equation will be correct.
