Would love a part 2 if possible!
I love that you do not edit out the tongue-tripping, and adding the Harry Potter clip won me over for life. Great videos, you have.
“marble is a needy bitch” -> subscribed right away 😂 love your content!

Haha! Thank you so much 🥰
Spot on… I also love herringbone floors. I had them when I lived in Germany years ago. Timeless is right
I loved your video - very helpful. For those with tiny spaces (like myself) the ideas still hold because affordable is possible when you only need a squeak of the good stuff. 🙌
You’re the only person who’s opinion I trust with interior design! I love your tips, thsnkbyou❤

Your channel popped on my watch list...so glad it did!! I enjoyed your information, your delivery style (authentic and real with a great sense of humor). Plus, I simply agreed with everything you had to say. New sub here.😊
Your humor is top tier 😂
I had black and white checkered floors when I had 3 small children and a dog. The floors were beautiful but needed to be cleaned constantly. Better in an adult home.

My daughter put them in her kitchen. She mopped nearly daily because her toddlers didn't respect her design aesthetic.
I love your attitude! So hard to look at huge over modern homes. We will never have that $ house for the average home. So, lets design areas for the 30, 40 thousand dollar places. Love you design daddy!
i lived in an all white apartment in Germany and I have to say it was my favorite place of all time. They had gorgeous wall mouldings, high ceilings, beautiful big windows and the place felt so light and airy. I have been dreaming of this space ever since but the U.S. apartments always have that hideous off-white creamy color. A white wall is so much more beautiful. I felt so refreshed compared to the houses I've had that had colored or cream walls.
Plants are timeless and nice. :D
You ate so funny with your bloopers
I’m an interior architecture student and this is very useful! Thank you Phoenix! I just subscribed and showed your insta reels some love too!🙏🏻😄❤️
Haha love the bloopers!
Love the inclusion of tongue ties 🤣🤣🤣 informative I’m including checkered floors to my renovation thanks you
This was one of the best design videos I have watched. Design Daddy is fun to watch.
We need more videoss, daddy.
We're on the same page on floors 😏. Herringbone floors ✨timeless

Always a beautiful feature 🙏🏼
I’d probably add that a timeless aesthetic that just polishes the space is proper moulding. In some cases, the lack of a good moulding in either the framing of the wall to the floors or to the ceiling drives me nuts. Added bonus if there is something unique but fits well for the space, or if it serves an architectural purpose. Guess it’s somewhat close to paneling, but moulding can actually bring in character to help contemporary homes while not fighting the space. One traditional moulding/rail that has been popping up in more vintage designs I wish could extend to the contemporary field is a peg rail, there is so much potential in a feature like this as its functional and it can help simplify a design. It’s a detail that a lot of contemporary designs have the worst habit of doing is that it shows that someone lives in the space and there is thought to put in something help keep the space organized and tidy. It’s not a moulding that has to surround a room but could be a good statement piece for a wall or the blank wall at a landing spot by the front or back doors. It can be placed low enough to put in an art collection or high enough to help break up a wall. This is just an example of a functional moulding. One other aesthetic I think should be considered to be brought back in and keep it timeless is a ceiling feature: ceiling light moulding, wood beams, bead board/dare say shiplap, etc. It’s tragic that the ceiling has been neglected in regular homes, it doesn’t have to be flashy but a simple feature can improve the space of done right.
So, not the point, but i hope you don't decide to edit out your oopsies. They're charming and relatable, so please leave them in. And re the hot sweaty nights reference with the sheets, you meant menopause night sweats, right? 🤪 Fab video, as always.

Awe thank you so much! My editing team does a great job, and it’s definitely me to the core in terms of jokes and mistakes. I’m not nearly as polished as it appears online. I’m glad you like it ❤
Absolutely agree!
Great advice. Thanks
I agree with the checkerboard tile , especially in hallways, entrances, bathrooms. I love me some checkerboard

Thank you KZread algorithm 👏🏿 love your vibe.
Checker board flors and wall mouldings will always be timeless It’s classic and traditional.
Preach it, Daddy!
You’re so on point and i really like you
White linens and towels! Live! Because nothing-NOTHING-nothing is more dreary than faded color sheets. Believe me, regardless of the price point, those sheets will fade faster than you can say "fade to black." As for your other suggestions? YES!!

I don’t find white linen sheets to be difficult to care for at all and mine get sweaty all the time (menopause 😖). A little oxy clean and they’re good as new. They can be pricey but they last forever. My oldest set is 15 years old. Pale blue linen wears pretty well too.

Sometimes there just aren’t any other words that adequately express the same concept. Aesthetic, timeless, etc. It’s fine, lol.

Do you ascribe to Feng Shui design principles? Sounds like it with recommendations for rounded edges on furniture and symmetry in furniture placement. Two main principles in Feng Shui to achieve harmony and balance in your home. Great tips!

I have a nineteen forties kitchen and those are the colors I picked for it.
Can you please do more of theses videos I loveeee them
On Mid Century Modern . . . I'm not convinced it is timeless (yet) or just a retrotrend. One thing is it has been gone long enough, that a lot of the less high quality pieces have fallen apart or the like leaving us with mostly the better quality pieces, and good quality anything will always be timeless in my opinion. I don't think you are wrong about it though and it has great potential to became timeless, and there, only time will tell.
Also…#WWDDD. The interior design words to live by
I agree with everything you stated, but the herringbone floor. I prefer the horizontal or vertical layout. These elongate the room. I like marble for the bathrooms, and not the kitchen. Granite is preferred for the kitchen for me. My home is done in British Colonial Chinoiserie. The amin kitchen has an exotic granite for counters. Black slate for the table set upon grey rock with grey rock overhang. One thing I think most designers on youtube do is give advice never to do something. IMO never is always wrong, and everything depends on the entire look or whole.
This is fun😂
I agree 100% with everything you said, I have very similar taste.

First time viewer, I love love love your witty fun personality, you sounds like my best friend whom I adore.... I subscribe for sure.
There is an old church or castle either in Europe or Columbia that is known for their flooring Kind of like herringbone but they look like rolling barrels and takes I minute or two to really look at what’s going on. The floors although very old would be so cool in todays homes
New sub here! You’re hilarious AND right on!!😂🙌🥰
Most of this trends can make your home a sanctuary, a place where you can retreat from the outside world and find solace. 😌🌿

I do believe that small round tables with brass or iron legs are timeless, for coffee. Antiquities already proved to be timeless, by being collected. Very little rounded corners may be timeless (as the care of finnishing the piece and not as much as to loose the angle). Medium sized (as for medium people) objects my be timeless. Also white walls may be timeless as you can cover them with any objects in trend. Porcelain sinks. Traditional art (wherever people live). Photos of the dear ones in frames may be timeless (nobody thinks they should be trendy framed).
But if you do Herringbone, you have to have the right local for it. A craftsman house is not going to carry it well.
Checker board floor. Marble Symmetry in interior design White linen bedsheets Organic elements Organic shapes _ curves Paint - neutral colour,no beige, toned down bright colours. Navy complimentary whites, brass. Herringbone floors. Mid century modern - minimalism
Does checker board flooring work on small areas?
We are going to do a harlequin floor in our galley kitchen. What color cabinets would you suggest? I don't want to go with a stark white. Great video!
You're the best
Wooden windows, you have mentioned all the natural materials, but i thought about wooden windows with glass. By the way, in your opinion, what is the best and worse way to cover the windows?
@653j521
Жыл бұрын
Oh boy, ok, worst--bricks, no, cinder blocks. Best--depends on what you are trying to achieve. Whatever only takes one hand to open or close, which means never Venetian blinds? At my place it was blinds that came with the rental until they died, and over that curtains that block the light and keep the room temperature moderate.
I agree on most if not all of this but especially the herringbone floors… they’re the best floors except Flor intarsia parquet floors in walnut… which at that point you’re paying 500€ per square metre which is much less achievable than a beautiful herringbone floor
I love white linen but I have a black fluffy dog and his puppy glitter is intense lol
Please dedicate an entire KZread video to Modern Century style - furniture (including rugs!) and colors!!

Adding to my list for the specifics of Interior Design styles and how to achieve them
You have such a beautiful name! It could be in a novel! ✨
High end quality is always “Timeless”
I love navy as a colour, but i think it's too dark to be used on walls in spaces that don't have access to a lot of light. Herringbone or checkerboard flooring are great options.
Great video and I agree with your viewpoints. My spouse and I are buying a house and the former owners allowed their 3 kids to paint their bedrooms. There's the tacky Ferrari red, the hottest pink that ever thotted, and the electric blue boogaloo room. It's all made worse by that horrible thick orange peel wall texture which makes semigloss paint look unsophisticated in any color. The rest of the house is sky blue like an 80s bouncing baby boy's nursery. After we have the texture removed we'll paint the whole house, and then it'll be onto the primary bathroom reno. I'm curious how you feel about the wet room trend that's made it to the US. In our house there's they typical sunken tub and a rather large shower, but I hate the tile. It's just outdated. It would be very easy to demo that all out to lay and hang clean, timeless tile/stone, and then do a seamless glass enclosure for the shower. I don't know how I feel about having the tub enclosed with the shower. I'm also starting to wonder if the insets for shower products will end up making it look outdated in a few years, especially the ones with the chrome edging. I just think there's no way that look makes it past 2030. Thoughts anyone?
Finally some wall moulding hate. As a European who likes modern design I find wall-mouldings a bit of a hard sell. We have buildings that have wall mouldings because they always did and they are beautiful BUT this is a traditional detail, there's nothing wrong with putting it in your 60s US flat but it is inauthentic and if you've seen it in its real traditional context it doesn't look quite right IMHO.
Am in total agreement, but checkerboard flooring sucked my soul a bit every time I had to play off a weird hop-scotch walk whenever my OCD self came across them😂 Unfortunately, there was a long hallway in my elementary school (where I had to step on le black tiles only….or else💀) Luckily I figured out I had an ISSUE that could be solved, as one of my best friends saw I clearly had it and finally asked me and hallelujah I took some Prozac and did self exposure therapy for the duration of 8th grade and can now walk on that beautiful flooring like a normal person. But as this comment exemplifies, the ADHD never went away🤗🙃. That sh/t has worsened the further into this adulthood situation I find myself in
Where are those pendant lamps from 10:40 time mark? I love them!
Go Daddy
New subscriber here! I loved your video and happen to agree with everything! Ha! My love of antiques and vintage just happen to align with checkerboard floors, marble, mid century, wall mounding, etc. And don’t get me started on symmetry. I don’t feel at peace if there is no balance in the room. I thought that was just my thing, so glad it was on your list. I love your humor and aesthetic! Lol Can’t wait for more vids.
We are redesigning our grandparents house and are thinking about doing wall moldings, but their home is like super dusty (although we are also putting in new windows and doors everywhere). Would you say that wall moldings collect a lot of dust?
Do you have a video on interior doors style and color?
Marble & Mid-century
White sheets a MUST for me. I love the hint of bleach smell on clean sheets, not to mention more sanitary.
Good advice and you made me laugh. Ur funny
I have white linen blankets and pillows. I have not noticed any extra effort in upkeep. I am not sure that they were timeless. They are very bright.
Hi Phoenix, I like your videos, especially the "practical" tips. What do you think about picture frame moulding - will it suit most of houses, or do you think it will look out of place in the modern home?
Is this a 'how to fix Kim's house?' 😂
What are your views on luxury vinyl plank flooring?
❤️❤️❤️❤️
I hate herringbone floors! The smaller the pieces, the hate I feel!
May I ask who your shirt is by?
Another timeless design hardwood floors
Do you have a video of your home?
My rules to visiting my home are simple: 1) Don't treat it like your home, treat it like it's my home. 2) Don't try to overstay..tired?...call Uber. 3) Got kids? Get a babysitter...I don't do childcare. 4): Don't be a klutz, do your pratfall comedy routine elsewhere, Jack Tripper. 5) Don't just drop by...text or call.
