    The very first episode of the Clone Wars, with Yoda and those 3 clones, also has a profound fact that most people don't know about; One of those clones, Jek, was one of the two clones Yoda later beheaded during Order 66 on Kashyyyk.

    That’s some dark irony. Yoda was the one who told Jek that being a Clone doesn’t take away his individuality. Yet, once his individuality is taken by the chip, Yoda doesn’t hesitate to behead him afterwards. 😢

    Lama Su even tells Obi-Wan in Episode 2 that the clones were genetically modified to be more obedient. This is of course referring to the organic inhibitor chips without actually specifically saying they had them. This made it entirely believable that these chips were to modify clone behavior. Five’s behaving erratically after removing his chip backed up the Kaminoans claims that the chips were necessary.

    Just saying, but I’m of the opinion that making Order 66 a conspiracy instead of just random order everyone but the Jedi knew was one of the better Star Wars retcons. You can’t convince me that in Legends no clone ever bothered telling a Jedi that there was an order specifically to kill them all when it had Commandos later disobeying said orders to protect Jedis.

    Maybe some Jedi had seen the list and found the order a little weird but treated it as just a general list of code words for important situations. Like the man said, it was hidden in plain sight. If they said that Palpatine had a plot to kill them, Palpatine could just say that the chips also had a plot to kill him, and it was a Jedi (Syfo-Dias) who had the clones made and could've been behind a plot to overthrow the chancellor while concealing his true intentions by having order 66 there as a decoy. I think Jango Fett working for Dooku really should've been the warning sign that something was deeply wrong though, and that came at the very beginning.

    The chip doesn’t remote control their bodies it makes them believe that what they’re doing is the right thing to do and justifies it differently for each trooper. Like Bly thought it was a mercy, Ayla wasn’t getting off that planet so he did it quick and painless. Cody followed orders because he was told to, is even quoted saying “couldn’t have told me that before I gave him back his lightsaber?” When he received the order. It’s also why rex was able to confuse Jessie by pointing out askhoka wasn’t a Jedi anymore, it made his logic faulty and he had to think about it.

  • @dylanwight5764

    @dylanwight5764

    Жыл бұрын

    @@blakeetter280 Moreover, the chip wasn't all-powerful either. Certain clones had such a strong moral compass that they instinctively knew what they were doing _was_ wrong in some way. Rex was able to reist the chip's influence just long enough to give Ashoka time to react and alert her that the clones were being influnced by... whatever it was Fives had warned them about a year earlier.

  • @strambino1

    @strambino1

    Жыл бұрын

    I really think it did control motor function, if it was in the pre central gurus of the frontal cortex. This gives the chip access to the initiation of executive function used for motor control of the body. The parietal lobe houses the post central gurus for somatosensory data. As Rex is aware of his hand gripping his weapon through somatosensory data sent to the post central gurus he was unable to exert the necessary executive function to stop his finger from squeezing the trigger because the pre central gurus is responsible for motor function. This is what I think happened in the cannon version of Clone Wars Season 7, just my own thoughts.

  • @blakeetter280

    @blakeetter280

    Жыл бұрын

    @@strambino1 I think it’s more accurate to say it made them want to do it, it couldn’t just strictly control motor function because alone it wouldn’t know what to do. And they justify it to themselves which suggests some kind of emotional manipulation too. Also while they’re under the effects they act very differently, much more determined and suicidal than normal

    There are a few "people" you didn't mention. The Genosian brain worms the took control of some of the clones back in season two. Looking back it makes that scene hit way different, those worms had TOTAL access to the clones brains even the parts the clones didn't know about consciously, if that infection hadn't been stopped how it was there was a chance that along with the worms order 66 may have been leaked as well.

    Yoda "suspecting" Order-66, and then doing nothing to prevent it, had to have burned his very soul with guilt! I now completely understand why Yoda, after failing to defeat Palpatine the same night that Anakin was defeated by Obi-wan, chose to go into hiding, on Dagobah, instead of attempting to raise a resistance, of some sort, against Palpatine's new order. Yoda had, after all, failed. And thousands of his people were dead because of his ignorance. Therefore, what right did Yoda have to do anything about the Empire, and the Sith?

    Dooku himself could have very easily blown the whistle secretly or publicly on both Order 66 and Sidious, as a way to distract both the Jedi and Sidious, while he then starts actually fighting the Clone Wars with the intention of winning. He had years to build up his forces for a massive offensive, develop secret technologies and strategies that even Sidious wasn't aware of. He could have done this as late as RoS, if he didn't have the mindset of a former Jedi, with nonsense ideas such as loyalty and peaceful retirement.

And Ahsoka believed Maul when he said Sideous was planning to destroy the Jedi and the Republic. Haven't watched this but Jar Jar BINKS better be in honorable mentions. The H-class Nubian Yacht with the Royal Guard attaché can be one of three people. Palpatine hard no. Padmé even harder no since she's in shock at that exact moment. Or Senator MOTHER EFFIN JAR JAR BINKS! Edit: Great list but Dang I'll add Binks to #9 since I'm sure Palpatine slipped up once in front of him. And JJ done remembered what wesa Chancellor said. In "The Disappeared" the force sphere explosion that released nothing but living force energy onto Queen Julia, Mace Windu and Jar Har Binks had to have done something. We only see Mace who becomes a straight up tank during the invasion of Coruscant. (That OG Clone Wars invasion is still canon in my head until explicitly said otherwise! 😂) And him out dueling Palpatine, something Maul + Oppress couldn't do. I hope that when we see Queen Julia again she has incredible force powers too (since her planet is tied very spiritually to the Force she should have the easiest time). "[BAD BATCH] or we burn Utica to the ground." Binks gaining precognition would then just be accepted. But I like to think Windu's incredible upgrade was written into the Clone Wars. That two parter all 3 keep pushing the limit to their own abilities. Idk maybe I'm overthinking it but he had to know something, maybe not specifically the chip but absolutely the order. I hope we see more of that last Youngling in Tales of The Jedi. Also feel like Zett Jukassa should be here because there's no way he mows through the 501st to the outside only to give up at the last moment because Organa was there. He had to have seen Organa's role in Leia's taking down of the Empire. He was free he was out. He jumped up and onto the platform he wasn't behind them when Bail appeared and he comes into frame from below. Dude intentionally saved Organa when he saw the vision of his death even Bail kept looking back like i know they're not gonna let me walk away. He must have figured it out by then. Like he'll live if i give them a target they want. Badass. Jumps in right in the middle too to turn all their blasters on him. Then instantly rolls to defend Bail. He's not trying to escape. You can see that. He's there to kill as many of them as possible like the total CHAD he was.

    The best way to ensure a massive conspiracy doesn't get leaked is to minimize the amount of people who know the conspiracy. For instance, in the lates 180ps, a group of wealthy Englishmen, perhaps 15 total, contrived a goal to create a global conflict that would end with English (more precisely, Anglophone) hegemony over the entire world. Those 15 people slowly began to plant seeds, not the WHOLE THING, but small nuggets. For instance, present to some industrialist the idea of building more ships for the navy to "patrol the ever turbulent colonial seas". The industrialist is thinking he's doing something great (that nets him a profit). Then you have others creating a political "need" for a larger navy...and it goes on. In the end, you have thousands of people working for a specific end, and not even know it.

    Not a complaint, but it would have been cool (maybe a follow-up video) to speculate how some of these characters would have changed the outcome (or not) if they had told someone as a whistleblower. I know you like to add political philosophy to some of your videos and that might be an interesting vehicle to inject some of that type of commentary. PS: Those are my favorite of your videos.

    I don't think stopping the chips would've totally prevented order 66. Some clones really hated the jedi and the curuscant guard would be devoted loyalists to palpatine and the 501st would've remained Loyal to Anakin. You'd have a lot of infighting and the republic would probably end up losing to the separatists unless they could swiftly deal with the sith aligned Clones.

    I don't think so either. It will save a decent portion of the Jedi (Jedi that are A to S tier Generals or the Jedi that connected on a personal level to the clones) but the Ki-Adi-Mundis', the Luminaras' and the lesser generals of the Order would still die. It's not as clean as fan theories would say it is. Also there's a strong chance that Jedi like Windu would just take over and still add themselves into the Chosen One prophecy as being required to be killed to fulfill the prophecy and bring the Force back into power over the dark side.

    In EU Legends, Order 66 is taught to all Clones when they're raised to literally become soldiers of the Grand Army of the Republic. When Order 66 came, the Clones made a choice of either carrying it out willingly or ultimately oppose it to protect the Jedi they've bonded with and let them escape. Not cheap plot device with brain chips made by Dave Filoni.

    I think that's actually worse cause why would they think the Jedi were evil. When they had first hand experience's with them even finding classified info they themselves weren't meant to see

    @Eric Blakemore If you don't think that having child soldiers and blood thirsty sciociopaths leading your slave army to force all of the planets that you have taxed into poverty but provided nothing for to stay in your messed up system is evil than I don't know what to say to you.

    @Eric Blakemore At the end of the day the republic was a corrupt and dying clown show that only benefitted the rich and connected and the jedi were a cult of group thinking war crime committing scothiopath.

    A lot of Legends fans keep calling it a “cheap plot device”, yet, from a storytelling perspective, the chips makes more sense. The Clones bonded with the Jedi during the war, and were adamant about being seen as individuals who have the ability to choose. The chip is meant to be the antithesis of that philosophy and make the Clones become the thing they were trying to prove they weren’t: organic droids that followed orders without question.
