Bad News Barrett was a brilliant idea, I still can't believe that WWE didn't give him a push or at least make him keep the gimmick. He deserved more than what he got in WWE.

I imagine that their reason (aka excuse) would be that since Bad News Barrett was heel, he wasn't supposed to be popular with the fans. But given the fact that WWE's most famous wrestlers got over via their heel runs, I'm more inclined to believe that back stage politics and favouritism plays a major roll in determining who gets to be popular and who doesn't. In his prime, in any other company, Wade Barrett would have been a main eventer.

Edge’s recent heel run definitely ended way too soon and should’ve been on this list. They should’ve had a 8-month run following Finn Bálor joining the group.

@@stujohn6569 True but they have Bobby Lashley as a current 2nd top babyface so there was no good reason to change their plans. And on top of that, Cody Rhodes had nothing to do with Judgement Day to begin with.

Broke Corbin was actually great. That could have been spread out for a few months at the very least. Could have had him spiral even further downwards before the comeback.

Dashing Cody Rhodes was a money gimmick. The mirror on the tron was unique and that THEME was an all time Johnston classic. He still has the 'WOAH' in his current entrance theme to prove it.

Tell me that when he was "King Corbin", wearing that damn crown, he didnt look like fucking Caillou (I THINK thats how its spelled) that PBS kids cartoon. EVERY SINGLE TIME he came to the ring with that thing on ITS ALL I COULD SEE. I havent even been able to TRY to take him serious ever since.

The corporate ministry storyline didn't need to happen because I think the ministry of darkness Gimmick had a lot left in the tank plus undertaker around this time period was so over.

Broke Corbin was great but it was only so long they could've done that gimmick. It wouldn't make sense if he was broke for 2 plus years. 😂😂😂

Absolute shame about Sean O'Haire. This guy had it all, but through sheer bad luck, it didn't pan out for him. RIP

I always loved that Undashing Rhodes character. It's so underrated not to mention his theme is also badass.

Stardust was better

It's a real shame Raven didn't have much success in the WWE. Raven was genuinely a gem. I love watching this gimmick back, because it shows Raven's genius. While seeing Raven as World Champion was unlikely given you had Rock, Austin, Undertaker, Kane, Angle, Triple H, Jericho and Big Show. However, he definitely deserved more than what WWE gave him. The brand split should've been Raven's time to thrive.

Raven pretty much thrived everywhere but the WWE. Although he did win the hardcore title like 30 times and was in a match at WrestleMania 17. So I wouldn't say he was a failure. Just not utilized enough or correctly.

I remember hearing an interview with Wade Barrett saying he thinks that the WWE should have made his Bad News Barrett character a baby face. He thinks they missed a good opportunity with that.

I loved bad new Barrett, he was SO over!

I liked edges gimmick that he had but sadly fin,Damian and rhea attacked him I wouldn’t say edges gimmick was incredible though so I don’t think it’s going to be on this list

Damian Mizdow NOT being on this list is a slap in the face to that AMAZING gimmick. It was CRIMINALLY Underrated AND short lived. It literally could of went on forever

I also think the new Daniel Bryan lasted as long as it could. It was great but I didn't see them getting much more life out of it.

Add Heel Edge as of last night

Mordecai, Edge’s recent heel run, Aleister Black’s last gimmick before they unnecessarily and abruptly fired him.

An obvious pick that should be on this list is Rusev's "HAPPY RUSEV DAY!" It was cut short because this "Sports Entertainment" company is too afraid that his gimmick would take over the top guys they wanted to push.

I've long said this about R-Truth's Little Jimmy gimmick. It had plenty of mileage left!

Raven had a genius wrestling mind. Highly underrated.

Sean O'Hare gimmick idea was great. It was ahead of its time. I miss Daniel Bryans ten pounds of hemp title.

Ministry Taker was the best. Me and my friends in junior high formed a Ministry group of our own with me as Taker. Bro, everyone wanted in. Those were the days!

Doink's fued with Crush when I was a kid really gave me fears of clowns. It was legendary!

Owen should have been WWF champ. So damn talented, even in his “punishment” of being the blue blazer again, he knocked it out of the park with everything he did. Always my favorite Hart. Such a damn shame what happened. I don’t think I’ve cried for anyone i didn’t know, but I did that night, and the night after. Still hurts to think about. Never forget the Black Hart 🖤

Yeah soon as Vince change a wrestler's gimmick they go downhill & ministry Taker was tight & I remember Sean's gimmick to bad it didn't last long & Jey Uso has what it takes to be a main eventer 4 real.

Ministry Taker theme is one of the best ever.

Looks like the WWE are trying to put Jey Uso back into his Main Event persona now, as for Daniel Bryan and Rowan they worked together before for the whole Daniel Bryan as a reluctant member of the Wyatt Family storyline, so having Rowan as a psuedo bodyguard for Bryan during his heel run simply makes sense. Rowan at the time had no real direction and this gave him one.

i still remember db trashing wwe championship on smackdown and unveiling the environment friendly version of it. his pairing with eric rowan made rowan seem like a legitimate threat to the roster.

The Undertaker was injured during the 2nd half of 1999. And I quite enjoyed his time with the Big Show. Especially when he did commentary.

And that entrance music for Heel Doink was freaky. If you've not heard it yet, look it up here on KZread, one of Jim Johnson's best works IMO.

Jey definitely should have got an intercontinental title run when he was just with Roman

There was another heel Daniel Bryan gimmick that ended too soon, probably for a good reason. The time when he joined the Wyatt Family.

sean ohaire is alot of potential, he got the million dollar look, incredible n the mic, and actually he can place batista in evolution if played well. Ohaire can also play dark character

"The New" Daniel Bryan AKA the Planet's Champion was great. Bryan finally was as on fire as a character as he was in the ring and I feel once Kofimania ended his reign, the WWE felt that they didn't need that character anymore and that Bryan sells more merchandise as a face than he does as a heel, choosing cash over quality, which is a common route for the company.

Early yesssss I love gimmicks but they could make or break superstars

This was really great, my favorites was 1. Dashing Cody Rhodes 2. Bad News Barrett 3. Baron Corbin 4. Doink the Clown. Really wish WWF/WWE would have done better and more with the gimmicks mentioned.

Corbin's next evolution should be "Angry Corbin". Where he basically goes back to his original character but for a good reason. I've been trying to pitch this for a while but Vince won't answer my phone calls.

Drew Gulak's No Fly Zone gimmick was carrying 205 live in 2017, don't know why they didn't continue it, It was really funny.

Loved Ministry Taker! However, I totally get that he had to adjust his character to adapt to the Attitude Era.

Jey USO’s dui kinda derailed the main event gimmick, plus it didn’t make sense after Jimmy returned from injury. Broke Corbin was never intended to last long. Ministry UT was awesome, and one of my favorite entrance themes ever. Don’t remember the Raven gimmick very well, and almost forgot all about Sunday Night Heat. It’s hard to believe how that show used to be huge at one time.

The planets champion was gold for Daniel Bryan especially when he called all the fans fickle all the time 😂

American Oil Stealers get all sooky when shown the consequences of there actions. Yeah it was a fake character but based on real life behaviour of certain groups of individuals that America has terrorized over and over again for decades.
