Lovely makeover and love the reason for it. Congrats! Personally, I'd deep-six the three stumps. If not, then cut them to the same size, sand and stain them and top it with a bevelled glass tabletop.

I was suppose to do it on one of my project before, unfortunately the tile paints were pulled out as it wasn't moving. They would prefer retiling here instead... 😊

I'm just going to come out and say it. There's no denying you have a gift and your work is exceptional, but I think your nervous, because it's your parents. I get the sense, your trying too hard, afraid to disappoint. Your style is usually modern, contemporary and monochromatic, yet your parents seem earth and cozy. *_The Couch_* - Though it looks beautiful, compared to their old couch, it seems impractical. They cannot sit back and relax - there's no support for their upper body. Do you plan to use glass on top of the logs, as a coffee table? Again, it would 'look' nice, but awkward resting your feet on that. You seemed to have played it safe, by using your usual design taste, rather than personalizing the decor for your clients (parents)
