@@catsandpiano3072 I'm sure a lot of that had to do with age. In your mid 20s, you care a lot more about what people think, and your life is more centered around short term relationships. As he is now a 50+ year old a married man with a kid, I doubt he cares so much about what people think. He seems more mature and happy.

I got uncomfortable watching that. but the fact that I do the same thing, I shouldn’t be speaking.
I've always had this problem where I hear music in my head, but when I go to sing or transcribe it the music disappears. I was at the point that music was not fun anymore, it just caused stress and disappointment. I rarely picked up a guitar. I stumbled on this video because of a deep love for Rivers and =w=. I thought that it meditation could help in some areas of my life, not even considering it would help with songwriting. I meditated for 15 minutes before bed on Friday, and for 5 minutes of Saturday. Sunday I heard a song in my head like I normally do, but I never lost it. I have it recorded, and I cannot stop the lyrics from flowing. I'm not saying the problem is 100% solved, but at least there is hope. Thanks Dan and Rivers.
This is a great interview. So nice to see the undercurrent of sanity in both of these guys, and clearly due to meditation. As River stated, there's no need to be a buddhist when practicing meditation (especially vipassana mediation). It's more an art of living. Converting oneself from suffering to happiness.

Yeah agreed. The idea of suffering is part of core Buddhist teachings, but the benefits of meditation remain despite where they originate. And nobody seems to be judging. Be well!

This is how you do a good interview. In almost every interview with Rivers he always seems extremely uncomfortable and that he wants to leave. The interviewer knows how to read a room and fit the tone of the person he’s interviewing.
I've often suffered from anxiety, and drugs or alcohol seem like not the answer. Meditation may be a start. I'm not looking to make a hit record.

Hey You 96, you really should really consider meditation. Even just the breathing exercises just make you so much more calmer, because more oxygen is getting into your brain and system. Many reasons why, but for me, life is too fast for our human mind that was based on an agricultural system, and meditation simply helps slow down and regulate your mind. Could never figure out why people lived in small poor communities around the world seemed so much happier than your average North American. Now I know why.

I was coloring in this adult coloring book to calm me down while I was listening to this, and it was very insightful. I love seeing how my favorite musicians actually create their work.
Okay I have never heard his voice and why is it so peaceful?
After the interviewer pointed out that Rivers was the “distasteful” image he was describing, Rivers reaction at 39:44 was so cute oml
nice intervieuw! 20 years ago i heard my first weezer song..and still listening. like their music...a lot!!!
I remember watching TV at the actual moment Dan Harris had that panic attack. I was having them all the time at that point in my life. Good to see he handled it well. For people who don’t have them, it’s like you are suddenly and without warning placed before a firing squad who are raising their rifles. Not fun. Meditation does help though.

I find raditude to be better if you replace the mixes of can't stop partying and love is the answer with the Coconut Teaser mix for CSP and the Laid back mix for LITA. They make the album feel more coherent and not ao disjointed. Because the album has some really good stuff on there, it just gets drowned in the poppiness and label intervention of a few songs

I can see how some attribute the genesis of emo to Pinkerton, but I just don’t agree so much with that. Diary by Sunny Day Real Estate is arguably one of the first “emo” albums to be released despite it simply being alternative rock music, just like Weezer’s second record. Even more so, the band Rites of Spring is credited with pioneering the original emo sound back in the ‘70s.
@Ghosty6464

It's because emo is in "waves." Some say Pinkerton was the start of inspiration for the 2nd wave, exclusively.
