I didn’t think 2013 was the worst decision to have John Cena win given the story they were wanting to tell which was a redemption arc after a bad 2012 for Cena (which yes should have included him losing to Lesnar ). Not sure who else in 2013 would have been a good choice to win it. Likewise I wasn’t fussed about sheamus winning in 2012 since Jericho went on to face CM Punk anyways at Mania and without sheamus vs Daniel Bryan , no “yes movement”. 2017 was at least unpredictable as to who was going to win given the people in the match even if Randy Orton was an underwhelming winner. Agree with the other 4 though. Those were underwhelming and bad decisions

Eddie and Benoit starting the match out a year after Benoit won the last one and how they closed out WM from that year before. The HBK and Angle stuff. The ending is so special because either one really could’ve won it and they both won the world titles at that year’s WM along with the amazing fact that the ending was botched yet was played off so amazingly.

It was the first rumble I had watched in years after losing interest in wrestling, it was the first PPV I watched with my best friend and we have always tried to hang out and watch PPVs (this past year was obviously different) and it saw the return of Rey Mysterio, my favorite wrestler of all time. Big Show eliminating himself at the 2004 Royal Rumble was the best in WWE History.
Shout out to Roman for being the final guy eliminated 3 years running. You made sure we expected something terrible but instead delivered us the goods. Thanks Chief.
As someone who was in Philadelphia for the 2018 Rumble (who got tickets on like... 6 hours notice while in the city for their yearly Auto Show), I agree 1000%. The Women's Rumble (I believe it was the first one) was insane with all the returns and surprises, but the MEN'S was electric. One of my favorite wrestling memories. I will never forget the pop when Nakamura won... and of course Ronda's debut after the Women's Rumble. What a great night.
I'm so glad that 2018 is getting it's due. I remember watching it with my new friend at the time and we just looked at each other and knew we had seen something great. Every single spot works. Joy-ride start to finish.
Royal Rumble 2004, a great overall show and an incredible Rumble; go back and watch it, but it makes for hard viewing because of who won, the man who cannot be named.
2007's final 2 is something I can watch over and over again, especially since Taker and HBK were both from Texas where it was taking place
Dark Gallowsway Rigor Morty Morticia Baddams Every time I think Adam can't come up with another brilliant name for Taker, he goes and produces another three. Outstanding.
My personal favorite Rumble is a toss up between 2001 & 2007. But I'm surprised to see that the 2006 Rumble isn't on this list
Even tho 2018 was wonderful, my favorite will always stay 2020 cause it was my first Royal Rumble match, my first pay-per-view and nearly my first (live) wrestling match ever. I had seen like the four shows before that, a few matchs on KZread, the wrestlers's entrances (still on KZread) and that's it. I had the shape of an idea of what wrestling was and then, bang, Royal Rumble, Brock Lesnar, Drew McIntyre, Edge. What pure happy memory.
Two seconds in and this is already the best list idea Adam has done on WrestleTalk.

Agree with you on that one. 2018 is my personal favourite for all the reasons you talked about and I constantly find myself rewatching it without getting bored
One moment from the 2020 Rumble that people overlook is that after McIntyre eliminates Lesnar, he stands there giving Lesnar the stinkeye, eliminates someone else, then goes back to staring down Lesnar as if to say, "don't think of getting back in this ring or I will ruin you again." A perfect summary of Serious Business Drew McIntyre.
Thought for a second this would be the 10 matches of the Greatest Royal Rumble ppv😂
One of my favorite moments about the 2018 rumble is that when Cena came into the ring and then was attacked by everyone He was laughing while getting kicked, it was hilarious.
You make a really good case for 2018, but I honestly think my favorite Rumble is 2020. I love that it's basically split into halves, telling two stories start to finish. Brock's performance had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. Edge not only returned, but performed amazingly. Rollins comes in completely set up to win again, strolling in at #30 with his disciples in tow. Roman and Drew being the final two (as well as the two rumored to win it) and Drew winning it is just a cathartic moment. Plus, it was the last big PPV pre-pandemic, so it just reminds me of better times when we still had hope for 2020.
The 2018 Final Four was awesome.... You see the the definition of WWE vs the definition of New Japan and it's awesome

Love these videos so perfect so much good work and effort into making it Good job team and adam is so funny
Thank you for the praise shown towards the 2018 Rumble Adam, it's a personal favourite of mine for all the reasons you stated but also for reasons outside the Rumble itself; myself and a few friends often talk about wrestling and sometimes when we watch matches together we predict/take bets on who will win. During the 2018 Rumble season, I was the only one of my friends who had bets on Nakamura and Asuka winning their respective Rumbles. They all thought there was no way WWE would have them both win, maybe one but not both; the looks on their faces when they were proven wrong on all fronts, it was very gratifying indeed! (the less said about both Nakamura and Asuka's journey's after the Rumble/Wrestlemania.............)
This was a really good video, being able to relive some of WWE’s best pay-per-view is really cool!
I remember getting back into wrestling in 2017 and missing out on a LOT, but Nakamura's match against Cena on Smackdown made me fall in love with a style and wrestler I had never seen before, the 2018 Rumble was the first PPV I saw live, ever, and I can't tell you about any other matches on the card, but the energy throughout both the men and womens rumble matches from both the crowd and entrants made them absolutely unforgettable. I feel like I missed out on a massive pay off with the mens rumble because I didn't get to experience the 7 year story but I'll never argue that it doesn't deserve its spot on this list
"Edge's beard."
Congrats on a year back on KZread Adam, here’s to many more!!!
Yeah, 2018 was pretty good. I loved that rumble for sure. The only thing that was baffling was the fact that the camera man and Kevin Dunn had John Cena clearly saying "Shinsuke Now! Now Shinsuke!" It instantly made me go "WTF? Why is the camera on him right now while he's calling spots???" As Oli says, "You're exposing the business!"
That was wonderful Adam!!!
Adam is legit the first wrestling KZreadr I ever watched even when he used to be with what culture he’s a OG
2012 is my nostalgic Rumble, as it’s the first one I saw (I had the DVD of it, and was blown away by it- Kofi’s handstand is still the best save in Rumble history, and the final two was fantastic), but I will admit 2018 was fantastic, and probably the best Rumble I’ve ever seen tbh
That intro with the Micheal Buffer announcement makes me believe that they should pay him millions to announce the main event of WrestleMaina. OR. What if AEW do a show in MSG (apparently that’s where they wanted to do the debut show) and they have Michel Buffer do the introduction for the main event. That would be massive. Either way whether it’s AEW or WWE I want Michael Buffer doing announcements for massive matches.

Burt Lozenge had me dying, never change Adam 😂😂🤣🤣
I love HBK hanging on to beat Bulldog, and any Stone Cold win. Also enjoyed 02 and 03 even though I was pissed that Brock got one on Taker. Also Maven getting taken to the woodshed after that dropkick was priceless😂

Personally, I think the 2013 rumble is very underrated. While Cena’s win was underwhelming, everything else was great •Jericho’s return •Jericho and Ziggler starting the match and both being the iron men •Kofi Kingston’s Royal Rumble moment •Team Hell No’s comedic moment •The Godfather’s return •Goldust’s return and fights Cody Rhodes •Ryback goes crazy and makes it to the final 2, •Plus, the star power in this match was insane! •Cena, Orton, Sheamus, Kofi Kingston, Ziggler, Jericho, Kane, Daniel Bryan, Ryback, Mysterio, and more We knew Cena would win but let’s not take away the fact that every thing else in this match was great

Yeah, Not a lot of people wanted Rock/Cena 2 I try not to let nostalgia get on the way, but I can’t deny that this was a great rumble
2010, 2018 and 2020 was the most fun I've ever had watching a rumble. Weird that the 2019 one slots right in the middle of those two outstanding rumbles and that it is pretty standard, unmemorable rumble booking
@tombardsley3081
3 жыл бұрын
At least got the payoff of Seth Rollins being the beast slayer and ending 2 years of Brock showing up every so often leaving Raw with no consistent world champion
I'd be interested in a list of great Rumble moments in otherwise lesser rumble matches. For example, I remember being genuinely in awe of Diesel at the 94 rumble, the Lesnar Juggernaut sequence before Lesnar had even contemplated becoming a wrestler.
Was at 2018, NEVER heard a louder pop. The tension in the arena was real.
A top 10 that could be done is a list of the Final 4 (or 2) in the Royal Rumble
I can never get tired of the undertaker nicknames, rigormorty had me rolling
“Fair bollocks, give it a lash” Excuse me???
I was in the crowd for Nakamuras win in the nosebleeds and I almost passed out from screaming when he tossed out Roman 😂😂
totally agree on some of the placements on this list. when you take the match as is, when you put it with the payoff a couple of spots do flip around. my number 11 aka honorable mention is the 2011 match with the 40 man version. as it was a lot of fun and all the extra things you can do with 10 extra people. yea it was a bit of over kill but i do like it when they want to put a spin on the match here or there.
2004 and 2009 were great rumbles too imo. 2004 will always be overlooked because of who won. 2009 had Randy Orton in peak heel mode win in another stacked rumble. Some great moments in that match too, Jim Duggan returned to a massive pop, and Jerichos smug grin after an elimination turning to horror when he realises the Undertaker is stood behind him.
2018 is probably the main rumble I always re watch. Was so good!
Taker and Bork. Adam gives them the funniest nicknames
I laughed way too much at Riga Morty sitting up
best part about 2018 Rumble? the surprises nobody saw coming. Mysterio returned, Hurricane returned and Andrade&Adam Cole got to showcase their talent. nobody saw that coming
The 2020 Rumble is proof that when Bork shows up to work he's one of the best.
Gotta roll with 1992. You could argue there were better matches but Heenan elevated that match into GOAT status.
Great stuff as always, WWEs best quality is their ability to use their shitty booking to surprise fans when they give them what they want. You’re convinced things like reigns winning is happening, so when shin wins its bliss
I really liked the 2016 Royal Rumble. From AJ Styles's debut, to Owens' dragging himself to the ring selling the Last Man Standing opener, to Sami Zayn's return, to Dean Ambrose being crazy over. Triple H winning wasn't as satisfying as Ambrose, but it was still well-received by the crowd. I just loved that final 2, Ambrose was so over then, and I remember the feeling of "ooooohhh HERE we go, it's ON". 2018 was better though, I felt this tension through my entire body during the final 2 that I had never felt before, it was incredible. I also came up huge for the returns of Mysterio and The Hurricane. But the Nakamura win sums up this philosophy that Al Snow has shared. In his class called "What's a pop?", he mentions that the term pop comes from 'pop a nut'-to come. The point of a 'pop' in wrestling is to make the fans emotionally come, and that was how I felt when Nakamura won. I was done for the night, nothing would've topped it. It's a sin that that rumble was in the midcard and was followed by a bloody Kane match.
I loved the 2021 Royal Rumble.. Don't know about other People but 2021 is my #1.. The hype going in was just Crazy with soo many Favourites.. Carlito and Christians return was amazing, Edge announcing his entry made sense after the Rumble, Bryan was just Great going in this Rumble, Riddle lasting a loong time and the impressive sequences against Rollins and Bryan towards the end was Awesome.. Before the Rumble Jay White said he Quit NJPW and he could have appeared at the Rumble.. It was Just Great Man.. Every Superstar in the Rumble was a Former Champion and half of the people were Possible Top 3s..
Royal rumble 2023 in a hour and a half. The hype is sooo real. Also my favorites are 5)2007 4)2010 3) 2020 mens 2) 2008 1) 2018 mens. Honorable mentions 2002,2001,1992 2004 and 2021 mens and women’s matches. The 2005 and 2012 match’s are underrated too
Day 6 of recommending Adam my 10 lists that he should do sometime in the future: -12 most shocking kickouts in WWE history -10 worst NXT Takeover matches ever -15 WWE champions that should’ve held on to the belt WAY longer than they actually did -10 worst mistakes WWE made with Roman Reigns -10 best wrestling matches that lasted under 10 minutes -15 best in-ring wrestling debut matches of all time -Adam’s 10 most overrated WWE matches ever -10 Wrestlemania matches that should’ve been that years main event -12 worst sellers in wrestling history -10 reasons to look forward to wrestling in 2021 (I’ll be doing this until half of these ideas are done by Adam himself. Happy New Year, Adam. Love you lots!!)
Totally agree with your #1
Finally someone accepted that 2018 was the best Rumble
good video
Bobby Heenan's "Yes! yes! yes! he did it!! I told you monsoon" brings a tear to my eye. Just masterwork story telling.
2020 had a couple great moments but it had too many missed moments for me to love it like everyone else does
The Nakamura win.... That was a great feeling. I forgot how good that rumble was. I always go back to 2001 as the best... But that also has nostalgia glasses on with one
Here's a fun fact: Since with 2014 every superstar that has eliminated Roman Reigns has won the Royal Rumble. (With the exception of 2019 since he was out battling leukemia.)
Can we appreciate how low-key funny Morticia Badams is as a nickname?
Im way late but IMO 01 was the best. Had a lot of variety to it, a cheesy celeb moment, pops to the top stars were great especially (Rock&Austin) but the matches leading up to the Rumble were all mostly fun.
Referring to 10’ Punks gimmick and look as “if Disney did Charles Manson” was just a spectacular comparison. 😂
for me 2020 was better than 2010, but the first two, totally agree.
i liked the video immideatley when u put the one that shinske won nr 1
The moment the standoff between Balor, Nakamura, Reigns vs Cena, Mysterio, and Orton happened, I thought to myself "This... might actually be better than 2001!" Then when Nakamura won, it cemented itself as the better Royal Rumble.
Finally a moment where I can say I was there. The 2019 rumble was my first ever event of any kind in person. The Becky chants were real and you got caught in the moment
Number 1 was well deserved. Plus that bit after the match when asked who Nakamura would want to face.
