You are speaking truth. I did not learn the importance of rest until i got sick and was on my back for six months. Believe me when I say my work at the Fortran 500 got done without me--in fact I was downsized 5 months later. People got rides to their appointments, church programs were done without a hitch and i think i had two visitors and received one get well card. Two preachers laughed at me when i walked with a cane due my limited mobility issues. Believe me, i changed my priorities quick and found another church and took off all the hats I was wearing. I wish I had received this message at a younger age but even now i have to remember not to take on so much to please others or myself.

Wow! So sorry you had bad experiences with people who were supposed to be representing the Lord. God bless you. Thank you for sharing though. Today this video helped nudge me to balance my life more. I have missed out on my evening walks several days in a row trying to catch up on work, but that leaves me feeling less energized and with higher blood pressure. Also focusing on work means less time for my teens and my window with them is closing as they prepare to move into adulthood.

    1. You don’t have to EARN rest. (Gurl pleez) IT IS a necessity and YOU ARE WORTHY! 2. The less you do, the better you do it. “Laser” focus on ONE THING at a time. Do one thing well. DO NOT default to being overwhelmed. 3. REST is productive…to your job, health, peace. (Ultimately if you don’t rest you won’t have these things) AGAIN…YOUR WORTH IS NOT tied to your production. 4. REST makes up the symphony (music) of life. We ALL give our different gifts. The natural rhythm of life requires rest. 5. Its okay to QUIT. (Pause, pivot, change your mind, etc.) ESPECIALLY THINGS THAT NO LONGER SERVE YOU. You do NOT have to stay committed to ANYTHING. There is nothing wrong with taking an inventory of your life. Evolution is necessary, important, inevitable and WISE! 6. The world will NOT fall apart if your rest (REPEAT!) We are human beings with finite resources and finite energy. Discovering this correction could be a good thing. 7. YOUR ARE ENOUGH. HARD STOP! Walk in this TRUTH. Because you exist, you are worthy…and your life will change. 8. You do NOT have to do EVERYTHING. Give YOURSELF GRACE! 9. Done is better than prefect. Perfection doesn’t exist. 10. REST is a courageous act. We have to UNLEARN the ways of how we exhaust ourselves. REST IS YOUR BIRTHRIGHT! (WAKE UP) The American dream is a SCAM! BE FREE.

5:36 I love this point! Rest creates rhythm. You can't play all the notes at the same time. There's space between the notes so you can hear pleasing patterns. We need space between our activities and even our thoughts to appreciate and evaluate them.

Every increment is attainable and you deserve now. In the here and now. Consider becoming stress resilient. There's no eliminating all stressful stimuli from life, because stress-free is a level of unattainable perfection. Stress resilience means life can remain imperfect and you'll still be OK.

This weekend I got to hang out with a friend and we actually hung out away from our houses in a hotel and we actually got to rest and both of us were tired but we actually got to rest and swim and go to a street fair and fall asleep and take a nap and we have jobs that we have to uplift people and encourage them to thrive so I just want to thank you for reminding me even after this day Sunday I have to carve out rest for myself during the course of the week so that I'm not overwhelmed while I'm working thank you for your love and support

Thank you so much. 🥹💛 And I completely agree with you. We can spa day to death, but if we are unrested then none of that matters. And what you said about the jobs, YES!!! Honestly, I feel you. But as someone who struggles with depression, when you're burned or not well, sometimes then dishes ain't getting done tonight. Lol. It's gonna be okay. Sometimes them clothes aren't getting folded right out the drier. Some folks can't afford a maid service and everything is on them. It's gonna be okay. Life can be heavy and illness makes it even heavier. We gotta give grace to ourselves and others. We're doing the best we can.

Thank you so much for explaining. I don't know what you've been through but I feel we may have been on the same wavelength at some point. My issue with Black Excellence started with the racism I've seen in church (yes church and didn't really start there but I saw evidence to the connection and the detriment to society). I hope you could start some kind of group (I've been wanting to start an inspirational group like this but I simply do not have time (but have been wanting to do a small recording/podcast every once in a while)

Your words are pure truth, light and beauty. A reminder of what is natural and real. We can all fall into the hype of what's synthetic and unattainable because it is an illusion. I'm going somewhere for a season and then Im moving for sure to a place that I really want to be at another environment that is far away that I'm excited about going. I can't allow my excitement or negitivite people about where I know I'm going to move to soon after I get the cash I need to get there mess up the the vibe and the gratefulness if speaking and seeing with my own eyes how with time and hard as well as faith I made it to this place. I do honor my feelings and the places I want to go and the things I want to see because life is short.
