Back in the day, my grandfather had a single-shot 10-ga. shotgun with a 32" barrel on it. It was definitely an 80-90 yard capable shotgun that he used to hunt geese, ducks, and wild turkeys. He called it "Long Tom", but I never knew if that was some sort of model name or just his name for it. It was quite a gun, especially seeing as to how Gramps was 5'5" tall and weighed about 120 lbs. soaking wet.

@@jaebassist Thanks for the reply, Tony. I really like hearing from others about what they did with inherited things, including guns that have been in the family for a while. I don't know. Maybe that nickname was common back then for any shotgun with a long barrel and some extra range to it? When my Dad was in the army, we lived in Huntsville. I really liked the southern states. Always seemed like "home" to me, even though we moved every 3 years for his job. I guess being born in Georgia left its mark on me.

I appreciate being able to add to my store of info. 🙂 👍 On a somewhat related topic, I've looked high and low for a 10-ga, coach gun but can only find them in 12-ga. Many of these are replicas of old west style shotguns and mostly seem to be of Italian make. Have you seen any short 10-ga. double barrel shotguns that weren't 100+ years old?

I am a woman standing at 5' 3" and 150 lbs, I love shooting my 1990 Browning BPS pump 10 gauge with a 30 inch barrel! I named her Ophelia. I grew up hunting, because there were guns around my dad educated me on how important safety was. My dad also had a side that enjoyed teasing me the way he was. Dad would take me out shooting in preparation for the upcoming season. I begged to be a part of a goose hunt, my first. Dad smiled as we got out of the truck to practice shooting grandpa’s 10ga goose gun. Dad had me aim high into a tree just so I got the full effect. His plan worked incredibly well. It hurt so bad, I would never think of picking up a shotgun and firing it. You brought back so many bad memories Scott. I’m a forever fan man. Keep it up 👍

I thought I wouldn't have issue and I have never been more wrong. Scott shoots this like I shoot my 556. It's ridiculous. Scott, you are amazing.
