Chivas's primary problem was not only having to share a city, but a stadium with a far superior team, the LA Galaxy. They've won the MLS Cup five times, appeared in the Cup Final four more times and brought in David Beckham to be their star. The only thing the Goats ever won was the Western Conference… once.

UKI Hatter Sadly no one pays attention to them. I found out when I googled them because I was curious and wanted to know what happened to them ever since they reached the Europa League final. It's a real shame what happened to them.

You don't know how many teams have died in Romania in the last 3 years, such as Petrolul Ploiești, Universitatea Cluj or Oțelul Galați. They had been refounded by the suppoters and now they are trying to reach the first league within 3-4 years.

I don't know if Vergara had said he wanted to take advantage of the "Latin American population" but Chivas de Guadalajara is a Mexican team so Im pretty sure Vergara wanted to take advantage of the huge Mexican American population in LA specifically.

Seraphim Yeah, that was his plan. It didn’t work in the long-term. Chivas USA started off well, but they fell off drastically after the first few years, and it didn’t help that the LA Galaxy was the best team in MLS for most of Chivas’ existence, so they were always being overshadowed by their rivals. I’m optimistic LAFC will do much better than Chivas did. MLS is in much better shape now than 10 years ago.

the best Yeah. I think LAFC will be a different story. They seem very ambitious and they’re located right in downtown LA, unlike the Galaxy. If the Galaxy aren’t careful, they’ll find themselves like the forgotten older sister after the hotter, younger sister comes to town. They can’t afford another bad season this year.

LAFC = Let's All Forget ChivasUSA

Was a bit weird seeing RDFC, a team I supported since 2003 (and still watch the reformed club in the Southern League) in this video amongst all these big European clubs, but in our heyday we did make a name for ourselves nationally with our rapid climb through the English football pyramid from a village club to a League 1 club playing some teams that have since made it up to the Premier League, thanks to the backing of Max Griggs of the Dr Martens boots company. The reformed club has been going well and we're hopefully going to move up into the Southern Premier (level 7 of the pyramid) next season, although we probably will never reach the level that RDFC reached.

u should do one for BEERSCHOT, located in Antwerp Belgium!

I was a massive Rushden & Diamonds fan as I grew up next to Nene Park and watched them against Arsenal pre season and the fa cup against Leeds. Loved the club and was gutted when they went under :(

There must have been many defunct football teams. Gold Coast United and North Queensland Fury are two such teams from the Australian A League with extremely short histories.

Chivas always was the rear of Jokes in MLS Circles, and it being the example of delaying true promotion/ acquisitiion.

I thought teams like Darlington F.C. or Wimbledon F.C. would be on the list, maybe even Moor Green.

Nice to see Rushden & Diamonds get a mention. Many a weekend was spent going to games home and away. Saw Lee Tomlin and Yannick Bolasie before they hit the big time.

Right now, AFC Rushden & Diamonds sits 1st in the Southern league division 1 East, or the 8th tier, with 63 pts.

Beerschot in belgium doesn't exist anymore first they merged with germinal ekeren but went bankrupt and after that their supporters went to support wilrijk who changed their name to beerschot-wilrijk currently in 2nd division after just missing promotion to 1st division

They went bankrupt in 1982. PAS Tehran FC 🇮🇷 won the AFC Champions League in 1993. They went bankrupt in 2007. Liaoning FC 🇨🇳 won the AFC Champions League in 1990. They went bankrupt in 2020. I like how some people think Rangers are no longer the same club, but that isn't true lmao. If you are to google Rangers on the UEFA website, it clearly shows the the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup, which was won in 1972. Sure, we aren't the "dominant" team we used to be, but we are still the same club. All about the Rangers :)

Chivas USA and Chivas are 2 different clubs. Though Chivas did own Chivas USA. MLS eventually bought it and shut it down.

Instead of just saying cork celtic you could've mentioned league of Ireland teams in general, most struggle financially (in 2016 the FAI gave only 5000 euro to each club) and many have come and gone. Drumcondra, Mervue united, cork bohemians, sporting fingal, monaghan united, Kilkenny City, Kildare County, Dublin City, Dublin United and a few others.

aye the rangers are the same club , yet they had to apply for a football licence to play their first game in the 3rd division against brechin. a game they played under the name sevco ecause they hadnt chosen a name to call their new club yet. they eventually settled on the rangers ltd. they couldnt use rangers football club because that club is in liquidation.

David McIntyre yep as per uefas rules company and club are indistinguishable and one the same. If a company goes so does the club, this is why rangers weren't allowed to play in Europe for three year as they didn't have the necessary 3 years of accounts and why the players were able to leave for nothing in 2012. "Club" is just a name given to a company and its collective assets.

Well technically, I think it a company called 'Rushden & Diamonds (2008) Ltd' still exists, but the old club all but ceased to exist in the summer of 2011. The FA recognised our current guise, AFC R&D as a reformed club, so some fans argue it's a continuation of the old club.
