I haven’t read the contract, but IAAL and I’ve never understood how the UFC can sign an X-fight contract where they agree to offer the fighter a certain number of fights per year (y) and the fighters will have their next X fights in the UFC. Or not. Or the UFC has no obligation to do anything at all. Supposedly the UFC is required to offer the fighter y fights a year until they’ve had X fights with the organization. Or the UFC can offer the fighter no fights and say they’ve been cut! How is that a contract? What obligation, if any, does the UFC actually have to a fighter who signed an X-fight contract? What’s the consideration? How is this not an illusory contract? These are legal terms, please don’t answer if you don’t know what I’m talking about. Now, I don’t do contracts for a living but it was one of my favorite subjects in law school and I always did well in contracts classes and on the bar exam (I thought it was the easiest part, anyway). I remember eddie alvarez' contract leaked but that was a long time ago, I don’t remember what it said and I don’t really care. If the contracts operate the way it’s always appeared, I can’t understand how they can be considered legal contracts. I also don’t practice in Nevada.
