I’d guess 170, 185, or 125. Middleweight bc the prior jump down is 15lbs and the next jump up is 20lbs. Welterweight bc the prior jump down and next jump up is 15lbs, and flyweight bc getting any grown man down to 125lbs has to be hard af and miserable af. Even CCC said “I suffer to make 125lbs.” Great idea, would take a shitload of research. Bc I doubt that’s something you can just Google.

No Masvidal vs Till? Jorge went from obscure, hadn’t won a fight in over 2 years. Then Vs Till, he had a KO of the year nominee vs a big natural middleweight, then KO of all time in the next fight. Pre Darren Till, Masvidal wasn’t on anyone’s radar
@nyphon
Жыл бұрын
Well... like you literally point out it took 2 performances that saved their careers.
@panspermiapancakes
Жыл бұрын
Jorge wasn't on the chopping block. He lost decisions to Wonderboy and Maia who were at the top of their game at the time. Fighting Till didn't necessarily save Masvidal's career because it didn't need saving, it just helped skyrocket his popularity and he was no longer "that one guy" on fight night cards. lol Granted, it's hard to say what the UFC would have done if Till had beat him, but I think Jorge's career was safe, he wasn't creating waves with the promotion, he always took his fights and showed up and he wasn't causing problems at the time and had been with the promotion forever. I think things would have stayed the same for him as they had been going in the first place. The fame he achieved from beating Till and Askren, turned him into his own worse enemy in the long run.
@Dukeflyhawker
Жыл бұрын
@@panspermiapancakes I agree on all but the last point. This last stage of his career took him from worthless to $6 million net worth. As overrated as those 3 wins made him, for his career and earnings, it was well worth it, despite all the losses and troubles since.

The video is about fighters who had their careers saved from a single win, not guys who were propelled into stardom from a single win.
@KinnereyB
Жыл бұрын
@@nyphon Well, we don’t have Askren without Till. If Masvidal had lost to Till, he would have been on a 3 fight skid right at the start of his late 30’s. Without Till, no Askren. Without Askren, no Nate. So no, I’d say the Till fight saved his career, and the Askren fight propelled him into temporary super stardom. Post Till is when he began to talk differently. It’s when he started to use the whole baptizing people line. He walked into a title fight having gone 3-2, after winning a fight with a madeup belt but brilliant marketing by the UFC. None of that happens if he doesn’t KO Darren Till.
Video idea- who is behind MMA on point? Who trains, and how did you fall in love with MMA (favorite fighters/fights)?

Video idea: greatest gate keepers of all time
@ogreface8
Жыл бұрын
Love that idea. Gate keepers get a bad wrap, but being a gate keeper means being better than the vast majority of your weight class, and you're able to overcome most hopeful prospects. The most hyped up and coming fighters often have their careers TRASHED by a gate keeper. Brunson vs. Shabazyan and Cerrone vs. Hernandez comes to mind. Beating a gate keeper, however, means you've broken into the cream of the crop, you've proven yourself as a legit talent, and you're undoubtedly one of the best in your division. Derrick Lewis, Cowboy Cerrone, Neil Magny, and Derek Brunson come to mind as noteworthy gate keepers. Gate keepers only lose to the best, so they must be pretty good.
