You may have missed the F-104 Starfighter. With a published speed of 2,459 km/hr, it should be somewhere in the top 5 on your list.

you may have missed "dedicated Interceptor" in the title...

The F-111 was never designed or used as an interceptor. It was designed and used as a deep penetrating, low-level strike fighter. That's pretty much the opposite of an interceptor. The US Navy auditioned the F-111 as a potential interceptor but it failed miserably and they went back to using F-4s until the F-14 became available.

Actually, it was originally designed as a carrier based fleet defense fighter. The navy didn't like it. To big, side by side seating, canopy didn't give 360 degree view, ect.

Robert McNamara said there wasn’t enough thrust in Christendom to turn the F-111 into a fighter aircraft. That said, in Operation Linebacker II, the NVA couldn’t do much to stop them.

Your speed chart for each aircraft is waaaaaaaaaay OFF, example: F-4 Phantom is a MACH 2.27 Aircraft then you have the Draken above it as faster when it only goes a max of MACH 2.0, while the F-111 Has a top speed of MACH 2.5, the F-106's TOP MACH was 2.31......you guys n gals need to revise this list and remove the Navy version of the F-111 as it lost out in competition to the F-14. Oh and the english electric lightning's top speed was 2.27 MACH. Tornado is a MACH 2.2 aircraft and you have it faster then the F-4 Phantom.

You dropped the ball on this one my dear BIG TIME!!

You forgot potentially the fastest of all even though it never past the prototype and developed before the SR-71 the YF-12. Why I put this here is because the F111B was for the navy and never past the prototype stage. The F111 did carry on with the Air Force but not the navy.

@@annoyedcat9291 yes you are right but read carefully I said "before the SR-71 the YF-12." The YF-12 was built before the SR-71 as an interceptor. The YF-12 led into the SR-71.

The F-106 only had one J-75 engine I know worked on them the last active duty squadron in the U.S.A.F not the air guard units, the 5th FIS phased them out in 84 for the F-15

Mig 25 is also used by India.

@@woooster71 And it had the Height record when one intercepted the U2 but had to fly higher than it as it overshot it lol and they where in spacesuits at 80,000ft and the Lightning flew 85,000ft as it overshot without Spacesuits lol

The Panavia Tornado is not a purely british Plane! Panavia officially was a german company but in fact it was a german, british and italian mixture!

Published maximum speeds was 2,150 Km/h for Draken and 2,414 km/h for Lightning F6 (though the F3 was reported to be faster, the only jet fighter ever to intercept Concorde in its day. Tornado F3 had a maximum speed of 2,400 km/h. The RAF aircraft were flown with full internal fuel load, not sure about American Chinese or Russian?

F-111 was a deep penetration bomber and they did well thanks.

You are missing the F-14, the F-14 should be there

Again you have screwed up. The YF-12 was a Mach 3 interceptor skin to the SR-72. By far the fastest interceptor ever built. Now before anyone points out that it never went beyond the testing stage of development, neither did the F-111B.

I think her performance measurement and criteria are off or skewed to a particular view. She probably need to get a pilot license. She need to set the condition of speed like at 40,000 ft or 50,000 ft...metric kilometer, mph, march number...afterburner...and time frame. Some of those jets would not be able to intercept a target if it runs out of gas or out of its flight envelop. A lot of after the fact bullshit like "Designed to intercept Drones." Drones are a 21 century thing...
