We used to make them entertaining and they still did what they needed to do for business. So why everything has to look like shit these days is beyond me except for one thought: if the advertising industry is dead as many people say it is, why would anyone with talent and brains get into that industry today? Advertising is not attracting the same talent it once did. Talent seems to be mostly in the Bay area today.

dicky njosh I thought the same thing as I watched and laughed. Especially getting to #11 and #11.5, to think that when those came out, there would be a day I would have a platform to watch a compilation of those commercials, on purpose, when I otherwise skip the commercials on that same platform.

So true. Reminds me of when we took our son, who was five at the time, to Disney. He participated in “Jedi training.” There is a part when the padawan’s have to fight Vader with a light saber and then use the force to close a door to lock Vader away. My son was so happy right after it was over. He felt empowered. Later though, on the train ride back to the car I could see he was deep in thought. He turned to me and said, with a serious face, “I don’t think I really used the force to close the door.” I could see that he was thinking that the force wasn’t a real thing and he was sad about it. What do you say to a kid about that? Bitter sweet memory.

My father had the luxury model of a old car that we got for cheap and he had to rip the acoustic dampeners from the back as he wasn't able to hear the engine while driving ... the car was that silent inside and the engine was a loud rear placed boxer ... you couldn't tell if the engine was running
