The one video game villain that comes to mind who becomes obsessed with the hero is Emil Blonsky/The Abomination from Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction. He tries to capture Bruce Banner/The Hulk because he could transform back and forth in order to reverse the gamma transformation of his wife Nadia, who became that due to a botched attempt to treat her cancer with gamma radiation therapy. He ended up being exposed to gamma radiation, became the Abomination, and becomes insane. When his wife dies, Blonsky blames Banner and tries to flood a city by destroying a dam just to spite Banner.

I would of honestly put Vergil on this list, Dante's twin brother always had an obsession for more power that was pretty much his underlying personality trait in devil may cry 3, but then you hear his side of the story from V in 5 and the lengths both he and Urizen go to fight Dante including ripping how own son's arm off, creating a portal to literal hell just to get a fruit that came from the blood of both of their hometown's residents, hatching a quite frankly insanely convoluted plan involving both his brother and his son, and then finally assuming that his brother wouldn't outright kill Urizen so he can merge with Urizen, and revive Vergil with enough strength to fight Dante. And this isn't including the fact Vergil literally came back from being disintegrated as Nelo Angelo.

Finally somebody giving origins the recognition it deserves. Cant say anymore then what you've already said about the story, you said everything that needs saying. It was incredible. I'll add the boss fight against deathstroke was easily the best in the series and one of my all time fave boss fights ever.

I still miss the opening theme music from their videos. It had a certain charm to it.

I'm so happy to see FFXIV on this list and so high too. Zenos was definitely fixated on the WoL and how he would go as far as self termination when he lost.

Arkham Origins is really good. Just as good as the other games, people were unfairly harsh with it for what feels like no real reason. Granted it wasn’t the revolution that City was to Asylum but that doesn’t make it bad.

"Before the planet explodes." He does realize Metroid Prime was *before* Super Metroid, right? I'm questioning whether he's played the game. Furthermore, Meta Ridley isn't a robot, that's Mecha Ridley in Metroid Zero Mission, which is *before* Metroid Prime. Meta Ridley is a cyborg.

This list, as well as all other lists What Culture Gaming read out in their videos, are not made by them. And the members of What Culture Gaming don’t even known a lot about video games, so this guy doesn’t know anything about the Metroid timeline. Just like how Jess thinks all Zelda fans are stupid for being confused about The Legend of Zelda franchise having 3 timelines thanks to Hyrule Historia, when Hyrule Historia helped Zelda fans better understand The Legend of Zelda franchise and its 3 timelines. I haven’t played a lot of Metroid games, but even I know how Ridley became Meta Ridley in Metroid Prime.

What about in Mass Effect 1 where the Reapers become obsessed with Shepard for the next 2 games? 👀

I really enjoyed Arkham Origins and would love to see a sequel.

I would of put Cia from the first Hyrule warriors. She literally raised an entire army to war with and conquer Hyrule because she was tired of link always ending up with Zelda. She literally has dozens of pictures and statues of link in her castle

Origins was amazing. It's a game deserving orbs remaster and then some.

Hard agree on Arkham origins. It wasn't the best in the series in terms of game play. There were some pacing issues and other issues, but the story the cinematic feel and the execution of set pieces was phenomenal. It also had the best boss fights in the series

Yes thank you! Batman Arkham origins is my favorite one of those games! The rest are great but Origins is just phenomenal! That fight with Deathstroke! Perfection. The whole assassination race! Joker just in general! Every time I click the Arkham bundle I'm just wishing origins will be there and then getting sad when it isn't.

the deathstroke fight in origins is literally one of if not the best fight in the entire Arkham franchise.

Ridley doesn’t become Meta Ridley straight away, as he only became that thanks to being rebuilt into Mecha Ridley, the final boss of Metroid Zero Mission. Him becoming Meta Ridley was due to his regeneration capabilities.

Nothing about Zagi from Tales of Vesperia? Encountered very early, he becomes mad with the thrill of fighting Yuri, to the point that you need to fight him multiple times simply because he enjoys the rush.

One villain that came to my head when it came to this kind of situation, is zagi from vesperia, he becomes obsessed with Yuri because zagi wants to try to come out on top, even allowing his body to go extreme changes, such as replacing his arm with one with a blastia core in it, I mean his whole gimmick is obsessed with the main character, the thrill of fighting Yuri Lowell, and the desire, the madness of beating him, and in all technicality, Yuri was zagi's only friend, cause zagi pushed everyone else away, and pushed himself to some pretty dark lengths to get what he wants

9 : I haven't played Portal 2, yet, but, doesn't the Still Alive song at the end of the 1st Portal reveal that Glados doesn't hate Chell for destroying her ? 8 : The Joker's the perfect example of an unreliable narrator. He, himself, is known to change his narrative on a whim. The only recurring theme (though not a constant) is Batman's involvement, so we still don't know if the Arkham Joker's origin story is real - especially since he instinctively jumped on the occasion to manipulate his psychiatrist Harleen.

THANK YOU EWAN!!!! It pisses me off that almost no one appreciates Origins... It was an awesome game, with awesome moments and fights... We get to use the batwing we saw batman in his beginning and - more important - it was one more game to play as Batman. I really dont get why the hate for this game (and for the Vita one, Origins Blackgate), because they were good games... It is like star wars fans winning about wanting more movies and then wanted to kill themselves when episodes 1-3 were released. It might not be as good as the original, but it is more!

I never got to play arkham origins the first time around so I am bummed that they have no plans to remaster it cuz I’ve always wanted to try it for myself

Honestly i loved playing arkham origins when i first played it however when i found out what other people thought, i was confused and didn't understand why. Even tho its a great game, it may not be as great as the other arkham games by rocksteady but its still a great game with the best deadshot fight we will ever get
