as far as merch goes: if you did a t shirt/hoodie that had a drip design from the shoulders that looks like a drippy glaze, it would look so cool.

Thanks this sounds really great. One needs some great basics. But as few as possible. Also, wet rags, mop and bucket, bakers racks, everything on wheels, giant car sponges, ripped foam pieces for rougher work, hammer, rubber hammer, platters for drape mold, recycled printer paper,

Never start real size pottery yet, only miniature pottery at this moment, so this is a good video before I start throwing on bigger wheel. Thank you, very informative.

Love your wacky energy! As for favorite tools, I do a lot of sgraffito-over-underglazes, and I love the Xiem ribbon tools for carving through the layers, esp. one which has an elongated small oval at the tip - perfect!

Hi, Jon! I love your work!! Could you possibly go into more detail on how to use the diamond spinning trim tool? I tried the bottle cap version and my pots would get caught on the excess clay being trimmed and then and fall down. How do i prevent that if im not using the little pieces of clay around the side? Thank you!

So no kiln wash on the Advancer shelves at all? Couldn't tell from your video or their site having never seen these shelves before. I really like the idea. And BTW I love my Mudtools trim tool too. I checked out the grinder discs and was a bit taken aback by the price. I may still have to get one as I tend to screw up glazes when playing around with "I wonder..."

Hello from England! I love your fun, positive energy videos. I am a bronze & ceramic sculptor, but find it hard to sell work that is quite expensive. I've always wanted to try pottery as I love working with clay, so now have a wheel too. I am watching my way through all of your videos. Throwing is hard! For a pure beginner, could you please suggest 10 items to throw in order of ease? I'm not sure what I should be attempting first. I can just about center, throw a coaster, a cylinder & a very small vase. What order would you suggest so that I can improve steadily? Thank you for sharing all of your useful tips. Keep making your lovely videos. They are a delight to watch 😊. Helen

He didn’t really answer this question. Bowls are good because they are simple. Making the same thing over and over really teaches you. I tried to make everything at the beginning and had many failures. It was sad because I elaborately decorated them. Mugs sell very well but you have to learn to attach handles and make them. At the beginning you are very much learning the touch and feel of clay. I found that every 6 months that I was better. Wobbly mugs were good to practice glaze on.

@@Cate7451 Thank you for your suggestions. Gosh 2 years have passed now and I did find that little cylinder egg cups were brilliant practice. Then espresso cups, spoon rests, mugs and salt pots. I still need to attempt bigger bowls. Having the clay the perfect consistency really helps. I love throwing pottery. For anyone starting, just keep at it. It is so rewarding xx

I was shocked to see a grinding tool in a studio. I was taught to never sand or grind my work, for any reason. Risk inhaling glass particles? Silicosis is not pretty, so if you're going to recommend such practices, I would suggest you at least make it clear to your viewers how imperative it is to wear a mask. Even better, become skilled enough that sanding or grinding is unnecessary.
