10 Dreadlock MISTAKES

Hellooooo! I'm back!
To get back into things, I thought I'd share some mistakes I've made with my partial dreadlocks (or elf locks/fairy knots/ect.) in hopes that you won't make the same ones!
Thanks so much for watching! Let me know what else you'd like to see from me!
Much love :)

    So happy you did this video! I've had one dreadlock for 3 years and i have the same issue with it being thinner at the root and i didn't know why and it's totally because i'm accidentally pulling hair out of the dreadlock and not really realizing it. So thank you for mentioning that! Your dreadlocks are looking amazing and cant wait for my new ones to mature. I just recently added about 10 dreadlocks and messed up, they're too thin and not staying dreaded especially at the root. Gonna be brushing them out and restarting, so wish me luck! -Jamee

    Thank you!! I wish mine were thinner haha! But I guess I'd rather have them thick enough to stay attached through my anxious pulling 😂😄

    My partial dreads are only 2 days old, I did them myself, and sectioned them myself, but I like that style, it looks more natural then making all the sections boxy ! Your dreads look great!

    It took me forever to get my partials right! I have just 3 right now at the bottom row and I have no issues with having to separate, idk why maybe it’s my hair texture? Glad to how yours have matured, I would definitely separate those big ones into 4, they look amazing tho!

    Thinking of starting my dread journey and putting a few in but my hairs only about 4/5 inches long so don’t know how that would work plus I’m currently growing out my undercut too. Awwww love your ratties. I’ve had rats for years, they’re amazing aren’t they!💕🐭

    Hi there! Your dreads are amazing! I started my partial dreads today and yours look so similar to mine! I also sectioned and made them myself. I got 7 of them. I got a question though. I started mine out pretty thick already, because I didn’t want super thin dreads. How much bigger do they get over some months/years? I also crochet them alot, so I hope I didn’t damaged them too much. How often to you maintain the roots? Thank you for the video! I loved it. Keep it up!

  • @Rooskitooski

    @Rooskitooski

    5 жыл бұрын

    A good rule of thumb is that they will double in thickness and shrink to half the length, so mine probably more than doubled in thickness. Also, crocheting can be very damaging so do it sparingly! Just let them do their thing and palm roll a lot! :) don't worry if they look a little messy at first. It took mine almost 2 years to fully mature.

    Love the video, so honest of you, and some great info, Do not pull out the loose hair, as when the hair grows some falls out naturally, and this is what stays in the dread, and helps the dread grow, when you dread, you do not loose hair. Twist your dreads, if you want them to be thinner, twisting them regular, will keep them thinner, and looking more manicured, only wash the roots in water only, if you do not use any products, and try to stay away from conditioner it wlll leave residue and can cause build up and mold. You do not look ready to have locs .......it is a journey, and your hair becomes your roots, like the roots of a tree, it is not just for fashion. but it is for your soul. You seem to be embarrassed about your locs, so maybe now is not the time for you.

    Do u still have ur dreads? If so could u do an update and a wash routine video? I'm wondering how often to wash dreads and how often to was loose hair and maybe I could shampoo and conditioner my loose hair upside down at the sink not wetting my dreads ever 3-4days

  • @Rooskitooski

    I do, yes! I've been having some financial trouble and I don't have a device that takes clear video right now, but once I do, that is the first thing I'm going to record! Thank you for your recommendation! Also, I wash and condition my loose hair upside down in the shower, but it's hard to not get the locks wet so invest in a nice hair dryer! :)

    Question! You mentioned an oil conditioner for your dreadlocks. What do you use? How much do you use? How often? I thought conditioner caused build up. Yours look so soft.

  • @Rooskitooski

    @Rooskitooski

    3 жыл бұрын

    Meggie Thank you for asking! I use a Dolly Locks conditioning oil and it’s just a few drops that you rub onto your palms and roll in your hair. It’s made with coconut, avocado, jojoba, and hempseed oil and I do it super rarely, so I honestly think they stay pretty soft because I’m sure my undreaded hair gets a small amount of shampoo/conditioner on them no matter how hard I try to keep them separated! Haha when I brushed one of my bigger ones out (which I plan on doing an update video on soon) I had a little bit of buildup and fuzz in there, but it wasn’t too bad! A good baking soda type soak every once in a while should keep it under control. Hope that helps!

    Hi Sweetie!' Yesterday I decided that I wanted to try having dreads but only the lower part of the hair. I know nothing so I´m educating myself right now by watching videos on youtube. It´s much harder than I thought so I´m really nervous. You are such a beautiful girl and I think that it is really good to hear about what you should think about so mistakes can be avoided. But Reanna , there is something I have to ask you. Do you have a blowdryer now or do you need one? I have more than one and I would love to send one to you so you don´t have to walk around with wet hair all day. My name is Veronika and I´m from Sweden. I would love a video where it is slowly, slowly showed have you take a dread and make sure that the you can see fully how you attach it to your hair. Thank You for a very good video. I want to see more!! Veronika
