God, I thought we all gonna control Ellie all the way since she kind of a replacement after Joel's death. Why the game take a huge turn making us control Abby to kill Ellie in the end? Yup. Ellie has spent the last three day stalking through Seattle like some kinda ninja assassin. Ellie is killing sentries without alerting others within twenty feet. Ellie is using every resource to be precise and lethal. As Abby opens that door and turns right, Ellie had three solid seconds to make her move. Abby's journey could have been ended by a blade or arrow to the neck or perhaps a bullet through the brain. Unfortunately, for whatever stupid reason, Ellie cursed loudly and swung a rotten piece of wood.

Ellie ruined Abby's life but it wasn't enough for her and so by pursuing it further more people she cared about got killed. Both got revenge on the other but neither of them come out of it better for going through with it.

It's so dumb. In the first game a much younger Ellie managed to take down a full grown psychotic cannibal like David using only her switchblade. But now she can't beat Abby even though she has a ton of guns and explosives at her disposal. The plot armor in this scene is absurd.

Calvin AG The problem isnt that the story showed multiple sides. Joel dying was inevitable. It was the way he went out, and the fact that the story continued to introduce characters only to have them killed off and forgotten moments later. Jesse for example, was introduced, then killed off by abby and NEVER mentioned again. They try SEVERELY to force abby’s story down your throat and justify her actions. That and Ellie killed at least a hundred, maybe more on her way to deal with abby. Then when she finally gets there, she doesnt kill her? Which is not only insulting but makes the deaths of those who died beforehand COMPLETELY pointless. Abby is an unlikeable character in general.

Then Ellie, Dina and Tommy all go back home and live the happy life. But no, they make you stay as Abby a character no one likes or cares for and drag it out for a terrible unsatisfied ending.

Because the story called for it. I’m not happy with the ending due to her not killing Abby, I think she should’ve so the future regret would’ve been higher considering she actually did go through with it. The story calls for her to regret her choices so why not go all in and let her kill her all the way? That’s my main dislike from TLOU 2, not Joel’s death, not the time spent with Abby (even though it’s incredibly boring), and not Ellie being “too brutal” it’s that they took the correct ending away from us for what? I was not satisfied by the end

Abby is trash and is only tough in groups without groupes she's nothing

you know what could have been groundbreaking? if the game analysed your play style as ellie - how long it takes you to clear an area, what weapons you normally use and how well you use them - and scaled ellie's equipment and difficulty in this scene

@@csisver The firefly's cure wasn't a certainty, for all we know it could've ended up failing and just killed ellie. Even if it did, there is still all sorts of bandits and raiders and cultists that wouldn't have just gone away if the cordyceps got cured.

@@csisver I love how anyone who defends the Doctors or the fireflies actions about killing Ellie don't ever explicitly talk about Ellie. They just say "Joel was in the wrong, they were just trying to find a cure to save the world" but never talk about how wrong it is to say "a young girls life is worth it when we're talking about the greater good". No it fucking isn't. It's selfish, yes. But the Doctor was only selfish. Joel was selfish and did save her for selfish reasons but he was also morally correct. So the Doctor deserved the bricks, molotovs, nail bombs and shotgun ammo to the head that I kept giving him.

I'm talking about the diegesis of these characters, not the fact that the writer ignored that pregnant women, SPECIALLY ones with hard to come by skills like medicine would basically be kept in a bubble in a world like this.

Abby's psychotic revenge obsession put every single friend she had in harm's way and if Lev was 15 seconds late to that showdown she'd have gleefully slit the throat of a total stranger she knew to be pregnant. If you don't see her as the villain of this game you're delusional.

no one is a villain in this game. Ellie and abby are equally bad, Ellies probably a little worse. we grew up with her in the first game so obvi many will side with her during her actions. Ellie literally killed all of Abby's friends whilst abby only killed Joel.

Funny how hard they tried to make Ellie the bad character, yet abby was happy to kill a pregnant woman while Ellie did it to survive.

Elliott Blair after seeing both sides of the story you end up liking both characters. So at the very end almost drowning Abby I was hoping Ellie would not kill her seeing that Abby let Ellie go twice instead of killing her. If Ellie were to kill Abby then that would just make Ellie the villain. They ended it perfectly and set it up for a part 3.

She also, slept with her friend's boyfriend, with whom she was carrying a child?? Was about to kill a pregnant girl with no remorse, exactly like what happened with torturing Joel? So what, Im supposed to sympathize with her, for what exactly? Her amazing character developpment, or acts of redemptions? Pairing her with a kid is just lazy, especially since she is showing 0 remorse. Everytime shes jn a position of power, she abuses it. The only time she doesnt start a fight, is at the end, when Ellie saves and attacks her, because shes weak!

Watching Abby die over and over and over again just fills my cold heart with so much joy and happiness

This hands down is one of the best boss fights in gaming when i first played as ellie i was having to use everything to scrape by and then when i realized that ellie was playing like me my mind was blown

Watching Ellie creep around like that at 6:42 is really adorable.😆🤣 At first I hated the idea of making us play as Abby to fight Ellie but we get to see how badass Ellie really can be from Abby's perspective... Especially Grounded mode😲 the way she runs after you is terrifying

The funniest part is when you realise that Ellie at the age of 14, in the coldest time of the year (winter) could survive, take care of Joel, hunt (bring food), kill full grown men (the whole cannibal camp) using half of her arsenal, and for the most part - ONLY her switchblade, she even 1vs1 David - I real psychopath and a leader of a group, and you tell me that Ellie couldn't kill Abby with her WHOLE arsenal but instead hit her from behind with a wooden plank, she could just jump on her from behind like she did (even in left behind) and stabb until she would have died, or atleast shot her, but ok 👍🏻

What I think is more important is the fact that Joel allowed himself to be trapped in such a way, as he is one of the most brutal, efficient, and intelligent survivors out there. Why would he even reveal who he was after what he did?? It makes no sense for Joel to even BE in that scenario in the first place.

The title of the episode should be "Top 10 Ways The Last of Us 2 Should End".

There is actually another death animation for this encounter (I just figured this out earlier): Once Ellie gets to the 3rd and final stage (bow and trap mines), if the player is facing the wall and standing still for too long, Ellie will charge from behind and slit Abby's throat with her switchblade.
