    Electric Mountain Bike Network I didnt make the mistake to keep my batterie always highly charged. Cause li-ion batteries dont like that. Keep them at 50% charge for storage, load em up before u go. For storage over winter/some months keep at about 70% charge. Also store them under 15° C if possible. Will last for years that way.

    You guys made a mistake on storing/using/depleting batteries... When storing a battery you want leave it half way charged and stored in a cool dry place, also you only want to drain the battery to no less than 10-20% after a day of riding and doing a 90% charge vs a full charge will increase the longevity of the battery, other than that video is spot on! ;)

    I have the shimano steps motor and if you have any pressure on the pedal, ie resting your foot, when you switch on, you get an err13. To clear, switch off and on again with the pedals free. I also have my reverb dropper switch on the left, under the bars, which was catching the power mode levers and stopping them changing. I usually run my controls a bit loose so if i crash they move without breaking and i can reset them by hand. Knowing when to switch gear or power mode on the trail. I now ride in eco using the gears most of the time. With experience you get to treat the power mode like a front mech. If you change the power mode you may also then need to change gear to for traction..Can you confirm battery maintenance as im reading conflicting info. I use my ebike twice a week and usually charge after second ride, when down from 5 to 1 or 2 bars. They are very expensive to prematurely kill.

    Good tips apart from charging battery to 100% right after use and storing it like that. Store at 3.7 to 3.8v and don't charge a warm battery if you can help it, let it cool down at least. This is one of the reasons e-bikes are impractical for me being a casual user in the UK wanting to go out on the spur of the moment when the weather is nice lol. I fly RC planes etc and only charge up a few packs just before I go out which only takes 20 mins on a fast 2c charge from 3.8v, having to wait a few hours for a blast on my bike will likely stop me ever doing it lol, weather changes too quickly.

    I’ve got a giant reign and never charge past 60%. I get all day from 60% and then come home and charge to 60% again. Which is storage voltage. But if I did want it 100% then it takes about an hour to top up.

    Learning how to do anything by knowing what not to do is a terrific way to discover any new skill or habit. The big take away here is the battery, Steve mentioned it in a previous video which is important for me because for the first couple weeks of owning my eBike I was only charging the night before a ride. Also great point re: the banter, as a recent convert myself, I've copped my fair share from my riding buddies since indicating I was getting an eBike. But rather than bite back, I suggest they should try it first and offer to take them out & give them a ride. Helping to change attitudes one rider at a time! :D

Ive had a couple of issues with my bike, dropper fixed under warranty and now forks have gone back too. Not sure whether its because i am pushing it harder or extra weight or just unlucky. Ive only done 450kms and try to look after it between rides. I still love it though, just missing it haha

    i would say that the problem with shimano steps, is the display for the battery life. the last 2 bars should show 40% life, but in reality its nearer half that. also, im losing about 10% when its around freezing level. on average only getting about 20 miles in trail mode anyway. if you want to buy one of these bikes, you should factor in 5 or 6 hundred quid for a spare. You can blow through a battery in less than an hour and im only 11 stone.

    Hey EMBN! Ride Management! So...last Summer I my longest tour took about 9 hours with over 6 hours of pure riding! At the moment I am in an acceptable shape and I will try to ride about 12 hours...with probably 8-10 hours of pure riding in the next summer...what do think...is this possible on an emtb? I mean with the right power management! Will the battery last that long?

    A lot of the problems seem to do with low batteries. Why not invest in second battery or, better yet, bigger battery? So many of the Euro emtbs have tiny batteries, despite very high prices. Should be using 52v20ah batteries or better. Instead, see a lot still selling 36v crap.

  • @markotrieste

    You wouldn't believe the amount of dirt and grease I've pressured washed out of my wheel and bottom bracket bearings. They were filthy. On another note, my bike seems to squeak a lot and I can't figure out why;)

  • @Hookythehammer

    @Hookythehammer

    Жыл бұрын

    If you've not sorted that squeak out the first thing you wanna do is remove your seat post, clean it down (and wipe any muck from inside the down tube) then grease the seat post and inside the down tube thoroughly. Insert back in and wipe any excess grease away. Do the same with your saddle railings where they contact the seat post. These places are where I find most of my squeaks come from over the 43 years I've been riding bikes. Failing that it can be jockey wheels that need a clean and lube or pedal bearings/axles I find need an overhaul yearly to keep them running smooth and noise free. The seat post clean and grease up is your best starting point here tho. Happy riding.

    HAHA, When I was in Las Vegas for a convention, they had a 34 mile group ride to finish off the convention. I decided this would be a great time to try an E-MTB (especially since it was free). So I got the Trek Powerfly, and that thing was a super blast. I was tearing up the trail like a maniac before the ride even started. Then the ride started and I was having a blast, going up impossible hills like nothing. that is till my battery died @ about mile 20 of 34. I had 14 miles of pure hell on this beast. And to make it even worst, it got stuck on my granny gear. needless to say, I will not be getting an e-mtb any time soon.
