Ойын-сауық
All it takes to turn a pathetic villain in to a true threat is a great writer and a good retcon.

Gotta commend the Purpleman retcon. From an almost silly comic villian to a complete sicko/ manipulator, he's definitely changed into a more threatening villain!

Yeah, proof of that was the Jessica Jones series on Netflix. He was very very chilling.

Actually, Killgrave was always sort of a disturbing , perverted character, so it Isn’t really a retcon. It was mostly just a natural progression for both his character and his powers.
I've always thought it was weird that Condiment King keeps on showing up on supervillain lists, cause originally, he's just a stand up comedian that the Joker mind controlled into putting on a costume
I must say, the more complex Lex Luther Ive seen in some recent comic books is great. Not entirely evil but not a good guy, not silly, makes for a complex and compelling villain.

tbf wasn't lex luther mostly a "superman might turn evil" but im also slightly evil villian?
@kendomyers

@@kaiseremotion854 Depends on what youre looking at; a I'll admit Im not the biggest expert on Supes, but some of the comics/tv shows/ movies just made him a comically silly /stupid / evil character. It fit against Superman as the champion of the people against princes and billionaires; but it didnt make for a compelling villain. Theres plenty of comics too where Lex is a 3 dimensional man with a rational fear of Superman and a weak sense of morality / strong sense of superiority which let him do whatever he thought he needed to do, villainous or not.

He was good in some comics
Other villains who improved through retcons: Sinestro, going from a gimmick villain to a galactic level threat Black Manta: another one trick villain who became a well rounded character via rebooting.
About the Black Hand (William Hand) -- he was a loving riff on Bill Finger, who was known for keeping a notebook and jotting down ideas in it.
With this whole multiverse thing, old school Lex Luthor should make an appearance lol
I know this will be more subjective, but can you do like a top ten side kicks that complement their hero the best?
Kite Man. Hell yeah.

Why are you laughing? That's a massive laser cannon! Nothing funny about this whatsoever!
The entry bout Killgrave doesnt seem so much a retcon but a what hes up to next. With the main difference of character bein in his design.
I like the elseworld story by John Byrne, from 1999, "Generations" which re-imagined Lex Luthor to actually be the "Ultra-Humanite", who swapped his brain into Lex Luthor's body in 1939. As always thank you so very much for the video.
So is Jules the only employee at WhatCulture now? This is like what the 3rd video in a row he’s done for comics channel.
Didn't Hand go even more insane?
Great video what culture 👏 comics 👌
Can you do a video or me Jon Kent powers abilities and other things like that
Lex luthor sounds like Elon musk
@25Erix

I wouldn't go around compariing the two. Musk isn't as clever.
I know what we’re all wondering about the orb. How the F*** is that thing even alive. does it have a mouth or a some sort of breathing hole!”? How does it eat? Or even hear in fact since it has no ear drums. Seriously am I the only one freaking out? Can somebody give me some clarity.
What a great video
Thanks for the consent what culture this is a great channel I hope you guys really read this comment

He is cool in harley quinn animat3d series..go pacers
How about how spiderman would defeat every batman villain?
“Killing him quickly. Somehow, though, he survived.”
Somehow this is scary.
How you going to leave Mr Freeze off the list, one of the greatest things that Timm and Dini did?
@Sgtspork

One of MANY to be sure.. god, I love that series.
Kinda telling that Kilgrave is the only Marvel villain on this list.

Kinda telling you weren't paying attention, cause there was also that eyeball dude.
I just knew #1 would be Mr Freeze
3:29 - For anyone wanting a translation of what those (for some reason) German aliens/gremlins are saying: "Your airplanes will be upgraded/improved" "We are not here for you" "Yea, we need people. They are very valuable." "Very valuable, indeed..."
Definitely would have switched 1 and 2 but good list
6:16 that’s straight up the cryolator from fallout 4 the hell
Calendar Man: OK a bit weird and silly... Alright getting more sinister I like that... I'm sorry he WHAT?!
@Goldenkitten1

Sooooo am I the only one who did a double take at 6:24 with Calendar Man?
Wendy and Marvin. Ha!
Love ragdoll..old and new ..he is pretty funny sometimes..go Pacers
I feel like all you have to do to the Orb is poke him in the eye and he’s done 🤷🏾♂️ I guess not, dude wore a bandanna
How many times are you going to do this list with slight variations?
They needed serious improvement.
Is there a video on "super powers that aren't super powers"? Like for example how heroes have plot armor, resurrections, etc despite it not being a part of their power set.
Purple guy!
my only issue with calendar man is every day is technically a holiday of some kind.
The Callender Man was originally a weird character and so was Calulater Man but these characters were interesting because of numbers or data they could make use of they may not be powerful individuals but they were superior In other ways the technology they used in some fashion or not came from highly sought technology or they minds and I am surprised you don't mention The Thinker he was like Calulater Man and I believe he was a rival to the Thinker and Brainiac and Superboy Prime maybe returning in a future story in the JLs but not actually the way he left but as a Bizro Prime Boy Of Steel with a different power set?
Wow
Is it me or when i saw Calendar man he was holding a gun from fallout 4

Oh my goodness, I really never cared much for the purple man but wtaf, now I feel bad for Jessica Jones
Incorrect, Purple Man is not from Soviet Union, Russia or similar. He is from my homecountry SFR Yugoslavia, don't steal the few Yugoslavian characters that we have left (the other most famous one is Abomination)
Eclipso went from a minor villain to one of the most powerful forces in the DC universe, it's evidence how improving unknown characters is better than creating new ones.
Superman killed The Joker, The Riddler, The Penguin,Lex Luthor, Batman 99 and …………. Lob o. Nowhere has he killed Mr.Freeze he’s killed everyone else but not The Man Who FROZE YOUR WIFE AND MELTED HER IN BOILING WATER? Superman you are strange, very , very strange (and no we do not count robot Mr. Freeze he’s not The Mr. Freeze he’s an artificial copy of The Mr.Freeze not if he was The Mr. Freeze he would have a head that’s not floating in a dome. Ok you technical smarty GEEKS!)
@illuminatipoodle4517

And he also killed Impulse no offense to what culture comics u all of u are idiots
wtf kinda number 1 was that
Less Joker would be better. Also, what Ragdoll did to his kids was just psycho.
The post Crisis Luthor was just a copy of the Kingpin. He was better as the evil scientist. Not an improvement
Paste Pot Pete becoming The Trapster should be #1.
Most of these aren't retcons, they're just lame characters who got their act together.
Hey! I hate wen people say first!
Analytics.
First!!

Superboy prime was the worst
you forgot Tom King's retcon of kite man, Hell Yeah... www.polygon.com/2017/10/19/16455276/batman-kite-man-dc-comics-tom-king-bill-finger also, Mr Freeze in Batman TAS from one note joke villain to tragic sympathetic backstory via Dini and Timm was EPIC.
