Perhaps he was trying to deter anyone from knowing his fate. If Dany found out that Bran's fate was to be king, she wouldn't have come to winterfell's aid. Cersei probably would have tried to assassinate him. The northerners may have been divided between who ought to rule the north (Jon or the last legitimate son of Ned Stark). Keeping the whole thing a secret was absolutely the right move.

@@marksang-pur9984 It wasn't though. That build up to becoming the Three Eyed Raven would've been done correctly. Season five, even if it seems boring, would've been Bran learning, not just the historical points that move the story forward, but everything from the COTF and what it truly means to the Three Eyed Raven. Season six should've been the flashbacks and actually becoming the new TER. We could understand why he became emotionless once he touched the tree and it wouldn't come off as Bran just being an semi annoying character all of a sudden. Bran, easily, should've replaced that horrid Dorne plot.

If they knew all along Bran was gonna end up as king they should’ve made him a better, more useful character. His storyline was boring and they had no idea how to write it so they left him out of the show for a whole season. Last 2 seasons were just awfully rushed storytelling with bad dialogue instead of good character development and build up for the ending.

@@Velvet.323 Because a lot of those hints were things the character themselves said (or even noticeably didn't say). Take Dany for example. She makes various vainglorious statements but is unable to properly clarify how she wished to both be an absolute monarch and to 'break the wheel'. If a person says that I will 'burn cities to the ground', lashes out whenever things don't go her way, and only stops herself because people she likes urge her not to do something stupid, I'd say there is a solid chance they will burn a city to the ground if enough things go wrong and not enough friends are left to stop it.

For me it actually makes sense. I was pissed off at first on the injustice to Jon, he was king of the kings. But this is not about being a king it is about the future of humanity. Bran knew all along the sequence of the events thats gonna pan over including the ending of the Night King and, Danerys slaughter of kings landing but he allowed it to happen cos he knew by process of elimination he would be king of the all by destiny. He became king not to use the powers like the others but to give the power back to people like we saw in the last episode it is Tyrion and the Council who actually ran the kingdoms, he was just a ceremonial king, plus the agreement any King from now on would be voted, this was the start of democracy and the end of the house anarchy and dictatorship.

Yea...no. Robert: "Where are the commoners Ned?" Ned: "We don't see kings in the North very often." Robert: "Likely they're buried under the snow! Snow, Ned!" - A Game of Thrones "King," croaked the raven. The bird flapped across the air to land on Mormont's shoulder. "King," it said again, strutting back and forth. "He likes that word," Jon said, smiling. "An easy word to say. An easy word to like." "King," the bird said again. "I think he means for you to have a crown, my lord." "The realm has three kings already, and that's two too many for my liking." Mormont stroked the raven under the beak with his finger, but all the while his eyes never left Jon Snow. - A Clash of Kings So, yea, there is more foreshadowing of Jon being King than Bran....and those are only 2 moments...

The only possible way it makes any remote sense to make Bran the King of the Six Kingdoms, considering all the other events that occurred in the last season, is if the GoT universe is planning on some kind of sequel in which Bran becomes a villainous king. I mean, how can a Three-Eyed Raven ever be a good king? Philosophically, Bran would never have the true interest of the people in mind; he will always fulfill what his visions show, regardless if it is good or bad for the people. He can apparently look into the future, but as far as we know, he cannot alter it, or has been unwilling to do anything to change it (or else he would have done more in the Battle of Winterfell). If we look more closely into the events that occurred in the season finale, it only becomes that more necessary to make Bran a new villain to come. He is the one who initiated the downfall of Danaerys, using Jon Snow’s true identity to create doubt and uncertainty within herself to be considered the rightful heir to the throne. He has no problem sending Jon Snow to the Night’s Watch, even though there’s literally nothing to guard anymore (no white walkers, and the relationship with the Wildlings for the most part have reached a point of mutual respect); having Jon out of the way from possibly threatening his rule is in Bran’s best interest. I mean, everyone just completely forgot Jon’s true identity and claim to the throne. How convenient, right? And then Bran doesn’t hesistate to give Sansa Winterfell and allow it to become a separate kingdom. While it sounds like a gracious thing to do, in this narrative Bran allows that to happen so that Sansa and Winterfell would never be able to pose a threat to Bran’s rule over the other kingdoms. If she ever does, Bran has all the other kingdoms to fight for him. Literally Bran becoming King makes zero sense, and there was no foreshadowing of events. The only way for this to make any sense in the grand scheme of things is if there are plans to continue to GoT story and make Bran a villain.

  • @tungjen9299
    @tungjen92995 жыл бұрын

Isn't there a huge difference between "seeing" Littlefingers schemes (which actually happened) and "seeing" Daenerys destruction of Kingslanding, which was - at that point - nothing more than a vision? Didn't Brans role (telling Jon about his heritage in a quite untimely moment only houers before the army of the dead arriving) actually lead to Daenerys loosing trust and finally becoming mad? Bran learned in a powerful way, that interfering with the time can fix someones destiny quite tragically (Hodor) so he must have been aware, that "warning" Tyrion or someone else about Daenerys burning of Kingslanding could actually cause it to really happen. Kind of a self-fulfilling prophecy... That wouldn't make Bran a kind nor wise ruler, but he'd be guilty of manipulating fates and lives of others, maybe even to the rightful heirs of the Iron Throne by missusing his powers. So GoT's ending leaves us - among other things - with the unpleasant feeling of the possibility that nothing is as it seems and the foul taste that we may all have been deceived. Or not. Or yes. That's not bitter sweet. That's more in the direction of disturbing. It's the problem of bad storytelling.

And any person that assumes he is the living embodiment of all history is insane, what's the point of the Citadel and the Masters. And everyone accepting Brans word as fact is also insane. Plus, the series starts with a mad king having already killed a Brandon stark, Jamie Lannister kills the mad king, Jamie Lannister tries to kill a new Brandon Stark, Jamie Lannister dies, Brandon Stark becomes the new mad king. Its the mind of mental illness come full circle. Brandon stark, the mad king, jamie Lannister are all the same person, and they are all insane. Both the show and the books repeatedly mention madness with all three characters. I wouldn't be surprised if everything, everywhere is actually happening in Brans mind. But that doesn't leave a lot of room for prequels and spin offs, so we may never know.

Why do 8 full seasons of Dany conquering and getting to the point where she sits on the throne if she doesn’t even get the chance to sit on it before Jon kills her? There’s a lot of examples of David and Dan setting up many reasons why certain characters could become the ruler. I’m not saying they didn’t do any for Bran, but they did way more for almost ALL of the other major characters. And the thing that pissed me off the most was “Who has a better story than Bran?” Look, Tyrion, u used to be smart but sorry literally EVERYONE has a better story than bran: Jon, Sansa, Arya, Dany, Gendry, the list is endless.

I know this comment is 2 years old but whatever. It's confirmed that George R R Martin told the writers 3 important moments: Hodor's origin Shireen getting burned to death Bran becoming King So the Writers didn't even bother explaining these plot points, they just made the characters do certain things so that the story followed these plot points. Bran will absolutely 100 % percent be King in the books, but it will be different, because in the books there is no "Three Eyed Raven" and so Bran will remain Bran. @@1594matt Thanks! I suppose that Bran won't be King in a formal sense, but rather some sort of prophet for the Old Gods, kind of like Melissandre, and his powers will be used to end the Long Night, thus gaining everyone's respect. The story has a legendary figure known as the "Grenseer King", who has the power to get visions and information regarding the past, present and future, being a Greenseer is the closest thing in the books to a Three Eyed Raven. Bran will probably be a figure head, and the one ruling politically will be Tyrion as hand of the King. It's also foreshadowed that Bran will bring back the summer using his magic, thus the title of the last book "A Dream of Spring". The final scene has also been theorized to be a reversal of the first scene, with Eddard Stark beheading a Night's Watch deserter and telling Bran: "the man who passes the sentence should swing the sword. You must look at a man in the eyes and, if you cannot dare to do it, maybe that man does not deserve to die" So Bran will have to look at Jon in the eyes, remember his whole life, and conclude that he can't bring himself to kill his own half-brother, and so he proclaims that he will be merciful, and sends Jon beyond the seven kingdoms, were the Wall used to be. In that way, George will close the story in a full circle, alluding to very first scene which he said, predicted that last scene of the Books.

I wish this season had the full 8 episodes of dany ruling on the second half and people realizing she isn’t the queen they thought she would be. Then we could’ve had 5 episodes of season 9 were we see the endings of each character and season 8 ends with Dany’s death

The second vision of the house of undying showed Dany a feast full of dead people and a man with wolf's head sitting on a throne. It can be very much the foreshadowing of the red wedding but after season 8, it gave me a different view. I wonder if it's indeed a foreshadowing of Bran being the future king. The feast could very well be just Westeros where a lot of people died due to many reasons and Bran became king after that. Many people did die.

And Meera's just sitting in Greywater Watch thinking "I schlepped his ass all of the way north, then back south again. I saved his life, sat in a boring ass cave for 2 years, my brother died trying to help him, and he can't even properly say goodbye or give me a seat on the small council? You suck, Bran!"

In watching the series again, it’s clear that Bran was hiding in plain sight all along. I saw the foreshadowing as well, and not just in the examples of the video. Great stuff. Student of history should appreciate the archetype of a philosopher-king.

To good enough. Most of the writers of the show surely didn’t know from season 1 that Bran would sit on the iron throne. The kid literally disappears for an entire season, comes back and we have to be like “oh yeah, that guy definitely deserves to Ben king now.” I’d rather have Edmure Tully sit on the throne, just to show properly how big of joke the throne has been made out to be.

Bran learning sigil scene, Bran talking to old Nan, all the things that happened to Bran from both his parents leaving abruptly and eventually never returning, losing his legs, his dreams to be a soldier, and his brother Rob. In the beginning Bran lost everything that was important to him besides Jon, Arya, Sansa, and Tyrion(he loved Tyrion and connected with him) because of a fight over some Iron Throne and in the end... everyone who was playing the game of thrones died, other than Bran, and he was left with Jon, Arya, Sansa, and Tyrion...revenge at best, evil at worst, but, absolutely foreshadowed. Most of this was all season one.He would experienced internally the Star Wars path to the dark side with continuing clues in subsequent seasons, but all you need is season, or even better book 1. To me the most important questions of the series; 1-did bran develop his powers sooner than he let on? 2-is Brans body his own, or is it under control by another entity such as (Brynden Rivers previous 3ER) 3-Is brans warging ability increased in humans that are comprised in some way whether it’s emotionally or physically...CRIPPLES, BASTURDS, and BROKEN THINGS.? 4-Is Tyrion a Targaryen? 5-Does Tyrion have an warging powers? Subconscious or actualized... 6-Did Bran have anything to do with Tyrion delivering the saddle...and I mean in a warming or planting the idea into Tyrion’s head...

Good argument. I like that everyone got some version of what they wanted in Season 1. Tyrion got his Dad's job, Sansa got to be a Queen, Arya got a life of adventure, Bran got to be important, Brianne got to be a knight, Bron got a future off the battlefield, Varys got a government that was thinking seriously about justice and improving the life of the common people, the Unsullied got a home, Jon got the life he wanted in the Knightswatch, and Danearys got to ascend the Iron Throne and break the Wheel. Not bad.

Ever since Season 1, I believed Bran would be a good leader. He made sensible decisions when he was Lord of Winterfell; so even before becoming the three-eyed raven, he already has potential for leadership. It's just saddening that his pivotal role as a character was always overshadowed and his distinctive and strong character was not always shown. He is wiser beyond his years. He was a critical thinker even when he was just 10. It was mentioned in Season 1 by Maester Luwin when he said to Bran, "Sometimes, I worry you are too smart for your own good." So you can say all you want but I think Bran would make a good king for me. Ned and Catelyn would've been proud too.

The whole knight king and three eyed raven part of the lore shouldve been way more on the fore ground. In the last episode they made it seem like the entire show revolves around it... which it does. But why spend so little time on elaborating it then.

When varys says, A good ruler would be one who does not want the throne. In this case Jon is the only person (the others i.e., Arya and Tyrion to some extent are not interested in ruling ) who never wanted the throne, so he was the only suitable candidate for the throne. As far as bran, he is not bran he is 3ER. So 3ER is the real ruler who always wanted the throne and got it.

The thing that really bothers me is that Bran knew he was going to be king just as he knew Arya will kill the NK. So that means he let all that destruction happen. That shows malicious intent on his part even if he is the most competent King we can imagine.

It doesn't show malicious intent at all. If anything, it shows wisdom on his part to let things conclude as it should. People going after a little kid who didn't chose to become a 3 eyed raven is quite a sad thing in the least.
