I've owned a 1977 Lowrider, a 1989 Electrglide, and presently own a 1997 Heritage, and except for the electric system gremlins, the Lowrider had the most class!

I've got a stock '72 ElectraGlide cop bike I bought back in 1980, and a '97 WideGlide I bought 6yrs ago, and I wouldn't trade them for new ones.

I am a collector and would also add the 10th anniversary 1987 FXLR, The 2009 CVO Springer FXSTSSE3 and the 2008 CVO Anniversary FXDSE .ALL rare low production machines.

Have ridden both the EL (Knuckle) and the XLCH... also spent a summer on an early E-Glide (not mine), but I'd guess the EL and the CH are my choices.... liked the Shoves aw well, but mostly the generator models... there's been and Evo and others, but now a Twinkie Softail (don't think it'll ever be a classic, but rides nice...)

I only saw a few that maybe would be in high demand, and I don't think the wide guilde is one of them, because more people prefer the Low Rider.

PLUS: '65 Panhead, 1st year electric start big twin + kicker. Last year Panhead. 66/67/68 Slabside Shovel. '84 Evo Softail with kickstart, 4 speed tranny/final chain drive. '85 FXRT. Oil bath enclosed rear drive. Mainly sold in Europe. Pre-Road King, Road King. The V-Rod. Overlooked potential rocketships. Chest Thumpers and Knuckle Draggers bemoaned them, as they required thought to understand. A break from tradition that was needed, but not welcomed. Good basic material that will eat just about anything with basic tuning improvements.

No mention of the venerable Road King, or, specific mention of any of Harley Davidson's models for the milestone Anniversary Editions, especially, the 100 year anniversary is remiss. Regardless of production numbers. The 2003 Road King Classic, 100- Year Anniversary Edition, is one of the most elegant, stylish and archetypical Harley-Davidson motorcycles ever produced and forever etched in HD's rich history of motorcycle designs, as is with all Road Kings. The personification of a Harley Davidson icon is Road King which stands supreme and has no equal. Those select riders who own one are indeed privileged on so many levels.

As the Indian factory opened before the British factory closed, Royal Enfield’s have actually been in continuous production longer than Harleys. P.S. As a Dyna Streetbob owner I’m not knocking Harleys.

You better go back and double check your history. The Fatboy came on the scene in 1990, at a time when HD was losing market share , But the Fatboy lifted HD by the boot straps and got the competitions full attention along with the rest of the motorcycling world.

Investments require markets i.e. buyers and sellers. Very few young people care about these bikes (or 60s muscle cars), so there are very few buyers. Boomers are fading, so big supply. Big supply, low demand = bad investment.

I don’t think you could be more wrong on almost all counts. The only thing I agree with is any Harley is better than the plastic made in china Harley’s in the showrooms now. The only people who collect the old Harley s you talk about are old men. They are stopping riding and selling so the price will go down not up. The bikes people want are DYNA s. Harley best selling model they discontinued. Has you say if people want them but can’t buy new. The second hand market goes up. Dyna has alway had a following and appeals to the younger generations who can actually ride bikes properly

Only the 50 plus year Harley's are worth anything.. everything else is just fad bikes that are garage queens and not worth half of what they were paid for.. Since the shovelhead left, their bikes, tolerances, sound, and design have been garbage.. the new China Harley's or Charlie's sound like old school busses at best.. so, what valuable Harley's are you thinking of?
