One of the big issues came up when Trump pushed to send ICE out of the Deep southern states ...All those "conservatives, who were whining about illegals...started begging for them to come back, crops were rotting in the fields, construction was delayed, recovery from bad weather started to grind to a halt. - cause no one was harvesting the crops or working for 'slave wages' in non-union shops, the contractors, home builders, fast food joints - wanted to hire cheap workers... but they moved on to other states. Even illegals need a working wage. When the cops don't make money of illegals -- they start acting like cannibals, "feeding on, cannibalizing, their own friends, neighbors and family". Talk about "unintended consequences"... sometimes - when you get what you asked for... you find out that's not what you really wanted or needed!

They take pics and immediately send you to a ref, or call in CHP which from what I've heard underwent courses. They pushed and updated laws hard in jan 2019 and have authority to pop your hood under some updated vehicle code

@@Roadsurfer2k11 A cop is not going to know what crank or cam, or head gasket you have and neither is the Reff. they are not going to take apart your engine . again I've never seen any spark plug wires or coils that did not meet California spec, and that would require more knowledge to even think to look for that . Unless you have aftermarket headers and cai intake with no CARB stickers you are fine.

Getting hard to visit. Especially when you have a diesel camper. They don't like diesels and nobody gives you any room to merge. After last visit, probably never going back to that shithole state. We did meet a few nice people and there are some beautiful parks. State is made up predominantly self-righteous assholes with a 5th grade education. No deep thought, just reactions to stimuli only.

That means the part must have a CARB number. I'm from California and I've never heard this executive order thing . But you know that if you buy after market parts for engine/exhaust it should have a CARB number. You know if it's legal if it states the CARB number or says 50 state legal when you order it .

But there's also people who would rather build a car than buy one. People who like to do stupid things with their cars will do it whether the car is fast or not. If all cars are Forced to not be upgraded people are going to to the same things as now but the standards will change OR they will just register the car in a different state.

Florida did away with inspections and Pollution Control emissions inspections ages ago. I love it. My catless BMW M3 with headers screams. There's also no noise enforcement where I live in southeast Florida. I've never heard of anyone getting a ticket for noise. There are some cars that sound like they belong on a drag strip driving around in the Street.

Land of the free home of the brave. Sounds like a wonderful place! Anybody know where that place is? Would love to go there.

Justin Dubon I live in Cali my whole life and I blame decades of sanctuary policies for the reasons our schools are over crowded, our emergency rooms are full, our state prisons are so full they let out convicted felons and send them back to the counties to deal with. Guess who the majority is in our prisons. Guess why are taxes are so high to pay for schools, prisons, etc. Cali is over-populated and it will just get worse as they invited all of Central America to move into the state no questions asked with their sanctuary policies. This state has so many problems that the working tax payers are moving out daily. I won't even get into the politicians and how they cater to illegals while turning law abiding citizens into felons because you exercise your 2nd amendment right and own a modern, 10 round, semi auto sporting rifle. They even decriminalized purposely giving someone HIV/AIDS to satisfy the gay community. You can't make this stuff up. La La land. I'm headed to Idaho after paying taxes for 35 years and watching Cali fall apart. So much crime, gangs, homeless people living on the streets everywhere. The majority of the street people are in their 20s who came from other states to work in the pot trade but realized it's not as easy as they thought to get rich quick. Everyone here is stoned......

All these people making stupid laws in Cali are now leaving because of said laws and are going to try to pass the same stupid laws they passed in Cali in whatever State they move to

Actually transmissions have ALOT to do with emissions.if your tranny is not shifting at the factory rpm set points you will get a check eng light,the check eng light is only there for emission related issues nothing else

The 14 foot height restriction makes perfect sense. That is the standard for bridge clearance on highways. Most things on this list aren't truly banned since there are CARB legal aftermarket parts in each category you listed. But when in Rome get out of CA.

devnull128 In my home-state of Oregon (where californians escape to...), we have the EPA where our cars get inspected & a smog probe gets stuffed up the tail-pipe. This is only done in the Portland-Metro area & a similar version in the Medford area, both areas are prone to bad-air...Even swapping non-factory engines is illegal no matter how new or clean the tail-pipe emissions may be. Really stupid...

Basically the parts manufacturers have to prove their parts won't significantly increase the tailpipe emissions of the cars they're put on. If the parts can be proven clean enough, it gets an E.O. number and can be put on any car in California and other states that follow California's emissions standards for clean air. While restricting cleaner engine swaps and upgrading old emissions parts for equipement that would allow for cleaner emissions and/or better gas mileage is a bit backwards, having breathable air should be a priority over all. Come to think of it, there was some testing done a couple years back where the emissions of unrestricted lawn equipment was compared to new vehicles, including a Ford Raptor with I think the 6.2l V-8. If I remember right, the exhaust from the Raptor was not only considerably cleaner than that of the lawn equipment, with the exception of carbon monoxide, the air coming out of the tailpipe was cleaner than the air going in the airbox!

So i can't can ls head swap my 5.3 or add a edelbrock intake or ls swap anything

My 2000 Chevy S10 2.2 L 4-cyl has a K&N cold air intake a MagnaFlow Cat-Back exhaust and an Eastern catalytic replacement catalytic converter. So I'm not allowed to drive it to LA from Central Florida to visit with my sister-in-law?

Born and raised in Cali and I will love my state until the day I die but we do have some sucky ass laws.

so when they register/renew a car registration will they open up every single part of your car for legality factors?

"cams must be the same dimensions as from factory" And how do they intend on checking that when they pull you over?

What about say, mid '60s or older cars? Here in AZ you can do anything you want with those, because they were never designed to meet any kind of emissions regulations. For that reason, because I am a hot rodder, I have been driving old cars for more than 25 years. I can do any mods I want, even install a full blown drag race engine.

Late reply to your question but any car previous to 1975 if free from these rules. You can do whatever you want to a classic car.

This has been going on for a long time. I rebuilt a '69 suburban. I moved from FL to CA. I went to get it emission tested. The exhaust emissions were the same as 1982 standards ( out the tail pipes). This was in 1985. So what was the deal here. 1963 block, same crank, 1969 low compression 350 pistons for 9.5/1 ratio. Still had to use premium, well 93 octane was the standard for a low compression engine in 69. Very low over lap cam for better low end torque. 1969 1.98 heads, 450 CFM 4 barrel carburetor because engine was not going to turn well at above 4500 rpms anyway. Muncie wide ratio 4 speed, replacing the 3 speed automatic. moved from FL to CA Failed the emission test when the hood was opened.. Now the modifications required by CA to be legal ensured that the engine in the Suburban would have caused engine failure within 30-50K miles. BTW the original engine lasted 245,000, and was never driven in CA. it was never babied either. I asked my uncle how he kept his cars running he said. "Simple put the crap on, have the test done, drive home and take it off. I think a lot of this crapola is designed to keep the CA new car dealers happy and in business. This diesel DEF thing came out CA too. It is the reason CAT does not make truck engines anymore. Because with DEF, engine life does not meet CAT standards

I believe it's not a problem if you're passing through, if you were moving there, I would consider buying a local car (especially coming from the rusty Midwest). Usually when it comes to the Executive Order he keeps harping on, the manufacturer has to spend money to make sure that the parts won't negatively effect the emissions over stock before they can be legally sold in the state. This is mainly done for air quiality since in any urban center with a large population, pollution is a problem. The LA Basin makes it worst, since that traps any pollutants and has for centuries and this got worst when machinery was created and brought in to the area.

I live in California and I can do whatever I want with my 1948 Ford pickup. It's exempt from all these rules because of its age. It's running a 1952 Chrysler Hemi with headers, a Camaro Z28 front end and a 700 R4 Transmission. No catalytic converter or smog equipment at all. Runs pretty good.

Speed limits are pretty retarded in Georgia. 55 on many highways, some 30 zones that used to be 45. Backwards yield signs that defy basic right of way, etc. Plus the shitty drivers.

Yes, I am from California. The Tented Window section is spot on, I have that modification. I also have an after-market catalytic converter and I have the executive order in the car, because I must show it to DMV every 2 years when I get my car 'smogged tested.'

They recently updated their carb eo. What was legal then is likely not now. I checked Injen which used to be carb eo friendly... no more. My 2018 hyundai cannot buy or put the cai on.

I understand the need to meet emissions standards, but I really don't know why certain performance mods are mentioned specifically. Why don't they just check the end result?

Wow grew up there 70s and 80s street racing was really good then I'm glad I live in Fort Lauderdale Florida now...😎 Really sad though like someone else pointed out that was the original birthplace of hot rodding and now look what they've done to they (California) stuck a knife in the heart of hot rodding and trying to make it bleed out that's sad...😲

Is there a special unit that can tell if the car has modified parts? So can I put a bigger engine in my suburban with all the smog parts on the new engine and not get busted? I want better gas mileage and some gritty up in my ride!

Bottom line, don't go live in California if you want to mod your car

@@dumdum7786 They have a very strict emissions test that vehicles have to go through. My brother was stationed in San Diego back 10 years ago. Said his first year there, they pulled his car for emissions.

Yeah California is harsh on cars mods here. I remember putting a CAI on my 08 Mustang and the smog place wouldn't even look at the car with it on. Then I went and added a new exhaust system and supercharger that could be tuned for CA use. Once smog came up again my options at that point were go to a certain person who would pass the car not legally for a price, sell the car, or put it to a point where it would pass. I ended up selling because it was such a hassle. Now I have a Charger R/T I'l probably leave mostly stock but if I can do things that can be easily swapped back I will. Funny enough the show RoadKill is mostly in CA and I'm pretty sure they don't follow every rule when it comes to modding in CA.

California is like a woman. Everything is illegal unless it benefits it. Just like how taxes were raised to "build better roads". Well those "better roads" are called express lanes that you gotta pay for to use.. wait what? You are using my money to build roads, and I have to pay to use it?

If my Nevada car has modifications that California deems as illegal, does that mean that I cannot even drive it to California, even though it is legal in Nevada? Or am I allow to drive it in and out of the state since I am only visiting? I certainly would not want a ticket or an impounded car.

Do we think an electronic ignition system is a push button start?
