My biggest bookish resolution is to read slower, especially with bigger books. Brandon Sanderson is on my read slower big book list too. Last year I read Guardians of the Dawn: Zhara by S. Jae-Jones. It was a YA fantasy and I loved it. It is comped as Sailor Moon meets Cinder. The main character had the servant to the stepmother thing like Cinderella, but she also has forbidden fire powers and then falls in love with a secretive guy. I really loved it. Book 2 comes out in August of this year. Good luck with your goals! 🪩💃🏾

My resolution for books is to try and read 52 books and make a reading journal bc I get most of my books from the library so I can write down favorite quotes and themes I got from the book

I have a lot of the same "resolutions".. Just want to get back to being me. Fall in love with the things I love again and really immerse myself. Also find more people with similar interests and build more community. I've been socializing a lot with family the last couple years and I feel like we mainly eat, and between that and depression, I too have gained a lot of weight. Thick thighs save lives, but my thunders are out of hand, plus my energy levels are trash. Ugh, 2024 just needs to be the year of romancing myself again

Have you checked out For Keeps in Atlanta? It’s a women black owned bookstore. It’s mainly used, literary fiction books but the vibes are nice. lol. The parking though is rough.

Reading more fantasy and letting myself have the time for longer and more mind challenging fantasy, scifi and classic books is a goal i share as well. I do have a patreon but it is quite small at the moment, so still building the community element to it. and that is something i am working on this year. i went to more bookish events this year and that has been good fun. No one told me the elsie silver books had cowboy vibes to them and i am curious now 👀 i loved love hypothesis and need to get to love theoretically. ooh i got honey and spice for my birthday recently! need to read it.

Eventbrite is a good option for book event. Follow your local library and bookstores so you can get notifications when they bring authors to town… my goals are to read down my arc list and get to under 50% unread on my physical shelves and continue to grow my KZread channel. Enjoy your year of fantasy!

happy new year capri! one of my bookish resolutions is to read more books that i already own vs buying all these new books. and a goal that i have in general is to get out in nature more, visit more parks, go on more walks and just explore my area more.

I haven’t read every Brandon Sanderson book but if you don’t like that one, maybe try mistborn the final empire or Warbreaker because those are usually the ones recommended to start with.

yes I really miss it I just wanna take my time reading and being in that genre. Alot of people say start with mistborn first maybe I should lol

prioritizing a happy reading year by focusing on fantasy is self care, i love that for you. i want to read more fantasy (especially with black characters), but i haven’t had good luck. last week i read a fantasy book by angela j. ford and quite literally hated it, but i liked her writing enough so i might try another of her books. i want to be more comfortable DNFing books this year because i also want to just have a happy reading year & rmbr that reading is a hobby not a chore.

My goal this year is to read all of N.K. Jemisin’s books. Also I am going to try to read at least a chapter a day of manga.

🪩💃🏾love this!! I feel you on a couple of these. This new year and just coming into my 30s in general I’ve been trying to learn more about who I am and what I like. So I bought my first figurine of a dragon the other day and I’m pretty sure it won’t be my last. (No connection to fourth wing btw. I’ve loved dragons since I was a preteen) I’ve been gaining weight as well but I know I’m not going to the gym like I should, so I’m trying to learn my style, how to style my body, and learn to love my body. *plays Pretty Girl Era* I did notice that you weren’t doing as many cosplays. I think I started following you shortly after you stopped. I’m excited that you want to get back into it! I’ve never cosplayed but I think it’s cool. A fantasy author I’d recommend is John Gwynne. He has become a favorite of mine. His writing, story telling, and the fighting/battle scenes?!!! Phenomenal. Also sorry for writing a book under your video. But here’s to an amazing 2024! 🥂

@@caprisbookisland i used to like the gym but the desire comes and goes haha also time management is not a good quality of mine so I understand trying to find balance. And yes! I hope you enjoy his book. I love the worlds and the character he creates.

I'm not going to only read fantasy, but I will also be focusing on it this year since it was the genre that first got me into reading. I really want to read books I enjoy and give myself the option to DNF anything that just isn't for me. My goal is set to 24 books, so I'm not stressing myself. l think the disco ball emoji was removed or I can't find.💃🏾

Yes to the live shows but forgive me if I'm late to the party and comment after the live stream has already passed.
