    Easily one of my favorite moments from an Elseworld’s story because of how easily you could see the character go down this path. “Who elected you anyway?” “Who elected _you_ ? The problem with democracy is that it doesn’t keep you very safe.” “It has other benefits, but you seem to have forgotten that.” “I didn’t forget. I chose peace and security.” “You _grabbed_ power!” “And with that power, we made a world where *no eight year old boy will ever lose his parents* ... _because of some punk with a gun_ .” “... You win.” (The fact that I typed that from memory speaks volumes about how much I love that episode)

    How the scene played out was absolutely brilliant. For the most part, we didn't see either speak, it cut between them hearing the Other's words. Because of this, it could easily be interpreted as an internal struggle. Truly one of Kevin Conroy's greatest Batman performances.

    Same. Or really any of the Dark Nights Metal evil Bruces. Hell considering their reason for putting Hal Jordan I think everything they expressed is better represented in the Dawnbreaker. Bruce's will to get revenge on his parent's killer, it was so strong he overloaded the Ring's no killing limiter. He corrupted the Ring then became a murderous avenger and took out the Greenlantern Corps sent to stop him from his killings.

Between the two was a nice bit where he was able to beat Flash, Martian Manhunter, Green Arrow, Aquaman, Kyle Rayner, Hawkman, and Mullet-Toting Superman AT THE SAME TIME why doesn't this get talked about more

    Actually, Injustice Supes WAS based on a comic book. Most of the story line for the video game was lifted from a previous comic book story line called Armageddon 2001, where in a newly introduced superhero name "Waverider" tries to find the identity of a super villain who kills all other heroes in the future, and so travels timelines looking for alternate futures to see which hero could become so bad as to snap. It's not just one story line that pulls this together either, it comes from a few different ones, but for some familiar points start here, where a nuke kills Lois and Metropolis. dc.fandom.com/wiki/Superman_Annual_Vol_2_3

    Shazam/Captain Marvel was never a villain, in Kingdome Come : he was brainwashed or mind controlled by Lex Luthor. Also, the crux of that story is that there are far too many metahumans and the world will end, if they continue fighting each other, since they are too powerful. Even though it has a sort of 'happy end', it was made clear that a culling of metahumans seemed to be the only option to almost every faction (Luthor and the US military wanted to kill metahumans, while Batman wanted to fight them without killing them - even though he is the one who stated that not enough metahumans died and they just returned to square one). However, if you are looking for a bad guy, Superman created and ruled over a gulag - not just for supervillains, but for all those who opposed him.

In Issue 50 of Green Lantern, he shows up to battle Hal Jordan of the New 52 and is confused to see Coast City restored without the use of the Green Lantern ring. It's a good read and something to definitely check out.

    I would have to go with the time Hal Jordan first became Parallax

  • @ndndave9241
    @ndndave92413 жыл бұрын

    The retconning of Hal Jordan turning evil was kinda unnecessary. Kinda like how they did Professor X when Onslaught emerged. They coulda, they should have just maintained the story line of a good man finally breaking after losing too much then being betrayed by his people after being broken down. But they go and ruin it with his being "influenced" by the Parallax fear entity.

    You got the Jean Grey part wrong. The Phoenix made a copy of Jean Grey's image while the real Jean Grey was in a capsule and later rehabilitated back into the team.

    It's fascinating that the top three belong to DC. I know Watchmen wasn't a part of DC originally but it is now. So I'm counting it.

    I stopped reading comic books 15 years ago for many reasons. But, one of my main reasons was that they brought Hal Jordan back as Green Lantern. Emerald Twilight was one of my favorite comic book stories. I loved the tragedy of it. I also got disgusted in them bringing back Jason Todd although I admit the Red Hood story was good. I like my comic books to have some grounding in reality and dead is dead. I couldn't buy into the mythos anymore. Comic book writers and fans can't seem to deal with death or the passage of time.
