Jekyll Island is amazing!!! Just spent a wonderful vacation there. Driftwood beach is breathtaking, and there is so much good food to eat.

On the southeast end of the island on the beach is the mast of a shrimp boat that is covered in sand that is sticking out of the sand. Great story behind what happened.

Great video. We camp on the island at the campground on the north end of the island for a couple of weeks each summer. We love it and it is my place to recover and rest from the day-to-day grind. The island has a distinctly non-touristy vibe, which is fine by me, but that turns some people off. I would add that the bike paths on the island are fantastic and you can ride to basically anywhere from anywhere. Some people complain about the water on the beaches because the water can be a bit muddy at times. If that's the case, you can make a little jaunt north to St. Simon's (the next island up the coast) beaches which in my opinion are a little more in line with peoples' expectations of a tourist beach. Less than a 30 minute drive.

It's unbelievable how commercial it has become in the last 30 years. I don't believe I would want to visit now. We used to spend alot of time there. I geuss everything changes.

We used to go to Clearwater Beach in Florida, always stayed at mom&pop motels for great rates and more personal hospitality by owners. Since about 5 years ago or so,Big hotels took over and many places we stayed at are gone along with restaraunts we ate at. It's no longer affordable for us,what a loss for our vacations.

That it does! Everything is all about the money these days! So many of our beaches everywhere have been ruined by construction of condos and hotels. Most places you have to pay an arm and leg for parking if you’re lucky to find a place. Then you have a long hike to get to the beach. Making it almost impossible to take an elderly person or a baby with you. Just taking your belongings is tuff enough.
