I can certify with my own experience that rice is a very complete source of nutrition. You can just hold on to rice many days with no problems. I was a political prisoner of the the Venezuelan dictatorship for more than 4 years. During that time I ate white rice with 0% salt for 20 consecutive days at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Rice does work. Thank you for the video.

As someone who has had to live off pretty scant funds for extended periods of time, I can attest that if you have enough dried beans, well-stored grains, canned veggies, and dried spices (including bullions), you can live off that for a VERY long time. Food bank pinto bean chili (which is pretty much a few cups of soaked and cooked dried pinto beans, a can of tomatoes or mild salsa, a diced sauteed onion and bell pepper, a ton of TVP, and some Dollar Tree spices) coupled with that box of corn bread made into muffins was pretty much my lunch and dinner every day of my junior year of university. Either a bowl of oatmeal with some dried fruit and roasted nuts or peanut butter on toast for breakfast, and I was eating for about $1-$2/day. Dried beans and rice also store really nicely in glass jars in your pantry (so does flour, so does cornmeal, so do oats, so do nuts & seeds, so do dried fruits, etc.). I got in the habit of using my $20/week grocery budget to get my groceries, my toiletries, food & litter for my cat, and I'd always buy one extra thing not on my list with whatever I had leftover (whether it was a can of tomatoes, or corn, or a bag of beans or box of bullion cubes, or package of pasta). Just one extra thing a week means at the end of the year, you have 52 food items in storage. Getting a side hustle like driving for Lyft or delivering for DoorDash (if you have a car), donating blood plasma for cash if you're able, even answering surveys online for gift cards adds up if you're not counting on that money.

Many dried beans can be sprouted indoors in 5-10 days. 2 tablespoons of beans can be grown into 1 to 1.5 lbs of fresh sprouts depending on how long you grow it. And you don't need to order expensive sprouting seeds; the cheap dried beans at the supermarket and an empty plastic bottle will do. Sprouted mung beans, adzuki, lentils, peas and sunflowers are especially easy to grow and quite delicious. Watch a few sprouting videos on YT to get the hang of it.

I realize I had mostly stuff to stay alive and nothing to enjoy while I’m alive so I had to make a new list. That new list end up taking two pages. I need delicious can foods and other food, that means buying expensive stuff, but now that I have survival foods, I can work on storing delicious food a little at a time. Many people only have enough money for purchasing a few extra stuff. So my advice is get the needs first and then get the wants.

Canned tomato is acidic and will not last much past their date as they will eat the can making them taste metallic and breach the can, so go for jarred sauces for your pasta sauce. That plastic you see in some cans have a synthetic female hormone in them and will soy boy you as well as cause cancer. Lentil curries can spice things up on the cheep. You use bullion with them to stretch a can of meat. If you have a bland pallet then you probably will not like the high rated recipes. Bland version. You don't see much Burmese recipes because they are very conservative recipes. www.myrecipes.com/recipe/burmese-chicken-curry-with-yellow-lentils-kalapei-kyetharhin I just use angel hair pasta, but it is intended for Chinese egg noodles or rice. You can swap in green onions and red lentils work too.

@@throughput6674 There are e-bikes in all varieties like road bikes and mountain bikes and everything in between. Mountain bikes tend to be more expensive as they have more components like suspension systems, so they are not as widely known or available due to costs. If you plan to use an e-bike plan to have a small bike trailer as well. You do not want to have all your kit on the bike like a touring bike's bags as it makes maneuvering a pain on off road trails, and backpacks are not comfortable or safe for long term use on a bike as your shoulders will become painful swollen or worse in time. The trailer will massively increase your cargo capacity and safety, it also allows for a second or larger battery pack, and makes having a mobile solar system possible. Also some trailers designed for bikes can also function as a wheel barrow when not on the bike, say for collecting firewood or water for instance. What most people do not consider is that bikes and especially e-bikes require maintenance and parts, be prepared here as well. Tubes, tools, chain links, etc. This will add complexity to your choice of an e-bike as an escape vehicle. Though could be an excellent scavenger vehicle using a pickup or camper as a base vehicle to operate from.

Use this as a "Prepper College course curriculum". Search & study videos & books related to the wisdom & force multiplier skills suggested below, because they don't weigh anything so "the more you know the _lighter_ your load" & they can't be easily lost, broken or stolen. *_Proverbs 22:3 "The shrewd one sees the danger & conceals himself, the inexperienced keep right on going & suffer the consequences."_* *"TWO is ONE & ONE is NONE"* After you get 1 of every item listed below then get a matching backup to each item because stuff gets lost, broken, or stolen. *"RULE of 3"* You can die within 3 seconds of indecision when facing a fatal threat (predetermine reasonable losses) 3 minutes without air (freediving breathing techniques) 3 hours of exposure to extreme weather (contrast hydrotherapy -Wim Hof) 3 days without water (practice focus while thirsty -fasting from all liquids) 3 weeks without food (fasting) 3 months without a long term plan (seasons change) 3 years without a partner/team (screen members now) 3 decades without reproduction (new generation) *FOUR FRIENDLY FACETS* Instantly increase positive response from strangers by: Smiling Raising eyebrows Tilting head slightly to one side Open hands with fingers aimed down & palms forward *FIVE to SURTHRIVE!* True, we should be prepared to survive without energy/electricity or public water. But creating energy & water off-grid means more than just surviving, it's thriving! Dehumidifiers are useless without electricity or humidity & prepared to filter the water. *SIX SHIELDED SHELTER* _"Watchout With Wetty, Windy, Warmy, Wicky, Wiggly & Widow-makers!"_ Build a shelter high & dry above where it may get "wetty" during rain but close enough to a "wetty" source to stay hydrated; where "windy" is blocked when it's cold but allows "windy" when it's hot; where fire wood keeps you "warmy" but where it's shaded from "warmy" when it's hot; shelter off the ground that will "wicky" away body heat & has "wiggly" critters; don't shelter under a "widow-maker" dead tree/limb that may fall & kill you. Remember, you need something to sleep under, to sleep on & to sleep in. *SEVEN CORE MEMBERS* Anyone opposed to your core Principles & Purposes of life should NOT be in your group! All skills should be cross trained. GUARDIAN (Security, safety) HEALER (doctor, medic, nurse, therapist, herbalist) PROVIDER (hunts, farms, fishes, forages, or scavenges for food & necessities) TINKERER (engineer, scientist, mechanic, handyman, tradesman) CAREGIVER (domestic [cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc], counselor, teacher/babysitter) OVERSEER (empathetically unemotional, logical, strategist, negotiator, leads by example, organizes supplies/equipment & tasks) CHAMELEON (quick learner, adaptable, willing to change positions & has other skills not listed) *EIGHT CORE SKILLS* LEARNING/MEMORY attention=retention, repetition=recall, adaptability=survivability HABIT CREATION study "Atomic Habits" & use cues, craving, routine, reward; Success is compound interest of effective habits MEDITATION & FASTING enhances attention span, self-discipline, pain & stress management HEALTH & SAFETY Eat better but less; Move more often & faster; Hygiene keeping clean; "Ounce of prevention, worth a pound of cure" so eliminate hazards (fire, etc) & develop safety protocols MEDICAL First-aid & Trauma Care: practice M.A.R.C.H. algorithm, because YOU are your "first responder" PERSUASION Study negotiation, barter, body language, micro facial expressions, active listening, psychology, persuasive language patterns, listen to your instinct PROVIDE Hunt, Fish, Farm, Forage, Scavenge: get, reproduce, harvest & store animal/plant food; "When you can feed yourself, you can free yourself!" Ultimately the best survival items are ones you already have & know how to use, so practice improvising equipment/tools. Outside of B.O.B. hang a small bag of "survival pocket litter" that includes one item from each of the following categories & immediately empty bag into your pockets/hipsack & onto belt just in case you get separated from your B.O.B. I don't know the calorie count, but dried kelp or wakame seaweed is very synergistically nutrient dense. We make a delicious broth from it (does not taste like the ocean) and we add some lemon juice to balance it out. We also cold brew organic alfalfa pellets which can be gotten at a local animal feed store - the roots go down deep and thus very nutrient dense. I love canned peas with Uncle Ben's original converted rice and some fat or oil added. Fat is very satiating and calorie dense and keeps the gall bladder ducts lubricated and moving (no stones).

@@lindalaws3857 We purchase at a great price two five gallon buckets of organic alfalfa pellets, normally used for animal feed, but since it is marked organic we deem it good enough for us too, and we cold brew it in distilled water for 24 hours or more in the fridge. Here is a grid-down pasta salad made with a one-burner butane or propane stove. Ingredients: 1 or 2 cans oil-packed tuna, 1 small can sliced black olives drained, vinegar to taste, 1 package dry short pasta pieces (I like the multicolor rotini pasta), salt and Italian seasoning to taste. Instructions: Cook the pasta in water until al dente, drain and put into a large bowl. Flake the tuna, mix it and its oil with a little vinegar, salt and Italian seasonings. Add the tuna mixture and the olives to the pasta and toss until mixed. Serve and eat right away if you do not have refrigeration. Sprinkle each serving with some grated Parmesan cheese if you have any. Also good if topped with crumbled cooked bacon (really anything tastes better with bacon).

I'm just now able to comment, because a weather event called a Derecho unexpectedly developed on Monday Aug 10 in Iowa. It had 100+ mph winds for over an hour where I live in Central Iowa, and the level of destruction was unbelievable! I just got my power back a couple of hours ago on today Friday Aug 14. It's hot and humid here, so living with no power for 4 1/2 days was pretty miserable. But I think what happened is exactly why you should prep. We had no warning. If you don't know, a Derecho is an inland hurricane. We had at Cat3! I was driving around town running errands and was caught off guard. I took me an hour to get home. Trees toppled, power lines down....on every street. I had to back track and turn around go back...on and on until I finally made it home. This disaster is still ongoing. Many people are facing another week of no power because the destruction is statewide. Dinner Monday night was Chef Boyar Dee ravioli prepared on our gas grill outside. Tuesday - spent the morning driving around town trying to find ice., but I did get 40lbs on my 4th stop. I didnt eat all day until dinner....velveeta shells & cheese and canned BBQ Beef over some bread. Wednesday...ice search again....found it at an open grocery store, so I bought steak and grilled it for dinner....Thursday morning....had to take my husband for a post-op dr appt.....then ice search....made sandwiches....ate a lasagna that thawed from the freezer for dinner but not enjoyable because it hot and we were hot already.....finally power this morning. Almost total loss of fridge and freezer food. We need a generator. Anyway be prepared to make due for a day or two at least.

Glad you made it through. We had a power outage the other night. Everything was pitch back so light was the immediate need. We ran our generator, hooked up the fridge and a few lamps, and got the guns ready. Power came back on 1.5 hours later, so we didn’t suffer, but it was a good training event for the family

I experienced the Derecho also. A week without power and limited resources was a good trial run that showed me what I need. Gas sold out..now keep my tanks topped and containers full. All candles, tarps, tree removal tools, generators and campstoves sold out. I now have an ample supply of candles, lighters, flashlights and batteries, battery stick up lights, solar lights, extra tarps, homemade rocket stoves, lint balls and dry burn materials. Perhaps I'll buy extra chainsaw blades and oil considering it took months to cut up all those trees. Thank God we didn't go through that during winter!

That is the type of realistic event that we all should be prepped for and my 1st goal in prepping. Last winter's Texas event really brought that home for me. So many people came home after the power was restored to secondary damage from frozen and burts pipes. My initial goal is to be able to get by for a week with food and water plus auxiliary fuel enough to stay healthy and keep the house from freezing and then build upon that for larger events. Also keep in mind if you're on a municipal sewage system, that with a wide ranging power outage sewage may backup and your toilet won't work. Have the equipment on hand to block off sewage exits in your home that are at a low level such as basement stationary tubs, bath room facilities or Laundry drains to prevent sewage from coming in.

Canadian prepper your videos are without a doubt the best prepper videos on KZread, I never thought about prepping until January 2021, and so with everything that's going on in the United States of America right now everyone needs to get ready, I live on a fixed income a little over 700.00 a month there's not much left after I pay my rent and bills but because of the Canadian Prepper I make sure that I buy something once a month that will help me out if needed...you don't have to be rich to start prepping commonsense and the Canadian prepper will help you prepare...so please friends get ready because everything that's happening in the world right now is and has to happen, so if you believe in Jesus and read your Bible then you know this is true...and if you are a non believer please read about the prophecies in the Bible start with Mathew read revelations I did ....So stay safe...Take care of your family...Don't turn on each other... Be kind to one another...Look out for your neighbors and friends...And most importantly pray, God will guide us...Thank you for reading my comment and may God bless you...

I spoon of dehydrated egg to 1 spoon of water will bring it back to as before it was dehydrated. I've got 12 quart jars full so far and sealed. I'm about to start putting them in mylar bags in 5 gallon buckets. Not just the eggs though. I'm making sure to dehydrate as much as I can so if the power grid goes down for any length of time we won't loose our food. I can't wait to get a freeze dryer. Grow and stock up folks.

Hello CP, May I add, beans at seven years of storage, harden. No amount of boiling, soaking, Pressure canning, will soften them to be eaten. However, mill them into bean flour, then add the bean flour into boiling water, makes very good "refried beans", very useable... I made tacos at a church function, by milling and boiling, every one was pleased...
