Precisely. All those factors, yes. Eventually, only its success rate in battles counts. Most of these 'whizzo' machines will never actually be deployed in battle. Nations will buy and maintain them at a huge price. Already obsolescent, in a short while they will be obsolete

It's not just the aircraft. It's also the weapons systems and the combination of those two plus other features like countermeasures, stealth, etc. A good question to ask is, "What's the range and dependability of their air-to-air missiles? And how are they guided?

You completely forgot the Swedish JAS-39 Gripen E that is an INCREDIBLE multi-role fighter (Hunting,Attack and Survilance) STOL (Short Take Of And Landing) It recently outmanuver and scored 2.5 per unit against US F-15!!!

The Su-57 is incorporated with 3D thrust vectoring controls that give the aircraft better agility and maneuverability at high speed and altitudes. The Su-57 3D thrust vectoring control capability is deemed to be better than that of the F-22 Raptor.

As others have said, the Mig 31 is a interceptor. My major disagreement with this video is about the F15. With a combat record that it has and years of service it should have been at least at number 6. It's a better fighter than the F18...

I agree with your first point but the F18 is superior to the F15, If we are talking combat record then yes the F15 is better but the F18 is more maneuverable, it has newer technologies and is largely multirole for attack, dogfighting, Navy and more.

MiG-31 is a dedicated look-down/shoot-down capable interceptor, designed to protect Russia's vast northern expanses from the threat of submarine and/or bomber-launched cruise missiles coming in from the high arctic. It is top of its game in the world, in that regard, but NOT a "fighter" in the sense of being an aircraft specifically concerned with wresting air superiority from other fighters (in most scenarios, it would never realistically expect to encounter short-ranged 'fighters' over the vast Russian arctic). While an impressive aircraft in its time, the F-15C/D/E would not be a realistic contender with the 4.5-gen' and beyond: 4.5-gen' and above would likely render it completely blind with their advantage in embedded EW tech. Rafale and E2000 I am okay with except that I would have put Rafale over E2000. Both are multi-roles, with at least as much emphasis on air superiority as other roles, although the Rafale is the stealthier aircraft (the E2000 was not particularly designed for stealth at all whereas the Rafale was designed with the mantra, "as stealthy as possible without compromise to performance"). While the F/A-18C/D were true multi-roles in the sense of having adequate dog fighting capability, the F/A-18E/F sacrificed much of the legacy series' dog fighting performance in favor of greater capacity for air-to-surface ordnance (remember, they were designed to replace not just the F/A-18C/D but, in a single type, the A-6E). The F-35, likewise, is a strike aircraft 'capable' of air-to-air combat...similar, in turn, to the J-20. The only real "fighters" on this list, in terms of aircraft with a primary or, at least, "equal" (where multi-role) emphasis on air superiority, are the F-15C/D, E2000, Rafale, Su-35, Su-57, and F-22. To make up a list of ten, in terms of ten aircraft with primary or at least equal emphasis on air superiority, I'd expand to: MiG-29 "Fulcrum-C," F-16C/D, F-15C/D Su-27 "Flanker-B," E2000, Rafale, Su-35 "Super Flanker," Saab Gripen-E (bizarre omission - arguably top of the lot in EW capability), Su-57, F-22. That's if you were picking single aircraft for a single pilot. On a force-wide scale, taking budget into account? Su-57 may well be more practical than the F-22, just as the T-34 was more practical than the Panther.

the f-15 is definitely a competitor for 4.5 gen aircraft... the rafale, gripen, and typhoon all have giant vertical rudders that basically destroy their stealth. also, what makes you think that the su-27 is better than the f-15? The f-15 has a better t/w, better dogfighting capabilities, a better radar, better missiles, and better range. The su-27 has an AoA limiter of about 29 degrees, while the f-15 does not have an AoA limiter, and the su-27 and bleeds speed much quicker than the f-15. the top speed of the f-15 is mach 2.5, while the su-27 has a top speed of about, from what i could find, mach 2.35. the su-27 is also a much larger aircraft.

Каким образом все эти чудеса могут помочь в реальном боестолкновении,где выигрывает тот ,кто раньше обнаружит противника и пустит более точную и высокотехнологичную ракету и которого не могут засечь ,произвести радиолакационный захват и наведение средства ПВО потенциального противника.

При форсаже двух двигателей выделяется максимум тепловой энергии ,ракеты противника ее прекрасно видят тепловой головкой наведения , так что Отдыхай и кури бамбук,это не цирк с представлениями.

Главное у них - неуязвимость, маневренность, ударная сила и , конечно, мастерство пилота (+удача). А развороты и задний ход - детские игрушки.

@@electroaimant5402 I was actually working for a subcontractor doing the FLIR for the YF23, the OTHER competitor in the Advanced Tactical Fighter competition. The 23 lost, our FLIR won and got put on the F22 platform (it was supposed to be a whole or nothing package win, but they changed it after they saw our capabilities). I was actually working in the building and lab where they were designing, integrating, and pre-testing that FLIR, but I was working on a different, much lower performance FLIR, on a boring build-to-print contract from GE...bummer. Whole point of that, finally (I know), is that the 23 was a much better looking bird than the F22, outperformed it in most respects, too, but contract awards are really fickle sometimes. My guess is this one had to do with current production levels and capabilities of the two companies, compared...who knows. None of the 5th gen fighters are gorgeous, by any standard (RCS considerations), but the 23 was DEFINITELY the better looking of the two, MHO.

If it's a joke, sorry, because I am fully aware it ruins the whole thing to have to explain it to someone being slow on the uptake. Maybe it will hit me when I stop thinking about it. I have been accused of OVER thinking things many many times. ;-)

In 2009, the US Air Force sent 12 F-22 fighters from Alaska to Andersen Base on Guam as an experiment. The rainy weather on the island turned out to be merciless to combat vehicles, and it soon became clear that in conditions of high humidity, the electronic systems of aircraft work unstable, and the cooling system of computing components in a humid atmosphere simply refuses to serve. It is not known whether this flaw has been fixed. But it is known that since then the F-22 has never been used in a humid climate.

F35 has the same problem. It cant fly in wet conditions as the stealth paint peels off. Which makes them uselss as carrier based planes and they cant fly through clouds or when its raining. So far the only stealth planes that have actualy worked were the RAF lancasters of WWII. Its not down to the shape its down to the paint. The black paint u see on all British military vehicles ground and air is stealth paint the Brits have been using since WWII. It absorbs radar instead of reflecting it back making it invisable to radar. Its why RAF bombers during WWII had the underside painted black and camoflage on top. Night fighters had to find them from above as they couldnt see them from underneath. its not just any black paint its a special paint only made for British forces. The way u see the camo painted on brit tanks is to break up the outline and night vision can only see the green parts not the black parts making it harder to ID what it is.

Lauren Thompson, an analyst at the Lexington Institute, was the first to speak on this issue on March 22, 2011. According to him, the most advanced American combat aircraft is simply not designed to perform military tasks similar to those that were implemented in Libya at the very beginning of the Odyssey. Recall that the main purpose of the first stage of the military operation was to ensure a no-fly zone over the territory of the African state, for which it was necessary to disable all air defense systems that were under the control of troops loyal to Muammar Gaddafi. At the same time, the confrontation of Libyan aviation was not taken into account (and indeed, since the beginning of the Odyssey, no Libyan aircraft has been seen in the air). Thompson noted that the F-22 is not physically designed to strike ground targets. The aircraft can be armed with two adjustable 450-kilogram JDAM bombs, which are capable, however, of hitting stationary, but not moving targets. In addition, as it turned out, the F-22 radar is not able to map the terrain, as the synthetic aperture radar does, which means it cannot independently select ground targets. This actually means that if the F-22 in its current form is used to bomb any objects, information about the targets will be loaded into the aircraft's on-board computer even before takeoff.

Sadly, the F-22 was first developed in 1989 and the most powerful Russian fighter aircraft came out only in 2020 which is an extremely large gap
