Check out the Blanket Stitch by Rich Textures Crochet. It is a reversible stitch (looks the same on both sides). I have a blanket I've come to a halt on because that color of yarn is no longer available. It sits in storage while I desperately look for a close match, lol. The more maddening part is that I only need to go another 12 inches to finish it. It works up quickly and doesn't use up a lot of yarn. My project is a queen-size throw, and I've used 4 jumbo skeins if I remember correctly.

I am planning on making a blanket for my boyfriend for Christmas and I have all the stuff I'm just figuring out what stitch should I use. I want it to be a more tighter stitch where there are no holes and that he could use the blanket all the time!!

You and your hubby are such a cute couple. This was a very enjoyable video. I have a limited amount of yarn for a blanket. Could you please tell me which stitch/es that you spoke about in this video, are not yarn eaters and could complete a good size blanket? Thanks!!!

I just learned how to crochet and starting my second blanket. Your video on the best stitches to use really helped making a decision. I have done numerous swatches but never the star stitch which is beautiful. Your tutorial was so easy to follow. You’re a great teacher. Thank you!!

lovely options but for me there is no getting around it with crochet blankets. when it comes to crocheting blankets for warmth , then the best pattern will always be any design that uses single crochet throughout the entire design. for example the wintry throw i am almost finished making , tho it has all kinds of fancy designs like popcorn stitch, diamond stitch pattern, arrow stitch pattern, but throughout as the base behind it all is single crochet. it is the single crochet stitch for blankets keeps the covering of the blanket warm. if you are wanting a breathable blanket then the other stitch options is best for that :)

Just a suggestion from someone who's been crocheting 46 yrs,use stitch markers on the first and last stitch of each row when crocheting Afghans/Blankets/lapthrows .It will keep your edge's straight & you'll always know where your first & last stitch placement is.
