Great video, I'd say the band that jumped to shark for me is Motley Crue and Slayer. haha.

@@stevesekora Post-Seasons Slayer is very and hit miss with me personally. Some good albums, but some of them are pretty bad too imo. Never been a Crüe fan to be honest.

Bands that jumped the shark for me: Def Leppard: I thought their 1st 3 albums were Absolutely great and Fun Hard rock/Heavy Metal albums. Pyromania is an album I will always adore…. But it was a success. And then they decided to go way more pop. Hysteria I think is a pretty ok album with some good songs, but every other album they did post Hysteria, I can’t get into at all. Manowar: kinda cheesy but I really think those 1st 5-6 Manowar albums are really solid Heavy Metal/power metal. They made fun fast songs, they could do long epics but after Kings of Metal I really felt like they just haven’t ever gotten back to even close to that quality at all, like they became a parody of themselves. Dream Theater: I think their 1st couple Albums are absolutely great. When Dream and day unite I find to somewhat be a gem, I love Images and Words a lot especially the guitar solos and James Labrie’s vocals , Awake was a Great follow up, the change of seasons EP is my favorite thing they have done, Falling into infinity was not as good but still had some decent songs. Metropolis Pt 2 Was a fantastic Concept album that flowed so well. The compositions on there are still easily some of the best of the band’s whole career. But everything ever since then I feel like they became the Prog stereotype. Of making 40+ minute songs with a million time signature changes, absolute soulless music that feels like they are just there to show you how good of players they are instead of writing good songs. When they lost Kevin Moore and then eventually Mike Portnoy, they lost everything that made them special in the 80s-90s to me. Venom: I think they are super important to black metal. And I really do think their 1st 3 albums are really good. But everything after that is pretty boring imo and when bands like Celtic Frost, Bathory, Metallica, Slayer started making albums their fame faded out. Entombed: I like left hand path (even if I do think it’s overrated) , Clandestine is decent. I loved Wolverine blues. But some of the albums they released immediately after are so god awful. Same difference rivals Aluminum anus in how awful it is. The albums they released after with Entombed/A.D are better, but they still aren’t that great imo, just boring death metal imo Geoff Tate Queensryche: From the Self titled ep all the way to Promised land imo is one of the best Runs a Heavy Metal/Prog metal band has ever had. Rage for Order and Operation Mindcrime I think are some of the best Prog Metal albums ever created. Even if they went a little more mainstream with empire I still thought that was a great album that balanced out the more pop commercial sounds and their classic sound really well. Promised Land is a step down but still was a great album….. then it all fell down a cliff. Every album got progressively worse and worse and worse and worse and worse. Todd La Torre saved them imo. Danzig: the 1st 3 Danzig albums are stone cold metal classics That I have always enjoyed. The decline started with 4 but that was still decent. Then it went to shit by 5 and never again was Danzig ever able to reach the heights of those 1st 3 albums. Now he makes shitty horror movies and Horrible covers albums that prove how far his voice and music has fallen. Pestilence: you said it Arch Enemy: also you said it Slipknot: also, also You said it Thank you for listening to my Ted Talk

@@blackwaterrust476 Totally agree with your takes on Manowar, Queensryche and Danzig. Prime Evil was the last really good Venom album imo, after that, there really isn’t much to salvage. I personally enjoy post-Wolverine Blues Entombed. There’s some stinkers for sure, but I enjoy albums like Uprising and Morning Star especially. Not a fan of Def Leppard or Dream Theater at all personally.

I always thought Venom had way more to offer than just the first 3 albums. But we all hear things differently of course.

@@kamo124 Yes, after Nattens Madrigal they really started to experiment with electronica, synth-pop, ambient and even avant-garde stuff at times. Nowadays they’ve transitioned into a full on electronic pop group. I personally don’t think post-Nattens Ulver is bad or anything, it’s just really not my style.

For me it has to be Slipknot, they fired Joey, Chris Fehn and now Jay, I just really don't get it... But the new stuff isn't that good, like I think they should have retired at the grey chapter or We Are Not Your Kind. Like I keep hearing they are making a new slipknot album, Like if it was just them touring around, that's fine but do we really need a new album from them? Corey's Voice has massively changed, yeah he can still sing but screaming rapping he cannot do anymore. So I think they have jumped the shark massively, but great video dude.

@@PrimeDecanus Thank you! I agree with everything you’ve said, Slipknot have definitely jumped the shark for me, especially with all the shady business about them firing members for no apparent reason other than money most likely.

Anvil is probably one of those bands for me. The first 3 albums are great, just classic heavy metal. But everything after that sounds exactly the same. Like it's not even some kind of formula, literally every single album and song sounds the same to me.

Down. NOLA is top 5. Bustle is slipping... But great Everything after just doesnt have the magic. And since you are playing COC... They jumped the shark with Volume Dealer... But got back underneath the shark with the very album you are playing in this vid.

@@stroberdolb9183 Well, I can’t say I agree lol. I agree Down never reached the same heights as NOLA, but I personally like all of their releases. COC were definitely trying for a more commercial sound with Volume Dealer, but I still enjoy plenty of the tracks on that album. I agree ITAOG was a big step-up though.

@@JustAnotherHeavyMetalManiac Its all good. By the way... I agree with you about Static X in everything you are saying .. but Wayne made the whole thing a gimmick when he did his Wayne Static stuff and introduced the sleazy sex appeal nonsense with his wife at the time. Can you really fault the band for trying to put on good shows for their fans? It's analogous to Pantera ... I personally will never support either.
