The calipers are a massive help. When i got my first one, i needed it for a very specific task. But it quickly became a common tool i reach for multiple times a week.

I use Amazon and I know times are changing but I do try to support my local model shop , there dying out but it’s nice to have a wander round touch things 😊 and see what your buying, as for Velcro …. My old army nbc suit had some great Velcro on it so tough 😂, great tips👍

I gave up on local support for two reasons: 1) The one remaining local hobby shop I have is so overpriced it's just not worth it. I'm not going to pay $17 for epoxy when I can get an equitable substitute for $6. 2) Amazon often has same day or next day delivery. I don't really need to see filament before I buy it.

@@RCVideoReviews that I do agree on prices … apc prop £10 in shop uk online £4.50 , what can be annoying online is like I brought ten servos hardly top end but-to be delivered all not working the hassle for a return can be not worth it Guess I’m a old fuddy Duddie who’s always had trouble accepting change 😂😂 , ps I’ll try and send you that price of a cup of coffee you have been so valuable to me of late , just know there’s a grumpy old guy who really appreciates what you do 🙏

Will do Bill. That double sided velcro is unbelievably handy. I used the rest of what I had right after the video making battery straps for my Tron 7. I hurried up and placed a replacement order before you guys bought them out ;)

Nice list John. There are so many useful products available today that it's hard to keep the list short. One of my favourite products is 3M Dual Lock. Ideal for mounting receivers and especially gyro stabilizers. The "snap lock" quality provides rigid mounting and it is genderless, unlike hook and loop. Have you ever found yourself with plenty of "hook" but no "loop" or vice versa? That can't happen with Dual Lock.

Yeah, I do need to try that stuff. I used to run out of one or the other, but that was back when I used it for battery mounting. I've gotten away from that with the silicone pads.

I'm glad that you finally discovered the Liperior brand of batteries, they're pretty amazing in price, performance and weight for the money. Great lineup and review of products BTW, the silicone battery strips are definitely the way of the future.

@@RCVideoReviews My mistake then, it's just the first time I've seen you put them on your channel. SMC is also coming out with a new high cycle life high voltage pack here pretty soon, which I intend to use on my high current draw edf jets. I've also exclusively used the Ummagrip silicone type pad since it came out for battery placement, the stuff is amazingly sticky and secure.

I generally avoid battery brand oriented content because it’s a wildly subjective topic. For every person that loves a brand, there’s another who almost burned his house down because they puffed and developed 95ir on the second flight.

That's funny, that looks like my list of favorites 🙂 Remark to the flush wire cutters: I also was going through them pretty fast, and then decided to spend a little more money. I bought a Knipex a couple of years ago, and I'm still using it 😉 As another useful tool, I would add a crimping tool for Dupont connectors. It makes it easy to make your own reliable and professional looking servo cable extensions and Y-cables etc.

I used to make my own servo leads. It’s a bit tedious. I’ll look at knipex. Thanks for the tip.

that umagrip will keep your battery stuck to the tray even without the velcro straps if you leave it on there for a long time they are tough to get apart

About the only thing missing was liquid adhesives: epoxy, hot glue,. CA &, cement. Otherwise GREAT list! Ill def get that hook up wire & im about out of heat shrink, i like the heat shrink type you featured also the kind with solder in the middle is super useful, though a bit heavy.

are those silicon battery pads basically the same as "ummagrip" for quads? I was just about to stick a strip of velcro in here, but i'll give that a try instead

  • @RCVideoReviews

Ummagrip is a brand name like velcro for hook and loop. So yeah, I think essentially the same thing.

Great selection of useful products. A great product for quads with underslung lipos, like racers or my Merica 8 inch build. Is 3M dual lock, way stronger grip then velcro. Really helpful when can only use one lipo strap. Was suggested to me by Neill Whiteley of Catalyst Machineworks. 🤓

Question about the callipers. When you say these are better than the plastic ones are you referring to the part that holds the screen - it is metal on these and plastic on others. The most common callipers I have seen (and the ones that I have) have a steel ‘ruler’ part but the housing that slides on it is plastic. My pair is beginning to glitch so looking for a replacement and would prefer something with more quality. I have seen some that state ‘stainless steel’ on Amazon but the sliding enclosure looks the same as mine, plastic, but sneakily sprayed a metallic silver colour. I’ve also seen some that look just like the ones you show - so just checking before I buy, is the sliding part that houses the display metal or plastic?
