10 Advanced Tips & Tricks for Settlement Building in Fallout 4

Ойындар

This video will showcase the foundational techniques that I use for my settlement builds for Fallout 4.
0:50 Settlement Size (how to get Infinite Build limit)
1:35 Group Select/Pillar Glitch (more accurate object placements)
6:20 Rug Glitch (Placing non snappable objects anywhere you want)
8:40 Campfire Technique (Sinking objects inside floors)
13:00 Wire Trick (wiring electrical objects together regardless of distance or collision)
15:00 Decorating with Items (+dealing with items falling through)
19:10 Creative item Decoration (just introducing some items you'd normally wouldn't think of building with, will cover more in a future vid)
20:30 Settlement Population (how it works and how you can get infinite population)
22:25 Building Resources (useful perks to acquire + a dupe exploit if you want to cheese)
24:50 Unlockable Workshop Item List (I COULD be missing any but I think I got them all)
27:40 A quick building timelapse just to show examples of the building techniques.
I'd like to thank Skooled Zone, Sar Deliac, Benson Yee, Kate Funkberries, Ezefallout, The insane Shecklador, and many others for inspiration of this video.

You can group select by holding down the place button instead of pressing it (A on Xbox, X on PS, E on Keyboard). I have made the assumption that everyone knew how to do it or has accidentally done it at some point but I was mistaken. //Tip Timestamps// 1) 0:50 Settlement Size (How to get Infinite Build limit) 2) 1:35 Group Select/Pillar Glitch (More accurate object placements) 3) 6:20 Rug Glitch (Placing non snappable objects anywhere you want) 4) 8:40 Campfire Technique (Sinking objects inside floors) 5) 13:00 Wire Trick (Wiring electrical objects together regardless of distance or collision) 6) 15:00 Decorating with Items (Dealing with items falling through) 7) 19:10 Creative item Decoration (just introducing some items you'd normally wouldn't think of building with, will cover more in a future vid) 8) 20:30 Settlement Population (how it works and how you can get infinite population) 9) 22:25 Building Resources (Useful Perks to acquire + a dupe exploit if you want to cheese) 10) 24:50 Unlockable Workshop Item List (I COULD be missing any but I think I got them all) 27:40 A quick building timelapse just to show examples of the building techniques. Notes: I didn't put the wifi glitch in this vid as I have had actual issues with it (crashes), so Its not something I do in my builds nor is it something I recommend.

Same with scrapping trash. It's stupid that we can't clean up the settlements. It's fine for a raider role play, but for a regular settlement it doesn't make sense to leave the trash lying around. Even Goodneighbor would look significantly better with clean streets. But I guess Bethesda assumes that life after nukes means filthy living for everyone.

Modding really ruined settlement building. The limits in place made all the glitches and snapping techniques to be used imaginatively. Mods made settlements deeply boring because people could just build anything. I appreicate you teachihg people the techniques to build without mods. After years I can create some great structures. Buildings that look like Bethesda made them with the tools they have available to them. At some point I plan to make some mini-build tutorials, but I'm just too busy with work most of the time. OR I'm playing Fallout. The biggest tip I can give is: Learn the order than items can snap, this will allow you to create far more intricate structures that remain inline with the relative snapping grid. Because if you glitch too many items in place, it makes snapping anything together next to impossible without continuing to use glitches.

  • @orangesqueasy

@@orangesqueasy I guess I'm a little overzealous about the mod aspect of settlement buiding, but in my eye sits a bit like old school programming, in that what developers program with the PS5/XBSX today isn't anywhere as interesting as what people were doing with 8 bit, 16 bit or 32/64 bit gaming. Stringent limits being put in place can create some genuinely interesting hurdles for creators to come up with great ways to overcome them. I don't begrudge anyone using mods, but it just makes for less interesting settlement videos in my eyes. I've got a simple mini-build video showing how to create Bethesda's rounded metal shack on Spectacle Island uploading right now, so that will be live soon. This will be the kind of videos I will try to upload more of. I'm not great at finding the time for making videos, so my channel is either completely chaotic streams or very short videos. But I've written a plan for a number of short Fallout 4 short videos.

@@radconx being honest here, I'm really not interested in modded builds either, takes away the challenge and fun out of it. Of course as a content creator I'm just trying to avoid unnecessary drama from any potential taken out of context comments.

@@orangesqueasy Oh yeah, I get the need to avoid upsetting anyone. I think modding is an incredible thing, and some people have created amazing modded settlements, its just something I don't indulge in other than 8 years ago when they added mods into console versions and I dabbled in settlement mods for a bit. I lost the lustre for creating due to that, so I quickly removed those mods. I think the internet can lack diplomacy at times, so I appreciate your tread carefully approach.

Thank you for this! I just got into FO4 for chiefly the settlement building, so videos like this are a godsend. I’ve rage quit a couple of times due to trying to fix up the ceilings/roofs and floors of sanctuary in the last couple of weeks. But videos like this make it actually fun! So thank you.

If you use two power conduits connect them, scrap the wire with the item you want built ready in selection and you can keep building, but it doesn’t lower the meter, you just have to keep scrapping wires, or I noticed if you scrap anything with an item you want built. You’re work is amazing thank you for sharing your wisdom
