man i was where you were literally 6 months ago, but i've stayed so dedicated and done my study and it all makes sense now, its all just about staying dedicated and then soon all you'll need is the playing ability. what helped me out is all the numbers mean are references to the key note. Best of luck, I hope it makes more sense four weeks after this, you got it!!

That was laid out so beautifully. I'm 78 pro guitar player most of my life My first teacher dropped me because he said he had nothing left to teach me. My closest alternative was 60 miles away ( I lived in the country) I dicovered the Mickey Baker Book and quite by accident Wes Montgomery.I played Rock a Billy at the time. Although I know most of what you're doing and do a lot of it myself, It seemed to take me a life time. Played with stars of the 60s and 70s cuz I raised 4 familys and almost drank myslef out of the business. Fortunately I have a fair bass baritone voice and can sing most of the songs from the 30s thru the mid 50s. Takes some pressure off of not having the same chops anymore. My gloal was to be a great jazz guitarist. but I'm happy. I wish you all the luck in the world. You are undoutebly one of easiest teachers to follow I've ever seen (with all due respect to Jens Larson)

Thank you very much. When creating tension within the structure, are you thinking of leaving the key or simply creating tension against it? As an example, I often irritate myself when playing by deliberately removing tension in favour of a rounded melody, if that makes sense? So I'm trying to understand more about how tension is employed and why. I understand that tension can create movement, but it often sounds tense enough for me to actively avoid it, sonically speaking, rather than entertain it and move with it. Thanks again! My very best to you.
