I think that players like Radford were tossed to the wayside because of Sir Alf's over- insistence on the '66 players made it difficult for others to break in. Yet when that time came to bleed new talent it was too late. Despite the likes of Keegan, Francis etc. coming into vogue, it was a rough transitional period.

England 1966 has three World Class players: Charlton, Moore and Banks. Others international class at best. By not having to qualify they had four years of resting on laurels and becoming too old and complacent. Even Charlton (at 32) was an old man come Mexico and couldn't do the full 90.

Bob WIlson in goal before he became a commentor.
Look at the state of the pitch. It is a quagmire !! I do enjoy 1970s football. But more work was needed to improve the pitches. That is one of the advantages of modern football. Imagine the best of the 1970s players on better quality pitches ??? That would have been a great combination.
Eddie Kelly was there somewhere; wasn't Ray Kennedy No.10?
Bob Wilson, Anchor Man?

Rick Parker yes, same guy.
Arsenal beating Liverpool to go top. Crazy days. 😀 Funny that Ball gets mentioned as having his best game ever for Arsenal yet apart from the penalty he is hardly featured in these highlights. If I had to pick an Arsenal player based on this it would be Wilson or Radford.
the other Arsenal players: 5 Jeff Blockley, 6 Peter Simpson .... 10, Ray Kennedy, 11 Eddie Kelly
Derby won the previous season-Liverpool won that year with Arsenal in second.
Pourquoi john Radford ne jouait il pas avec l'équipe d'angleterre alors qu'elle n'avait plus d'avance centre . Peut être qu'avec lui, elle aurait joué la coupe du monde 1974
Might be wrong, but think Arsenal didn't beat Liverpool at Anfield again until that famous win that clinched title in 1989.

Arsenal actually had a good record at Liverpool this was followed, a 0-1,1-3 , 2-2 all at Anfield
Liverpool: Clemence Llyod Hall Smith Lindsay Lawler Hughes Callaghan Boersma Keegan Toshack Don't know about Arsenal mate. Great to see Ray Kennedy, what a player he was for both clubs. RIP Ray.

Yes Ray Kennedy developed Parkinson's at an early age but he's still with us - thankfully
I don't think Ray Clemence ever saved a penalty in a league game throughout his entire career.

Clemence did save a penalty in 1973 UEFA cup final against Borrusia Monchengladbach. Not sure what his record is in terms of penalty saves in the old English First Division.

Keepers seem to save penalties more often today than in the 70s. Maybe it's cos you get far more penalty shoot outs than back in the day and keepers practice it more and they get more experience too.

I remember Ray Clemence saved a penalty at Dynamo Dresden, result:0-0.
