Love her voice, hate her politics

Her political opinions are atrocious… her early 90s haircut is unpleasant.. her decision to wear a black dress in front of a black background is downright unprofessional… her face is annoyingly smug and bovine…her yeast infection is off putting for the musicians…..her fat arms remind the audience of her disappointing, prematurely drooping , clumsy breasts …her earrings are funny in a hotel lobby gift shop way, I guess someone that’s into early 90s earrings loves them..

The late Robert Buck R.I.P. was awesome on guitar as well. I really hope a lot of people get to see this on KZread that never really seen her and realize what they missed.

I have to wonder if her body of work here is superior to her solo-striking out. Guess you have to respect her decision to leave. Still love her raw, very-real authenticity as an artist, independent or with 10,000 maniacs.
I saw 10,000 Maniacs in 1987 at the Santa Barbara County Bowl. The venue was packed! I remember seeing a young girl with her hands clinched into quivering fists - held to her chest. I was instantly reminded of old photos I had see of young girls at 'Beatles' concerts; with unabashed, reverent, near - hysteria - about to faint or collapse. Natalia Merchant with her profound lyrics and her magical stage - presence moved me and others deeply. I will never forget that day!
