At this point one singing teacher has told me that it would be better for me to just play an instrument (which I do, I just transitioned from guitar to bass) than to sing, and my father has refused to even consider letting me follow singing lessons cause I don’t have a natural voice and no talent at all (and this is actually confirmed by vocal coaches) and my response is basically “fuck y’all imma get singing lessons in secret and pay for them myself then teenage rebellion wins again”

Great job! To me you are an example of a singer who has a good ear for picking out sounds in the voice that both feel and sound good. Nice intuition. I train singers as a vocal coach now but like yourself I was able to realise what sounded good in my voice after about a year of singing seriously. It's not that easy to keep it consistent when you go higher and more powerful in the voice, but in the lower softer range it is not too difficult to make it sound good
