    I have 5500 miles on my 2023 High Country 3.0 LZ0 and really like it. I traded in my 2020 2500 6.6 Duramax and really liked that also but the ride was rough. I miss the power of the 6.6 but the 3.0 is no slouch. I agree with your likes and dislikes but an addition for me would be the camper mirrors that don't offer auto dimming Great video on a nice looking GMC!!

    Have a 2020 SLT, really like the truck, almost 75k miles. Has had a coolant pump leak and oil leak fixed under warranty. Brakes rotors warp too easy, may be the stop and go traffic. I average 27.5 mpg with highway and heavy traffic on the commute home. Seats suck, I added a purple seat cushion and no more issues. I also added the roadmaster suspension. Helped with towing my airstream. We'll see about the next 75k miles if I would buy another one.

    I have the 2022 refresh with 20,000 miles on it. ..essentially the same truck. I love the truck. It is a incredibly smooth and comfortable truck. The only difference is I have the 5.3 (with no AFM due to chip shortage) . I would agree with this review. The only slight difference is the review of the seats. The seats are definitely firm. However as a tall person with back issues, the seats are God sent. My 5.3 fuel economy in my opinion is excellent for a V8 gas engine. Up in Canada the fuel cost for diesel is about 15% higher. I think your fuel economy in the long run would warrant the extra cost of the diesel engine. Not sure of the increase cost of engine maintenance though. I would love for you to do a video on options for a beefed up rear suspension options, taking into account the adaptive ride suspension. . Springs ,air bags or Timbrens?. I do not know. Thank you.

    2023 Denali here with 20k miles. Absolutely love the truck and engine/ transmission combo. Fantastic duo. The 3.0 Duramax and 10 speed has to be one of the best on the market. Hands down. Miss a sunglasses holder as well as a 12v outlet. Such a strange omission. Google is awesome. I love that you can kill the door honk setting (as opposed to my Ram). Also love that you can completely shut off all exterior lights. I don’t love the back seat lift catch mechanism. It’s sticks. Seats are ok but not great cushioning. The leg position is excellent and it’s easy to sleep in the passenger seat while traveling. The wind noise is annoying. Ram beats the heck out of GM for a quiet interior. Agree with this review entirely

    Your video is the best I have seen on the 3.0 Duramax. I have a 2021 Denali and it is the most impressive truck I have ever owned (79 years old and have owned about 10 trucks , all GMCs). Currently it has about 63000 miles on it and it averages 30-35 mpg on the highway and always 25-30 mpg around town. I'm light-footed and a very conservative driver. Due to my own distraction I recently put some DEF in the wrong fill port and was surprised to learn how many others have made the same error. Please convince GMC to put the DEF fill back under the hood or on the other side of the vehicle. I know, I should get a cap or T-shirt with the word "STUPID" on it.

    Gm did something with the seats for 2024, I have an in-law that has 2023 Silverado and the seats in that truck are about as comfortable as a metal folding chair. They are so uncomfortable I counted gm out when upgrading my truck last month, however my local ford dealer decided to play games with me so I went and looked at a 2024 2500 Denali and there is a very noticeable difference in the seats, much more comfortable! Granted they’re still not as soft as what I had in my last ram but the seats are plenty comfortable for me

    Diesel vehicles get better fuel economy period. I don’t know what the current figures are but at one point 51% of new vehicles sold in Europe were diesel because of the high price of fuel. Until this point GM is the only company to do half ton diesel well. Any half ton truck towing a travel trailer should have rear suspension enhancement. Sumo springs or air bags would make towing with that truck much more comfortable. I use Timbren springs on my Tacoma which makes towing much more stable. That’s a very nice truck.

  • @TheAverageJoeBro

    @TheAverageJoeBro

    GM has the best towing game in the market for the half ton class. Every truck and every trim come ready to tow, no need to replace the hitch… ahem Ford. The suspension and frame are unrivaled, independent suspension on say a Tundra makes for a better ride but can be challenging when towing. Which is why GM still employs the leaf suspension. GM also adds on-board TSC as an option on most of their trims. My truck came with TSC no extra charge. I’ve towed 7500k with mine… felt like nothing.

    I tow all the time and I have not used a 12v plug since I had an old flip phone. If I need beacon lights I have bought battery operated LED beacons and they last for a very very long time on 2 D batteries, I actually have yet to have one run out of batteries and I’ve done at least 1500 miles of wide load hauling or being a pilot vehicle.

    I wish that they would offer this engine in a long-box regular cab. I do not need the rear seat for my use case, but oh well. My concern is that, as a 1500, it will be too squishy. The "firm" seats sound good to me, so I guess I might go check it out.

    I bought mine 9 months ago and have put 48k miles on it. Over 90% of that is with a 6k lbs trailer behind it. After installing a Roadmaster HD spring, I have no complaints when towing. The interior is not my favorite; the seats are too stiff. You can feel the pain in your rear end after driving for over 3 hours. No drivetrain failures or any maneuver problems. The forward assist warning was defective several times in clear weather; disconnecting the battery fixed that. Parking brakes kept failing to engage in the first 10k miles. I went to the dealer three times to switch out parts, and it runs well now.

    I bought a ‘24 AT-4 in November with LZO 3 liter, it has a heavy duty 110 volt outlet in the bed that runs work tools and a 110 volt outlet in the interior console. GM must have listened! I’ve had 3 Dodge eco-diesels, they all did pretty good on mileage, my ‘14 was the best. It would do 32 mpg or better at hwy speeds. My 15 had suspension issues and my ‘18 lost the motor under warranty luckily. Overall put around 250k on them total and loved driving them. However my new AT-4 blows them away! I must admit the Dodges seats were more comfy though.

    Update we just drove from Boise Idaho to Cheyanne Wyoming today. The AT4 3 liter at 75 miles per hour the whole way, averaged over 28mpg. That’s a lot of up and down hill travel. We had 2 people plus 600 plus pounds of gear. We used to have a Dodge Eco-diesel but the motor went out, luckily under warranty. It was very close mileage wise but the GMC rides much nicer and has better features. Love the steering assist. I also bought an everlasting comfort seat, it makes all the difference.

    Also looking right now with the 3.0L Duramax #1 consideration. Not only the amazing fuel economy but would also be a daily driver which pushes me away from the 2500...as the backup is the wifes Fiat 500. Thanks, but no thanks! Wish Denali offered the Max Tow Package as but available in lesser trims including the SLT I could live with. Switching to Chevy it is available in the High Country trim. That $800 option solved a lot of your issues with heavier rear springs, trailer tuned suspension, rear axel increased to 4100 lb from 3800, more of a towing 3.73 rear axel, but more important, the higher GVWR supports higher combined weight rating 15000 to 19000, conventional to raises the 8000 to 12900, tongue weight 800 to 1290 with load at 1675. Even with a RV similar to the Surveyor, that is almost a nobrainer for towing.

    the problem that has plagued many small displacement diesel-powered vehicles is their use in frequent, short-haul trips that fail to achieve and sustain optimal engine temperatures leading to problems involving combustion waste build-up and other unexpected maintenance problems.

    100% agree on the 12v and USB. Like, seriously. How does any modern truck let alone a top of the line trim on a luxurious truck like this have such low power USB ports and no 12V ports? Everyone has 12V accessories already and phones these days need way more power to charge at any reasonable rate. It's the same deal for their wireless charger. It charges at the same speed as the USB ports. And just craps an error half the time anyways. The only thing I disagree with you on is having a wireless charger and Google services. A wireless charger that holds a phone well is a very nice thing to have in a vehicle, especially one with wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto. The vast majority of people are going to use one of those because it is personalized (their own phone) and works amazingly well. It's vastly superior than any built-in system IMO. Heck, anyone with a Android phone already has all the same Google services via Android Auto, so what is the point? You have to pay a monthly fee even to use the Google services in the truck which is another obscenely stupid thing about it. I have heard that you may be able to tether a phone internet connection to the truck and use the built-in Google maps with GPS navigation without the ripoff OnStar subscription, but I'm not sure. But again, why not then just use Android Auto or Apple Carplay? It always irks me how these companies cut corners just enough that it won't sway people away. I get it, especially in lower trims. They are a company, not a charity. Their goal is to make a profit and that is it. But on higher trims, there is no excuse. It is only because people still buy these trims. I'm sorry, but what exactly about this Denali is worth $15k-$20k more than my Elevation with premium package? The seats? The suspension? I have the 360 camera system, the Bose premium sound system, the bedliner, running boards, rear power window, adaptive cruise control, power moon roof, leather heated seats, heating steering wheel, 3.0L Duramax engine... And yet you get the same trash USB ports, wireless charger and lack of 12V. On a top of the line trim, everything should be top of the line IMO. Why spend so much more money just to still have much the same complaints about the truck? It's not hard to put in aftermarket seats or suspension if you must. But it's not like the lower trims have really bad seats or suspension. Both are just fine.

    You are wrong about diesel vehicles getting better fuel economy!! I purchased a 2022 Denali Ultimate 1500 with the diesel. Am pulling a 27 foot Airstream. Comparing to my 2018 Hi Country with the 6.2 gas the diesel defiantly gets much better gas mileage However the diesel gets about 15-20 percent worse mileage pulling the trailer!! Also we travel a number of high mountain passes - Salmo Creston, Anarchist,Roger’s etc. and the truck will not keep up to the posted speed limit- 100 kms. per hour - in a number of stretches- was not a problem with the 6.2. Love the Ultimate but a 2024 6.2 will be waiting for us in 2 weeks time.

    I have similar likes & dislikes in my 2023 Denali w LZO. Additional dislikes I would add...coming from Ram Ecodiesel. This motor drinks DEF...@1 gallon/1000 miles...more if you are towing. DPF regen is every 200-300 miles, compared to 800-900 miles in Ecodiesel. Google assistant & Google maps is nice but I believe you have to pay for it when Onstar/WiFi trial service ends. Bose radio is just ok...also no HD radio. Why is GM still using radio antennas when everyone else them now integrated in windsheild.
