@@Baier82 I did not, although I'd love to try something similar in future. I was using it primarily as a rental, but sure was fun to be able to use personally with the family too. We have a larger fifth wheel so it was kinda nice having the NoBo with it being so compact and easy to camp wherever.

Great video/review and appreciate the details! IMHO, I would not "overland" this trailer for a couple reasons. First big one is the standard ball hitch. For serious off-roading, that is an accident waiting to happen. A good articulating hitch is what you would want. In rough terrain or uneven conditions, you don't want your trailer to pop off the truck or twist the frame. An articulating hitch is far better for uneven terrain where the trailer might be leaning to the right while your tow vehicle is leaning left navigating a trail, river crossing, etc. A lot of RV manufacturers are making "off-road" packages, but this is mostly a sales thing. Even if the trailer has a great suspension, an Overland trailer has everything focused on just that. Second, you will typically see increased ground clearances, articulating hitches, hand brake, aluminum/composite construction, and a whole slew of other features on a real Overland trailer. Granted, they are expensive, but there is a reason. This is probably fine for some dirt roads and such, but definitely would not do anything beyond that. Again, great info/video!! 👍👍

Best review of anything I have ever seen.Two Windows with screens, 12v fan and front wall AC. Skip the sink cabinet and just have outdoor shower compartment. Awning that covers cooking area. The tv seems stupid over your head if it is in couch mode? Heater. Looks awesome and I will keep an eye on these trailers to see if they make any changes. I have had good experience with my current forest river pop up camper but I want something more adventurous in the future.

Huge issue for me that wasn't covered (above). The first few nights in my 10.5, I woke up with the outside of my sleeping bag drenched, as well as all plastics, metals, and the front ceiling (around a/c unit) , soaking wet. From then on, I slept with all windows open, which is not easy in high-altitude CO. This happened whenever there was a cold or rainy night, which points to a serious issue with condensation. Running the a/c or fan solves the issue, but most forest-service and national park campgrounds don't have shore power. I should add, even open windows did NOT solve the issue. I have serious mold sensitivities, so I was very bummed. The only thing that worked was a large rechargeable fan. So this means that during nights that are in the 40s in the CO Rockies, I have to sleep with both windows open, and a fan running. Serious design flaw, in my opinion! I agree that a 3rd window would help, along with a 12 volt powered roof top vent and fan. I think Forest River really messed up in this respect (not to mention that there is no heat source for off-grid camping. Here is a serious off road camper, yet it relies exclusively on shore power for heat, and even for a fan?

I've heard that Dometic may be bringing some of the 12V ACs from overseas to the US which would be super cool to see in something small like this.

@@beronicamontes8565 Negative. RTT is always an option on the NoBo 10.6 and 10.5. However, most dealers that stock units on their lots order it with the FRS Roof Top Tent. So you'll probably see it more commonly with the FRS Tent at dealers. I bought mine without the FRS tent from a dealer and then opted for the 23Zero RTT instead. Maybe I'd estimate 1 out of 10 units on a dealer's lot may come without tent? Just a guess.

I have an iKamper and had a similar situation with my netting coming away from my zipper like your magnet. I carefully used Super Glue to fix and it worked like a charm! I’m looking to but a Nobo and will move my iKamper up there! TY for a fabulous review!

I keep mine right at the 45-50psi mark (cold). Mine came with the Cooper Discovery AT. They are rated up to 80 psi (just shy of 5K lbs total between two), but that would only be needed for a load that exceeds the 3500 lb GVWR. No harm done though in running higher psi closer to 80, maybe just a rougher ride.

Another great video. I’m trying to figure out how to grease the hubs as I’m about to do some long distance trips. Any tips/mechanical things to watch out for when for towing long distances?

I usually just keep up with my tire pressure and check the warmth along hubs and axles at stops to be proactive. I have only read two horror stories of individuals on NOBOs that had failures due to lack of grease in hubs and one other where the weld on torxion axel failed, but those are very very few and far between. I think LCI supplier does a good job of keeping everything lubricated from factory, though some may disagree. Could probably go at least 10K miles before needing to check them after initial purchase. I've had great success towing longer distances on it both myself and my renters...so far at least :)

Have handle loops sown over the magnetic clips for the screen. It helps and makes it easier to take the screen net off.

You nailed it. I've looked at them all (or at least most) and the price point for what you get sells the 10.6. To get a similar Bean trailer from (Utah) with similar features you are looking to spend $10K more. Even something like a Turtleback Getaway which is just a trailer to haul a roof top tent nicely equipped cost you close to $30K not to mention shipping to east coast if you don't live in AZ. Nucamp TAG XL cost $23,900 (I just stopped my local dealer) and that doesn't have an awning, roof top trailer or hold 30 gallons of water. 10.6 you get a lot for the money. As long as quality passes test this is great camper.

So far we are loving it . I have camped out of it one time. But I have 3 camping trips set up this year already. We waited 4 months. I heard lead times are up to 12 months now. They cannot keep up with the demand. It’s crazy.

I think Dometic is bringing some of their 12V compact roof ACs to the USA market (from Europe and Australia maybe?). Might be a couple other brands coming too. I think we'll start to hear a lot more about 12V ACs over next couple years. Game changers for sure!

Awesome review. I’ve been looking at this particular trailer for a while and getting ready to pull the trigger on one. Being based out of Las Vegas we like the oversized ac for our extremely hot summers.

I think your updates with moving the a/c and putting in a good fan above are right on. I have a no-Bo 10.6 as well and I was thinking of mounting the TV on the exit ramp end and on the side pillar so I can watch TV while sitting in the chair. Also I can fold outside so I can watch TV outside. What do you think of that idea. Let me know. Thanks for the great video.

A wall-type unit might be more quiet in the bulkhead. Especially when in the RTT sleeping

Nice review. Couple of questions. (a) When you were filming the corner support jacks - it looked like there was rust along the bottom frame of the trailer, underneath the ramp? (b) can you zip an awning extension to the bat wing to cover the slide out cooking area? I've seen bat wings set up facing forward so you cover the cooking area. That would leave the back doors without an anwing but they sell a simple roll out awning that could cover that area. (c) does the pantry cabinet sticking into the inside space bother? (d) lack of the max fan is a "no go" for me.

Thanks for feedback. Sure, glad to help. A) Some surface rust on jacks, but that's pretty normal and can be touched-up annually...same on A-frame portion up front. Don't recall rust on frame, but there is some black/gray expanding foam between frame and corrugated platic panel underneath...just sealing any gaps. I've found I have touch-up most RV frames within first year or so with a nice thick enamel. B) Rhino-Rack offers zip-on accessories including screens and extension walls...but they just go at an angle to the ground, so no additional coverage at top as far as I know up top. FR specs the "right" version of the Batwing, but you're correct there is a "left" version that would rotate out the opposite. Definitely checkout the 23Zero Peregrine as it is a nice alternative! C) I don't mind pantry cabinet personally and I don't recall hearing complaints from any of my renters on that. I guess the trade-off is outweighed by the functionality of the pantry perhaps? D) Agreed, maybe FR will factor in a 12V roof powered fan and smaller wall AC in future...fingers crossed :)

Agreed. It's really a great value. Not perfect by any means, but for the $$ you get a lot of fun and value.

I'm in Florida but if I was closer to the west coast I would definitely have a closer look into mammoth overland, they are in Washington state.

Rent a trailer to abuse it 😗 In my area renting rv is crazy expensive and bunch of additional fees on top of it, together with insurance and damage deposit. Changing RV parts ain’t cheap, if I rent it and damage something by accident, even tho nothing has to be replaced, they will take it out of damage deposit or at least will have a nice fight.

Just an FYI the ibex 10 LHG is exactly the same trailer as the no boundaries 10.6 though the new 2023s have the beast mode suspension.

If you use glass you can add bubble wrap to the inside to keep private unless you need it open.

Great review, couple of questions. Are the bed cushions easily removable so you could store perhaps a larger motorcycle inside? I don't mean take them all the way out but just push them up to one side of the trailer. And don't know how much of a motorcycle guy you are, but would something the size of a KTM 1190 then fit in? @@ronsimmsfan2661 Bought mine new in early 2020 before all the supply/demand issues arose. Since then I've seen some crazy high asking prices from some dealers as much as $25K on a loaded 10.6, but I think you should be able to get closer to $15K on a fully optioned unit, or closer to $13.5K without the RTT. I would imagine supply and demand will level out over the next year or so.

On yr magnets, play with stickers! Grab some stickers and put them on. About 3 to 5 thousands of an inch of paper sticker will decrease the power of those magnets 10% for each layer. We put 3 round stickers on each of the metal parts on the wall and now you can remove the mesh back door with ease. Cost = $2 from Walmart in the craft section. Paper has been on there a year now.

Dude you hit the nail on the head with the A/C unit. They shipped mine with the coleman mack one which I believe is even louder than the Dometic and it is so loud and so powerful I can never get the humidity down in the camper. (not to mention hard to fall asleep at first) I would love to find a solution. Especially living in South Florida! Loving everything else in here. I snapped my awning knuckles once and have never left it without stakes since, also I found I will never end up using the TV so will be removing it all together. Same issue with the cooktop too melting the knobs when I use the cast iron griddle. Don't get me started on trying to recover the rooftop tent with one person LOL. Overall loving the NOBO so far and I would buy it again!

sell the unit and install a 5k, forest river probably had a Dometic overstock, because to to operate it you will need a 4000w generator, or be at rv parks... a 5k cost 200 but the dometic about 1000, makes no sense...

For the magnets, sew some fabric pull taps next to the magnet for the renters to pull on. That way they aren't pulling on the screen.

Glad to help. I got them direct through Forest River NOBO service team. They don't have an ecommerce site setup yet, so you have to call or email direct. I happened to be ordering some other items at same time so just had the extra 2x stoppers added in. Think it was just a few bucks. I will say they can get overwhelmed sometimes with phone calls and emails, so if you don't get through first time on phone try sending an email or leaving message. They should get back to you within a few days and you'll pay over phone and then the parts department will ship it to you. So not quite like ordering on Amazon, but they do deliver in the end...just a little slower. Think part is just due to surge in RV demand, but also after-effects of COVID19 impact.

As a new 10.6 owner, I’ve appreciated your helpful video series on rig mods. Curious if you’ve had any performance issues with the 12v cooler maintaining the set temperature when it’s operated while slid into its bay? Trying to determine if others are having similar issues with poor ventilation, or if it’s a unit warranty issue. Temperature set at 25degF. Seems like a potential design flaw. Thanks

No issues yet on my Dometic CFX3 series keeping the desired temp while inside. I think there should be plenty of ventilation inside the slide bay and it kinda spills over into the cabin. I have noticed that 32 degrees is usually the ideal temp on mine at least, and it'll naturally be a bit cooler around the perimeter. But, I also wonder if the way I pack it differently may impact the cooling as well. Dometic has been great to work with in my experience so may not hurt just to send them a quick email or call-in and make sure all is okay on your unit. Keep us posted.

I replaced the 12v outlet in the bay. It was not connecting well to the fridge cord and was causing the fridge to turn off. The new outlet is much better quality. No problems now.

@@boosttv5688 I have the same issue with my 12v outlet it is very finicky. I have noticed that if you put a small frozen yeti ice block in the bottom of the cooler before your trip it will virtually get the fridge to 32 degrees immediately and even keep items at the bottom frozen with fridge temp items staying up top. Mine has the Truma cooler and I love it so far.

Now days the hard shell tents to go with are made also by 23 zero. Their Armadillo Series are the absolute best out there IMO! Forty five seconds to set up and most importantly, about a minute and a half to un deploy and stow away. Quality second to none.

My plan on my10.5 was to put in one of the round push out type of fan. Cannot remember the brand.

I guess Forest River took your suggestion on the window unit a/c and exhaust fan. I'm looking at the brand new '23 10.7 and they have a small window unit a/c built in now and a slim exhaust fan up top to keep the roof line clean for more gear or their roof tent.

Follow up ?? on your experience with the drop down rear. What anot re your thoughts on it's strength. My thoughts are to bulk it up, put some leveling legs on it and use it as a deck. But I'm concerned it's just not made for that.

I remember seeing one owner do the legs like you suggested. I think they did it more for their dog. It's pretty solid and thick, but probably not approved by manufacturer to do the legs, no surprise. Maybe a 300 lb weight limit if legs are put in right spot?

I offroad a lot. Do you think it would hold up to actual rough trails? Do you know how the bottom of the trailer is built? Is it particle board just screwed onto the trailer or how is it built??

It has a steel frame, but bottom is covered with plastic corrugated panel so that's all you see underneath. Ground clearance is decent and it does have torsion axle compared to traditional axle. Floor on top of frame is either osb or plywood. Then walls are laminated with luan inside, composite azdel outside behind the fiberglass. Then foam block in between. Pretty standard RV construction. I think you could definitely get a more off-road worthy trailer, but spend a good $5-15k more. So I'd say NoBo is great value for the $$. Probably would just take it slower off-road, even if I had a $30k version of it.

Can you mount another awning on the other side that would swing around to cover the kitchen and connect to the other?

Typically the awnings mount on top of roof racks, so with tent on opposite side might be challenging to rig the mount for a second awning. Would recommend the 23Zero Peregrine awning for increased coverage at kitchen area.

Does NOBO allow for a 2” receiver (maybe on the 10.5)? Need to put a bike rack on as it would be challenging to safely secure 3-4 bikes inside during transport.

The model year that I owned did not have a tube, but that would be a nice feature. I think you could weld one on to the bottom under frame. Would just need to cut/trim the plastic corrugated underbelly and probably run the 2" tube a good 16-20" from last frame rail visible to 1 or 2 moving toward front. A welder probably would charge $100-150 to do it perhaps? Ground clearance would suffer slightly, but I think you'd be okay as it has a good bit in the back to begin with. Great idea though. I never liked it when renters would try to load the bikes on the inside as the pedals and handle bars would want to rough up the interior walls. So, always thought it'd be better to mount on the outside somewhere.

This would be awesome !! I ride dirt bike and skydive. this would be perfect to take to the track or trail and stay for the night or camp on the Drop Zone for a weekend of skydiving. How much does this cost?

Get an Intech Flyer Explorer if you're taller than 4"10. Also look at the angle of the loading ramp, that'll be a joke running a dirt or sport bike up into a shoe box...not a lot of common sense here from FR. Being 6' tall, bwahhh always slouched over when loading a bike, tools and gear and then arranging weight distribution inside, no thanks...plus try getting geared up for an off-road race in a shoe box when it's 45 degrees out, another BIG no thanks. For going to the track and races, this FR unit is pretty much useless. This is just another FAD unit that won't last long as a toy hauler idea....might be ok for the general camper with bicycles.

Nearly rented it(I'm in Johns Creek). Still plan to if you haven't sold it, whether it will haul my bike or not. It's funny that the larger 19.1 has all sorts of internal dimensions posted, but this toy hauler has none of that. My bike is 8.5' by 5' tall. Is there any chance it'll fit?

Sure, glad to help. So the 10.6 and 10.5 have floor space essentially equal to a queen size bed, so that's right at 60-inches wide and 80-inches long. Sorry about the bad news there. Even diagonal, that would translate to just over 8 feet across a queen-sized bed. And, to be candid you'll notice the walls in the 10.5 and 10.6 aren't lined with carpet or anything protective, just the regular RV wallpaper, so I think even if it could fit, it would damage the walls with all the movement and friction in transit. Four wheelers fit nicely, but for a 2-wheel bike I think a truck bed or larger toyhauler works best where you can properly tie them down side to side, etc. Again, sorry for the less than good news on the fit there. Thanks for the interest though!

What site do you use to rent out your nobo 10.6? Also how do you handle damage to the rig? Any problems getting renters to pay for damages?

It's a common mod that a lot of owners do, but it doesn't come like that from the factory

Totally agree the AC is way over powered. My 2000 watt generator struggles to run it so unless you’re plugged with shore power, it’s not useful. A fan would have been better. My AC leaks when I spray down my roof even if I’m careful to not spray the AC unit, have you had any leaking issues with yours?

No leaking issues on AC, but I did have to replace one on another travel trailer previously. If I recall there is a fairly thick one-piece foam seal that is supposed to seal the connection between the outside shroud and roof. Then inside if you remove the ceiling bezel inside there should be 4 large screws/bolts that clamp the outer housing to the inside. I wonder if either those 4x screws/bolts aren't tight enough, or the foam seal might have slid?

i cant find the replacement parts on the knuckles for the awning. Mine snapped and ive looked everywhere finding those parts. please help me out

Yes, I have a Honda rancher which is a fairly large quad and it fits inside just fine. Toward the end of this particular video I pulled out the laser tape and gave the measurements of the floor space and also the opening on the back, so that should give you an idea of exact measurements if needed. But, I think any typical average quad will fit in there just fine.

I just purchased the ibex 10lhg which is the same trailer but I upgraded with the Kurt beast mode suspension would you be willing to do a video showing how to fold the awning up and get it back in the awning storage bag I deployed the Audi when I got the trailer it took me and two other people three hours to figure out how to fold that thing to get it back in and it’s still bulging out in one area where we almost couldn’t get the awning bag zipped up

Nucamp Tab, inTech flyer/Luna, or Little Guy are the main competitors. Tons of custom Teardrop markers out there too, especially out west.

It would be a fire hazard ‘especially renting’ if they extended the ‘bat wing’ over the kitchen area. Would be nice,yes….but safer ending the extension. Wouldn’t you say?

Possibly. I think it'd be okay for me personally unless really high heat with tall open flames, but yeah probably wouldn't trust renters and such. Safer the way it is I suppose.

Have you or your renters had any issues with the door handles. I would love to replace with something beefier.

I do get questions from time to time from my renters about how to close the doors since it's a bit different from a car door. On my unit, FR supplied the Bauer standard RV lockset and LCI door. I can say the combo makes a very weather-tight seal, so requires some force to shut. I have noticed lubricating the lockset makes it easier (right where plunger is) and sometimes on other units I've had to adjust the striker plate out just a bit to make it smoother in closing. It is a standard lockset cutout though, so should have no issues replacing it. Bauer recently released a new handleset that is more car-like. I have not tried it out yet, but it looks promising. You should be able to get it ordered to be keyed-alike with your existing locks: bauerproducts.com/product/bp-35/

I need this but lighter....how much weight can you dump if you get rid of the tent on top and that huge awning.... Can you get it without that drag out kitchen and just keep the fridge inside( nobody wants to cook out there or hop out fir a snack in a walmart parkin lot) Basically i need this empty lolol no tent no awning no couch etc ...prefer a cot ....wonder how much weight removing all that will drop

Scooter, yes I think so. Small motorcycle, maybe...perhaps with front wheel turned/angled? Then just need some ratchet straps to attach to 4x D-rings on floor. For reference a 4x4 Honda Rancher ATV just barely fits width and length.

I think your idea of using a max fan in the ceiling is a VERY GOOD idea but how about using a COOLBREEZE PORTABLE AIR CONDITIONER as an OPTION? I'm certain SOMEONE makes a PORTABLE HEATER that way an individual could be TOTALLY OFF GRID CAPABLE? 🤔

I bought mine way back before the pandemic and then typical lead time was right at about 2 months on average. So I'm not quite sure what it is at present but I'm going to guess probably closer to 3 to 6 months. If you spoke with a sales rep from a larger dealership like Couch's RV Nation up in Ohio they could probably advise as they buy so many they would know fairly accurately what things are looking like right now.

Why don't you just rotate your tent around so it covers the kitchen when it's open?

Tent has to fold out on driver side or else you forego the awning (can't have both folding out on same side). Rhino Rack makes two versions of the Batwing awning...right & left. Forest River specs the "right" version from Rhino Rack, so it hinges to right. Would need to get the "left" version to hinge to the front, but then that'd mean no shade in rear. It's really personal preference, but I'd imagine FR specs "right" version as most people probably prefer shade in rear where they sit as opposed to A frame up front. Always a give and take, right :) Definitely checkout the 23 Zero Peregrine though as it basically solves those problems.

Forest River cannot by code sell an awning that covers the cooking area. The height on the awning to the kitchen is too close to legally safely cover without causing a huge fire hazard. I wouldn’t put a new awning on until you’re out of warranty or willing to forego your warranty. Otherwise these things are badass

The batwing is only comes in one size, so have to choose between covering front or rear with the 270 degrees. That's the dilemma essentially. There are other awnings like the 23zero Peregrine that fold out both sides for additional coverage, but not as deep.

@@jgush1337 Not with the batwing. They just make a right and left version. So it's either or, not both. The only way to get both covered would be to look at an awning like the other one I mentioned from 23 zero called the Peregrine. It unfolds both sides, but is not as deep in the projection: 23zero.com/product/peregrine-270-us-passenger/

My new ones delaminated twice in a year so far, and recently the motor on the slide out just went🙄

Forest river as a joke and doesn't stand behind any of the products or warranties... try to get slide-out Motors replaced on a year old camper but they're only made 6 months and no one calls you back Cool campers but poor quality

They should beef up the fender flare with a piece of square tube steel under the outer edge

Not taking the tire off to neatly seal the lower edge is unprofessional. You can't blame it on not having a socket wrench. That looked sloppy.

2 years I have had mine total garbage.
