1 Year of Piano Progress

Музыка

Note: I was already a musician when I started the piano, I have been playing guitar since the age of 8 and electronic music since the age of 15.
For those who discover me with this video, my progress can seem very fast but they are logical in regards of my journey. I spent thousands of hours composing music, listening to it, and I already had a sense of rhythm and harmony because of it. The piano is very visual, so progress quickly arrived, especially since I spent a lot of time there (it was my number 1 priority during this year !)
I invite people who discover me with this video to go see what I have been doing for several years on my youtube channel and my soundcloud, to better understand my journey.
Good viewing :)

Starting playing the piano changed my life. After classes, I went home and instead of watching Netflix I chose to practice the piano, and somehow it helped me to get more energy, feeling productive and focus. I believe that what we learn always helps us in other areas of life.
I started by practicing famous loops from classic house music, because I listen to a lot of it, and I wanted to play it in live situation with my drumbox. I am also really interested in jazz and classic music too, and after practicing those simple loops I decided to get to more complex songs by playing them.
I got into music theory, just enough to understand what I play (especially in jazz music), why it sounds like this and how I can shape my own voicings.
Here is some cools youtube channel to learn piano jazz:
Piano Pig: / @piano_pig
Piano en ligne (french): / @pianoenligne95
I also highly recommand you to watch "Green Book" and "Whiplash", two of my favorite movies about Jazz Music.

Please note that he was already a musician when he started playing! Unless you are a genius, it's gonna be hard to reach this level in a year, especially if you are self-taught and have never studied other instruments. From this we can learn that studying an instrument gives huge benefits also when it comes to approach a new one, so set your goal, take your time and start this awesome journey. Study, but first have fun! 🤘

Omg same. I am on my first month as well on learning piano and its already a gap. I played for almost 10 years on guitar and learned about music theory as well. All I can say is that its not really hard to learn other instruments if youre already playing one instrument as a basis and learn the theory as you progress.

Playing another instrument doesn’t give you that big a leg up. I don’t know why so many commenters think that. You play the piano totally differently. It requires completely different muscle memory, and skills than, say, a guitar, and vice versa. This guys likely just full of shit. Either that or he’s a super genius and locked himself in a hyperbolic time chamber and did nothing but practice hardcore for 16 hours a day.

Everybody is amazed the way i play they want to know who taught me . I desperated many times while learning sometime I thought this job is not apt for me but i kept on learning untill i learnt & i conquered it. Today I paly 4 to 5 songs with adavnce arpeggios everybody was next to their window & listening to my piano's tune. Today i am so happy but it is half accomplishment prior to learning piano i was learning how to create a song for which i learnt (myself) sound engineering now i will continue from where I left off & one day I will make a song 😇

I remember when I first moved out from my parents to go to college half way across the country. I couldn't bring my piano obviously. After 4 months of no piano, I started going crazy. So I used financial aid money and bought myself a Roland JUNO 88. I didn't particularly like the piano sound but it brings back memories of those quiet nights I would practice alone. I really like the cool looking lights. I now upgraded to a Kawai CA58 but there will always be a place in my heart for the JUNO 88. I still have it :)
