My Bible has footnotes, and it says that there may have been a mistranslation and that God may have killed 50,070 men who looked at the Ark of the Covenant instead of 70

Basically, the Hebrew grammar can mean that out of fifty thousand men, God struck seventy of them.

In KJV the Bible is clear that God smote 50,070 men (I Samuel 6:19). The Word of God refers to this as "a great slaughter". If God killed 70 men that would not be a "great slaughter". It is important for us to not detract from God's Word. Thank you all for pointing this out because I came to the comments to see if anyone else noticed this.

My bible says God killed 50,070 hebrews because they looked inside the ark not because they looked at it.
