@@goldeneagle89 f+1=16 so divide this 16 by 16 itself and put the remainder zero in the answer and the quotient in next f and the same goes with this as well it will turn into 16 and divide this 16 by 16 itself again and the remainder in the answer and the quotient 1 in the next that is nine so plus this 9 with 1 and get A

I think what you do is:- 1. convert the number 72 from decimal to octal like you usually would. 2.find the 7's and 8's complement for the answer. 3. and at last, you write a 7 before the final answer to represent the " - " (the signed bit) That's all

15's and 16's complement is hexadecimal system which has digits from 0, 1, 2, .... , E, F. 1 + 1 = 10 is done in binary as it doesn't have digit 2.
