the first two hit were left handed, one hit on the rest as she backed away, the second took it in the buttock. The right handed batter, who didn't need a "river advantage" was backing off in the RIGHT HANDED BOX. Could it be the Washington pitcher just had a case of the "wilds" for 3 straight batters.

yeah, like arguing balls and strikes where the umpire never changes his opinion. MLB looks like the roadshow training for Barnum and Bailys AND unwritten rules are Crazy. If the pitcher has a no/no in the 5th or 6th inning, you can't bunt, even if the defensive teem has shifted all infielders to protect 1st base. Yep, training for B&B.

I do agree with you that I think they should have fixed it, but the rule book doesn't insist a change in dimensions as long as it is the same for both teams.

@@iinspireNP The situation was equal for both teams, which is why the UMPIRE didn't require the change. Just because 1 team cry's about something doesn't mean the situation was different. It means that the crying team could not adjust to the situation. BTW, I think that the umpire should have required the change, but that was their call, not mine to make.

3rd base coach cost them the chance at winning the game. How the hell do they not know the situation down by 2. This is the top level of college softball. That run at the plate doesn't matter. It doesn't win the game and it doesn't tie the game. Absolutely zero reason to send the runner on a 50/50 play. I wouldn't even send her on 75/25 chance to score. No advantage at all.
