I still can’t believe that CuratedTV only has 67k subscribers. They make such great vids of such unique and beautiful cars, I’m honestly shocked they don’t have a bigger following. John Temerian has such a great persona for the channel it just blows my mind there aren’t more people checking out this channel. Maybe it’s just my age and the fact that most of the cars that Curated deals in are the dream cars from my childhood lol!!

That is going to be a really interesting project. I absolutely luv the wheels Multipiece OZ racing F1 Plus is what they are called. I had a BRAND NEW set of OZ F1 Plus , not splits, that I special ordered directly from OZ back in early 2000s, but they were stolen out of my garage in Denver before I even took them out of the boxes. They never even saw daylight, Yes , I am very sour on that one, but I have the car that they were meant for still. I've looked but never found another set of those wheels. I've always liked those CLK AMG Black Series since I saw the Top Gear episode it was on.

simple on the transmission part.... the v6 m112 and m272 manuals trans bolt right up to the m113s .. i have done that to my clk500 all benz manual parts bolt right up.. pedal assembly , v6 flywheel and clutch all legos

I was just looking for Renntech since i knew, they were based at the Nürburgring. But in that building now is Kumhotyres. And when i search for Renntech, it shows me a Shop called Opus. Still doing Mercedes as before. Maybe they just changed names. maybe, they can help you with the rebuilt.

RennTech's global HQ is actually in Stuart, FL, only about 2 hours from us in Miami! They do have their European operations at the Nurburgring though

Crazy thing is, I used to have a similar CLK 200 -00 manual (5-spd), in same color. It looked almost identical to John's 55AMG. A regular person couldn't tell the difference from the outside, and mine had 136hp.

@@subway5907 Mine didn't have an AMG kit. I meant that a regular Clk 200 looks interestingly similar to this. Not meaning this as a diss. Sure car ppl can tell the difference. I do have an -84 Bmw 323 with genuine e30 M3 brakes and e30 M3 genuine front struts, all e30 M3 genuine hubs and some other parts tho..

Good to see “breakin balls” is not limited to myself when I take project cars to my friends shops 😂.. It’s always awkward trying to explain the Diamond in a rough whiles getting your balls broken by your friends 😂

I park all my cars / bikes indoors, cover the bikes when they aren’t being used and get all the cars washed once a week. No rust or corrosion issues.

i want john to know where to buy johns outfits his style really fits him

It’ll be hard work to get this right but in the end it will be worth it. I wouldn’t supercharge it just keep it the way it was meant to be.

Well the first few were supercharged, it just cracked sleeves.. But if we make the block bullet proof.. We are also considering leaving it be... time will tell. Whatever Hartmut says.

One serious question. Could this car receive a V12 m120 motor sawp with manual transmission?

You know renn tech is just up the road in palm beach. Maybe send the engine back to them to let them work their voodoo magic on it once again? Looking forward to this build!

Of course, we have a great relationship with RennTech, they do all our MB work. I've known Hartmut since I was a kid, his old shop was next to my dads in the 90's.. We have quite a few RennTech videos on our channel, check them out.

I'd keep the engine in it's stock form, especially with it having a manual transmission. The engine may well be fine so no need to re-sleeve it or anything like that? I've been looking at conversions because I have a 6 speed SLK320 (R170) hence studying Mercedes and Crossfire V8 M113 and M113K conversions. Although you wouldn't think it, the supercharged ones are really better with an automatic. IMO it would be better to keep this CLK's present ECU (so long as it's ok). Adding a blower will be a major headache to set up without going aftermarket injection etc. I'm excited to see this happen but it'd be better to keep it as simple as possible so as doesn't turn into a protracted headache

The thing is that the first few of these had a supercharger from RennTech, they just would crack sleeves due to the bore spacing being thin.. So with iron ductile sleeves, we can use a SC like an early model CLK60 and use a RennTech ECU who will be doing all the work to the car anyway and can handle with ease. Plus whiny and whoosy sounds are fun.

Any updates on the car??

From what I can see on a video It’s not that bad. I personally would save that chassis. Don’t swap the parts to your other car. That is a special vin to a special car.

Its a tough choice.. the frame is pretty bad. We can rebuild the chassis, but the title... potentially not.

That carbon needs to be sanded and re-clear coated.
