Simply because he isn’t Ukrainian. And this accent doesn’t differ from Russian much in any way, for foreigners, especially. Plus, still, how strange it might appear, Fyodor is the only one character from that country that does have such charming accent.

@@orderamurder5505 no, he introduces himself as nikolai because that's his name in the ANIME, not the actual author! Mykola Hohol was a Ukrainian author, similar to how Fyodor Dostoyevsky was! The characters are based off of real authors, and Nikolai is Ukrainian! You can look it up too :)
