@@dillonlexington Yes we are. 90% of our filming is cockpits but we do still film airports on a regular basis.

21:10, this was the Tu-154 that did an "accidental belly landing" in Thessaloniki as Malév flight 262 in 4th July 2000. The crew initiated a go around a bit too late after they realized that they didn't extend the landing gear, causing the aircraft to skid about 650 meters on the runway before becoming airborne once again. After an additional low pass (to confirm if the landing gear was down and locked this time), the aircraft landed safely. The accident was caused by the pilots turning off their GPWS system (the mountain tops caused the system to falsely alert them during approach) and since there was a 757 taking off the pilots of the Tu-154 decided to not lower the landing gear and initiate a go around. However the 757 took off and the captain of the Malév flight decided to land anyway, but since the GPWS was turned off and the tower was occupied by observing the 757, no one realized the retracted landing gear until it was too late. Malév was already phasing the Tu-154 out of service and ultimately decided that it was uneconomical to repair the aircraft and donated it the airport's firefighter services who used it as a training vehicle until 2018 when it was cut up for scrap.

Gosh, the old Crossair, Monarch and Air 2000 airlines. Worked with all of those back in the day!

So a wunderful video with older planes. So many Airlines are history now.

All these defunct airlines, incredible!

To see some of them airlines exist today in 2024 is awesome.

That air 2000 bought back memories, I remember the colour prior as well with the red lettering

29:50 Brought back memories... I was doing my military service in a camp just behind Heraklion airport in 1998 and we used to see such kind of amazing climbs from the Olympic airways pilots several times a day. People were saying that most of them were ex-fighter pilots not able to forget their old ways of flying. I don't know if it is true... :)

We had a bad experience on one of theirs flying to Kos, the damn thing had hardly no brakes and it juddered all the way down the runway as they tried to stop it.

Actually, the 737 was not pretty safe back then. I’d say (controversially) that it is actually safer now. Back then it had multiple issues, one of them being the rudder problems.

Actually, the 737 was not pretty safe back then. It had multiple issues such as the rudder problem. I’d actually say (debatable and controversial) that the 737 is actually safer now than it used to be during the -200,-300,-400,-500 years.

WOW! 1999. The good old days... Before the euro, when we had drachmas in our pockets and could actually buy something... Before half of Asia and Africa had moved into Greece... That Greece is forever gone... Good bye Greece and thanks for the memories...

Only the Petroleum companies have survived since then. BP and Shell.

Air Greece and Cronus Airlines don’t exist anymore though Cronus merged into Aegean Airlines. Macedonian Airlines also don’t exist.

On props, sometimes to save fuel during taxi, they’ll use one engine, shutting it down right after landing, or alternatively, powering it on before takeoff clearance. 😊
