Satie.......a genuine genius.....each piece takes you to a different place and time....my original chill out.....
Pure, unadulterated and visionary; for me Satie has always personified the early 20th century. Excellent rendition.

What I found as a good point for his music is composure or silence that are usually difficult to describe in playing music. It's not joy, depression or sometime anger but philosophy of stillness.

My first introduction to Satie was in high school in the 70's listening to, get this, Blood, Sweat and Tears. Yep, B,S&T.

Perhaps you could define and explain your point. Satie absolutely did not belong to the classical period. Not even to the following Romantic one. He is considered an important and influential composer and his music categorized as Impressionist or Atonal. But the trend inside "educated" music circles in Europe at his time was exactly to innovate and move beyond Classic and Romantic styles. He certainly went through the basics at Scola Cantorum, the religious counterpart of the liberal Conservatoire de Paris. Some of his compositions developed following traditional rules can hardly be regarded as pop or vulgar, but good examples of the pre-classic and classic like music.
