Great tip actually. Although some cologne may absorb into the skin, most evaporates because, in general, colognes are alcohol-based. Vaseline/petroleum jelly does not evaporate or absorb easily and stays on the skin for a long time. The trick here is that the aromatic hydrocarbons in cologne dissolve into the vaseline (an organic solvent) and are slowly released, so they stay around longer.

Yup this works, especially if you enjoy the fragrance as it smells out of the bottle as opposed to what happens after the skin reaction. For instance, my skin magnifies sandalwood and mutes a lot of white flowers. Using Vaseline (or any kind of wax) creates a barrier that prevents skin reactions for several hours. It’s definitely a compromise.

One of my top 2 colognes is the original aqua di gio they have all kinds of spin-offs and I’ve tried most, the newest one that actually really last is aqua ... blue but it still fades some what and it’s oil based, anyone who’s bought aqua di gio knows it fades fairly fast and that is when years back I figured I’d make ( I should fricken patent this ) aqua di Vaseline LOL All this depends on body chemistry as well. 👍👍👍

I have bvlgari aqua atlantique that i use and i smell it when i first apply it but at the 1hr mark it fades FOR ME😑😑...not other people...I get hella COMPLIMENTS for that and can hardly smell it😅😅
