I get their predicament. The City is trying to keep racing off the streets but they've got residents complaining. Who do you cater to? So trying to curb the noise is where they will start. There was talks about the event being cancelled completely if we can't reduce noise which is really sad. Both my dad & I have no desire for MSA right now but I'll be racing at Saldanha next month which should be very interesting.

Nah this mk2 golf is one of the most hardest car I ever saw in cape town keep it up bru

Lol. They should have told us at Scrutineering that there's noise restrictions and that we should avoid making a noise. Not after we raced. And yes, racing at Robots the week after MSA is usually very nice. Grip was significantly better. I gained 0.2s for free. lol.

The price of the 8R is crazy. Over a milli for a Golf. I think it will get a bit faster after it sees some more KM but the owner was cool. Not salty about losing at all. Haha.

There is tune only MK8 R running mid 11 sec 1/4 mile at like 118-119 mph. It’s a fully loaded car with AWD and anything you would need. I don’t see your point

the mk8 was stock for fuck sake. 🤣 If he was tuned he would put bus lengths on the mk2 which is waaay lighter and is pushing a big turbo. If you can't afford a mk8 don't cope with the sneak disses. 😆

@@BlamBar-qj8yh Mentioning that the Mk2 is lighter and has a big turbo but also dismissing the fact that the 8R costs over 4X more is ridiculous. The 8R has AWD, traction control, DSG, a trick rear diff & the performance package as stock. The Mk2 is FWD & manual. The fact that it beat the 8R is an achievement. My channel is about this Mk2 Golf, of course we're going to celebrate it winning.

If the mk8 was tuned he'd put bus lengths on you lol. Just a stage 1 tune on pump gas and stock hardware is all it would need.

It's very likely. They gain a lot with a stage 1 tune from what I've seen. From a dig it would be quicker. But rolling, it's going to need a hybrid turbo and ethanol tune to keep up.

It's been a while. But that 12.7 run was a send the shafts to heaven run. lol. Thankfully that didn't happen. But my extendo shift cut stopped it from running a new PB.

Do you have an aluminium flywheel ? Not only do they help with acceleration on level track work , they deaccelerate quicker making standard shifting quicker.

I've got a stock weight flywheel. It's the "deaccelerate quicker" that will kill me. I can't have the rpm dropping any faster, that would kill me. Accelerating faster would make the car spin more as well which isn't good. My dad's car had a light weight flywheel and we went back to stock to make it better. Really helps keep the car in boost with more load.

My best ever run with my MK8 R was a 12.4 at 110 mph. Stock obviously. Good video tho

That's a good time. 👏🏽 this one was off pace for sure but our track really sucks so it can't put all the power down. I have no doubt that it will be quicker the next time I race it.

@@lowdl We have a pretty great track in my town. I will be honest the day was pretty perfect. Nice cool 60F sure helped but if he tunes it they pick up a good amount of power. I have seen 11.3 at 121 mph with just a E85 tune

@@mqbr22 We also had 3 runs back to back so the odds was not in the 8R's favour. But yes the conditions needs to be good to run good times. I don't know how much effort will be put into this particular 8R, he's waiting for his RS3. But over time more will come to race. We just have very few around at the moment. They only came on sale recently. South Africa is a little delayed. Haha.

​@mqbr4695, we have 95 Ron at the pumps here, that's equivalent to your 91 Octane in the states, a stock 8 R will not see quarter mile times below 13's in South Africa, also important to note that this race track is at the coast, which should result in peak performance. The R just didn't stand a chance against this MK2. Coming from a Golf R fan boy, that owned all R versions. (MK6 R, 7R and a 7.5R). That said, a tuned 8R will be a different story, however, looking at the rolling and trap speed of that mk2, the 8R might still lose a rolling race against this MK2. Awesome car Lorenzo! I've got a AWC engine, which is essentially a small port AGU. I'm running a 54mm turbo.

I don't know much about it but this is what I've heard: It's a 2l 16v turbo with a TT drivetrain. It makes around 190kw on low boost and over 300kw on high boost.

It sucks but the track has neighbors that they need to accommodate. Tracks all over the US is closing down. I'd like to not lose the only track we've got here. lol. That Citi is no joke. Launches sooo hard.

I keep forgetting to say there's a place that rebuild shafts and cvs they did a vw crafter for us before because finflding cvs for those heavy as stuff is hard u have to order it then theres a waiting period they did it in 2 days and wasnt that much expensive

🤣 I'm so glad I jumped or he might have taken that run as well. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, he was probably feeling out the launch delay on the DSG. He technically needs to jump to launch with a manual car.

This event is actually not for race cars. It's for street cars. We can't run a competition use tyres, have a roll cage, etc.
